    I put this fork on a 29er hardtail ebike that is used mostly off road in the central PA mountains. With 700 miles on it I am very happy. It has great adjustably and has no problem with the extra weight. As for the trails to be found here they are just animal trails thru the woods but it does good there too.

      Hello. I ve just bought one and I have not installed it yet. But the rebound key on the bottom does not clicking (no noticable sound). I thing from the full slow to full fast is about 4.5 turns. Maybe every half turn is a click? How yours work? From full slow to full fast? Is mine broken???? Thanks in advance.

    I have this fork, came on my Trance Advanced 2. I would recommend anyone how has one or is going to get one to use SKF 50hr service on it as soon as you can. It had a lot of stiction when I got it so I did the service and it made a massive difference.

I'm thinking about the roscoe 8 mainly for beeing able to ride asap (400 for two month riding with better komponents). Just yesterday I found out about the grand canyon AL sl 8.0. It's spect with a fox float 34 rhythm but no dropper and slimmer 29 tires whilst beeing a bit cheaper (about 100 € but then again no dropper) Mainly I want to know your opinion on the two froks. • @Jamesthebikeguy

      It's neither the same damper nor the same stanchions. The revelation and the 35 are totally different chassis. The revelation shares a chassis with the pike, and the rock shox 35 is its own chassis. With that said if you can get the the Revelation that is the fork to buy.

    Please, don't go by the stickers saying "debonair" and making people think they get physically the air spring of higher end models. It is not running the internals of Pike, nor Reveletation (35mm), nor Yari, nor Lyrik. In fact it even uses the tokens used in 32mm forks. A great thing about this air spring is that - like the Judy Gold - can be travelled by what RS calls All Travel Spacers. From the manual it seems the more travel the fork has out of the factory, the less spacers are inside the fork. That being said, when reducing travel you might still need to purchase such spacers but hopefully the pricetag of those is considerably less than what you have to spent on an complete air spring assembly for the higher end forks.

    • @ridefrifjell545
      @ridefrifjell545 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Another thing I noticed is that you compared the weight of the 35 to a Judy Silver with black steel (!) stanchions. This is much more heavy than the gold version that uses alloy upper tubes.

    • @Jamesthebikeguy
      @Jamesthebikeguy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure who/what you are going after here, but the RS 35 does have a Debonair Air spring assembly. I re-watched my video and I never say it has the same internals as a Pike. The fork on it's own runs a Motion Control damper not a Charger Damper. Sure the tokens are shared with others (Solo Air / DebonAir, SID, Reba, Revelation, RS-1, Bluto, Argyle RCT Solo Air, 35 Gold, Part#11.4018.032.003).
      As far as the video comparing weights, I compared it to 3 different forks none of which was I saying the forks were exact matches. In fact the pike I weighted was a 27.5" as noted in the video. No "gotcha" here.

    • @ridefrifjell545
      @ridefrifjell545 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, no offense. I enjoy all of your videos and you typically mention a ton of details in a very professional way. But with this one I felt if I were not so deep into technical details I might go away here with some information being misleading. In 01:48 you say you get the debon air spring that one might get in higher end forks. I feel like RS is putting a debon air badge on allmost any new fork making it kind of pointless to take it as an advantage. However the assemblies are not identical and hence people can easily think forks at different price points are equally performing while they do not. It is certainly clever marketing afterall. Second, when you compared weights you just said the Judy which again, a beginner, might just say hey the judy is so heavy with its small stanchions. In fact the silver version you put on the scale even has got black coating on it making it look almost identical to the gold version. In my eyes this comparison is not sound. But hey, keep up the good work and your recent plan on getting fitter!

    • @adrianszabelski8105
      @adrianszabelski8105 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes by changing out the airshaft

    • @jancincar6747
      @jancincar6747 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      According to manual, yes.
      But not by changing the whole air shaft, just by remove/add travel spacers. Im going to increase travel from 150 to 160, just by removing one 10mm travel spacer.
      I hope it's that easy as manual says:
      "To increase or decrease the travel in your RockShox 35 Gold, All-Travel spacers can be installed or removed. For example, to increase travel from a
      maximum of 130 mm of travel to a maximum of 150 mm of travel, the 30 mm All-Travel spacer must be removed, and a 10 mm All-Travel spacer must
      be installed onto the air spring assembly"

    My Trek Roscoe 8 came with this fork, but after only 6 rides, the wiper seal blew out. Turns out that the internal seal is leaking air into the negative chamber. If you notice that your fork pressure has dropped considerably, stop riding immediately and notify your local bike shop. Sram is sending me a new lower bulkhead seal and internals for the air chamber.

    I have this fork on my bike and I absolutely hate it, small bump compliance is none existent, the debonair spring is straight crap on this fork. Not compatible with any internal upgrades and weighs quite a bit. If it comes on a bike ok for the mean time but if you are buying to upgrade better off buying a pike select. It does take drops pretty good but that’s about the only good thing. Also loud on the trail makes a squish noise when you hit roots.

    • @Jamesthebikeguy

    This fork is budget crap, low speed doesn't exist, sticky as glue, not stiff as it should be 35 mm stanchions, it's not worth as upgrade for 400 dollars rather spent that on chics. Everyone who says it's good didn't drive good fork for a single minute in his life.
