    My favorite pizzas come from little mom and pop shops. You can't get big brand pizza that even come close to a hand crafted masterpiece from a local pizzeria.

    I agree with the other comments that smaller chains have better pizza. All those big pizza chains have went downhill over the years. My first job was at a pizza place so I know that if you put too much sauce or cheese on a pizza before cooking the dough will not cook right and it will be doughy and soggy.

    The biggest issue is that they were all only pepperoni. Don't get me wrong, I like a good pepperoni pizza, but there are so many others to try: Meat lovers, supreme/combo (meat and veggies), Hawaiian (ham and pineapple), and so on. Most of these looked like they cooled down as well. Nothing beats a nice, hot pizza. Not burn your mouth hot, but still gooey. Plus, extra toppings such as parm cheese, pepper flakes, tabasco sauce, garlic powder, etc. simply enhances a pizza even more. And let's talk about crusts: thick crust, thin crust, pan pizza, cheese crust, hand-tossed style . . . I really do love pizza! 🥰

    • @Doggiemix1
      @Doggiemix1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think maybe they started with pepperoni pizzas for this taste test because they needed a basic flavor first. Then, later they can try all the different toppings etc.

    • @MGmirkin
      @MGmirkin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yeah, I think they were actually trying to rate the difference between the BRANDS and how well they make the SAME pizza.
      Next they should pick a good pizza brand and try a bunch of different TYPES of pizza from that same brand... Like pepperoni, Hawaiian, 3-/5-meat, veggie, ultimate, Taco Pizza, pepperoni/sausage/mushroom/olive, etc. See which specific type of pizza (combination of ingredients) is best... Just liked they tried different pies, they could try different pizza pies. ;)
      They could also try like crazy bread, stuffed crazy bread, cheesy bread, garlic breadsticks, etc. See which side dish bread t hey like best...

    You are both a joy to watch - when it comes to pizza, it is very much an individual choice - - - plus location in the U.S is a definite factor. Here in central New Jersey we are blessed with individual "pizzerias" that are privately (usually family) owned. There are still the pizza "chains" that you were trying however, the "pizzerias" are in a class by itself with a potentially really diverse menu. You can have a try between NYC vs Chicago pizza however, to me Central and North Jersey are in a class by itself! - but that's just me! Enjoy your journey of taste testing and experiencing new things in the U.S.
    Praying for peace in the world and that Cuba rises to the new heights and opportunities her people deserve.

    My Mom told me a story that when she was a kid back in the 1950s her Aunt came to America from Poland. One of the first things the family did when she got here was ordered pizza. Everyone grabbed a slice and started eating. She looked around at everyone eating their pizza and stretching the hot mozzarella and said in Polish "Co to jest? Struna?" (Which means "What is this? String?) She had never seen pizza before and didn't understand that it was cheese. 70 years later this story still lives on. Sometimes these small moments are truly magical. Cherish them.

      For local non-chain pizza, they would need recommendations first.

  • @ralphrepo
    @ralphrepo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    One of the things that I've discovered about American pizza, even the ones that come from well known pizzerias, is that once it gets home and had cooled a bit, there's a little 'something' that seems lacking. But, I've found that by putting it into a toaster oven for a few minutes, not only is the pizza reheated, but the bread on the bottom becomes crispier and the ingredients on top of the slice becomes 'snappier' with better texture. This is especially evident with leftover pizza that's been in the refrigerator. I find that the pizza is even better than having it fresh from the oven.

    Hola, i just discovered your channel this weekend when i was searching for videos about Cuba.I was trying to show my girlfriend that the Cuban people cannot just go to a store or restaurant,those are for the tourists. I love seeing Yoel's reaction to new things in America, is there anything he doesn't like about being here? Or food he doesn't like? i love your channel and please keep it going,also I think it would be awesome for Yoel to tell some stories about daily life in Cuba. My step mother is Cuban and i thought it was very cool to learn about life in Cuba ,maybe other people would enjoy learning too. Oh yeah i live in South Florida near Miami and was curious, what does Yoel think about American/Cuban food? thanks and please keep the videos coming!

Oh and chicken wings need to be on the list too please!!!! But Pizza Hut has to be deep dish for me... 💖

    Technically, if the ingredients don't start frozen can it really be called "fast food"? I currently work for dominos and NONE of their ingredients are frozen, and they hand stretch their own dough. Yes, it's fresh made and their ovens are fast, so it is fast service, but it's not frozen or greasy "fast food".

    Two places you need to visit are The Wiener's Circle in Chicago and the original Primanti Brothers in Pittsburgh's Strip District.
    The Wiener's Citcle will insult you with vulgarity you wouldn't hear from a platoon of US Marines, but it's all in fun, and the do it only at night.
    The Primanti Brothers "sammitch" is piled high with fries and Cole slaw on the "sammitch". The original Primanti Brothers ("Purmannys") was open24 hours so truckers making produce deliveries could eat at anytime, as thee was a big Pennsylvania Railroad produce terminal nearby.
    Both are worth the trip.

    Pizza is something my partner and l occasionally enjoy. We tend to gravitate toward pizza without meat or dairy cheese however if you like those toppings that's about personal choice.
    In the US there are far fewer restrictions than Europe and other parts of the world about what additives or preservative are in the food there.
    If l went to the US, 'THAT' is something l definitely would have concerns about.
    Enjoyed you guys enjoying something else.

    If you like Crispi pizza like Mari, I suggest having a skillet with a lid… heat the pan with the lid on it over high heat for a couple of minutes… put pizza to reheat or crisp up into the pan and reduce the heat to low or medium low… on my stove it usually takes 5-9 minutes in this small oven you have created.
    Check the bottom for the doneness you want… oh, and a little dark is usually ok and you don’t even taste it as burnt… just crispi… I like mine a dark brown to black in places. Times and your preferences vary.
    This gives the crust a nice crisp, and the toppings are hot and gooey.
    Toaster ovens and Air Fryers also work OK… think little ovens.
    No mater, the pizza, and consider add on toppings parmagian cheese, banana pepper rings, pepper flakes, buffalo sauce (Franks is great), dip pizza in ranch dressing or marinara, etc.

    The trick to hungry howies is getting it with the flavored crust. Butter cheese is my favorite. You also want to get the 3 cheese version instead of the regular. The result is amazing. If you want to take things up and extra notch you should melt some butter and drizzle it across the pizza. They have a garlic butter you can get which is great for both dipping and just putting on the pizza. The result is absolutely amazing. A good side item is the 3 cheese howie bread which is the cocaine of appetizers. It can become very addictive once you have gotten a fresh one.

    Homemade pizza with homemade dough is the best, give it a try! It’s actually not all that hard to do: put 1 packet of yeast and a pinch of brown sugar into 2 cups warm (about 90 to 100 degrees F) water and let it sit a few minutes. While the yeast is waking up, mix six cups of flour with a pinch of salt in a big bowl. Make a little crater in the middle of the flour and add the water-yeast mixture. Work the flour into the water until you form a ball of dough (if you have a stand mixer with a dough hook, use it - it makes this a lot easier). Turn it out onto a well-floured surface and knead for a few minutes. Then, coat the inside of a large bowl with olive oil, place your dough in the bowl and roll it around to coat it with the oil. Cover the bowl with some plastic wrap and then a dish towel and let it rise for a couple of hours at room temperature; it should double (or more) in size. Turn the dough out and separate it into three equally sized pieces and roll each into a nice, round ball. Each ball will make one large pizza. You can freeze unused portions for later use.
    To make the pizza: Preheat your oven to 500 Degrees F (I like to cook pizza at a high temperature). Grease a pizza pan or a large baking sheet with Crisco or similar shortening. Stretch out the dough on a well floured surface and then place it into the pan (this takes a little practice). Add your sauce first, coat the pizza evenly with as much sauce as you like. Then, add oregano, garlic powder, and basil. If you are making plain cheese pizza with the traditional shredded mozzarella, drizzle a little olive oil over the pizza. It you are using fresh mozzarella and/or pepperoni, skip the oil as each of these has enough fat of its own. Next, put a generous layer of grated Parmesan on top. Finally, add your mozzarella and top with whatever meat and/or vegetables you like. Place the pizza on the bottom rack of your oven if you prefer a crispy pizza. It will take about 15 to 18 minutes to cook, but start to check on it after 10 to 12 minutes to ensure you don’t burn it on the bottom (use a spatula to peek at the bottom to see if you get the right color). If the top cooks too quickly before the bottom is crispy, place a piece of foil on the rack above your pizza to make a little heat shield to prevent the cheese from cooking too fast. When it’s done, slide it onto a cutting board, wait a minute or to for it to cool just a little, and cut it into slices. Enjoy!

    My favorite pizza as of late is PaPa Murphey's Chicken Bacon Artichoke Delite. We just call it "grown up" pizza. Creamy garlic sauce with chicken, crumbled bacon, artichoke hearts, spinach, parmesan cheese and herbs. It's take and bake so it is hot from your oven.
