I lived in Shanghai for 2 years working as an English teacher. Shanghai is one of the best cities in the world! The Shanghai metro is without a doubt, the best system in the world and The Bund at night is one of the most amazing things you will ever see. Great vlog, guys!
They are the best travel vloggers! Josh's narration is top notch. Lisa supervises it all and ensures Josh stays on point and says the right things 😀. For example, Josh correctly pronounces Shanghai, unlike most Americans who say Sheng-hai.
Between the content, Josh's narrating, Lisa's explanations and the music, you two have become two of my top travel vloggers. I cannot wait to explore Shanghai some day.
I love the way I learn how to pronounce things correctly in your videos. Even if it's not 100% accurate, it's never for a lack of effort. The striving for cultural accuracy, appreciation and respectfulness always keeps me coming back for more. I love the frenetic pace of the intro only to be met with this calm and unbothered city. You guys are my favorites. I tell everyone I know about this channel.
Arrived in Shanghai in 2009, Culture Shock - lived in the French Concession in a tiny wooden house. I wanted old China but they've pulled it all down. Very different after Covid, apparently. Never really felt at home until I moved to Chengdu, Sichuan (where the Pandas come from). Lived there for 5.5 years. China is amazing, the people, the food, the culture - even if you don't speak the lingo. Now living in Thailand. Thanks for this video guys, I could taste those dishes!
This is the quality of the new season? This is out of this world! I wish I could like this video more than once! Looking forward to seeing future videos from you two 🎉
Yay you guys are back! My partner and I just got married and we’re watching your videos religiously to find honeymoon inspirations. Thank you for being the best, most relatable and down to earth travel vloggers out there :)
Intro narration is INSANE, guys!! Literally so captivating. Hats off to both of you. Your travel vids are probably the closest to Anthony Bourdain’s on TH-cam right now. Amazing work. You’ve outdone yourselves! 🎉
Glad to see you had fun in Shanghai and Hangzhou!!! 💗 Two things: 1) I think the trick of eating xiao-long-bao is to put it in a spoon --> make a small opening on the wrap --> let the soup out in a spoon --> first have the soup --> then eat the xiao-long-bao 😀this way you can avoid being burned 😂 2) I visited Hangzhou last year, and instead of touring around west lake, my friend and I went hiked to one of hills/mountains on the horizon, having the best view on the lake + city center. 九溪十八涧 is what it's called, with beautiful tea fields, fresh greeks, old and huge trees. The entrance was 30-40min by bus from west lake. can only recommend for your next trip to Hangzhou!! 💗
Thank you, thank you…. ❤I asked you a few months ago to go to Shanghai and do a video.. You did it, I’m sure it was just for me! so very happy that you did, I leave ina few weeks! Great timing. Thanks guys.
Guys, slow travel is the way to go, enjoy your journey, don't rush it! When I worked on cruise ships I had to try McDonalds in every country I visited. I found the yummiest cheeseburger in Türkiye and the most expensive cheeseburger in Denmark. PS. you should have a disclaimer telling people not to watch if they are hungry, I was literally salivating every time you guys ordered food 😋
Big time Pudong hater here but this video may have convinced me to give it another try. Which I recognize would always be a good idea since that city seemingly goes through a transformation approximately every 3.7 seconds. Was fun to see y'all exploring our old stomping grounds (our first shared apartment was about a mile west of Panda Bar.) So hungry right now.
if you're looking for nostalgia, we've got that in spades :) thank you so much for watching - and yes, it did feel like the entire city changed from when we flew in to when we left. it's incredible.
Hey Lisa and Josh, this was one of our favourite episodes ever!! We love Shanghai and travelling along with you guys brought it all back to us in a way that travelling with good friends does- making it extra special! Man it would be cool to bump into you guys in a place like this and buy you a beer and say thankyou for all the fantastic entertainment you have given us and all the travel experiences you have allowed us to share with you! You guys are definitely some of our all time favourite TH-camrs. Keep living your best life and stay safe and enjoy your travels. Best wishes from the Ryan family ❤in Yallingup, Weatern Australia.
the best original video of shanghai I've seen so far.. no clichés overshot.. really enjoy the whole thing.. and like you said.. its just so normal.. there was no hints of gaslighting the Chinese eat babies narrative.. thanks for the experience..
Hi, great video! I rode a bike on that section of bike path in Pudong last summer when visiting my gf, and it's definitely great views. Little suggestion: properly mic yourselves up better for better audio quality and more consistent volume! edit: China Rail has this weird pricing terminology in high-speed rail where "business class" is actually a tier higher than first class. The "first class" is just a glorified second class with more horizontal space and more legroom. On such short trips I will more likely go for business class but with a budget that's understandable
The correct way to eat Xiao Long Bao is to put it on a spoon, poke a hole in the dough first, slowly absorb the soup, and then eat the whole thing. This way you can enjoy the delicious taste without burning and hurting the mouth
So different to when I visited 13 year ago. Makes me want to visit again! I'm totally a traveler that tries to do as much as possible in a trip, because there is so much of the world to see and no guarantees that you can come back.
Love watching your videos! The way you capture all of the small details that a lot of other vloggers would skim over makes the experience feel more full and immersive. Keep up the amazing content and stay safe!! ❤
Another amazing travel video . I just love your vlogs . I wait for them just like i wait for epic new episode of a loved show. the narrations is on spot and funny . keep them coming. you inspire us on so many levels . cant wait to see where you go next.
Loved this video especially since I dream of visiting Shanghai. All the tips you share about Alipay, eSim, etc -- all very helpful. Thank you for the great content!!!
I absolutely love all your videos and this one was one of my favourites yet! Shanghai is top on my list of places to visit. Keep doing what you're doing ❤
Another awesome video! My wife and I love your videos! Shanghai looks beautiful, but a bit difficult to navigate. The food looks amazing too! Definitely on our bucket list! Josh, you’re a lucky man! Lisa is smart and beautiful!
Thank you for a wonderful video, I spent 2 months in the past summer traveling in China. I stayed in Shanghai for 9 days and 4 days in Hangzhou which was not enough either. The video reminds me of those places that I been to. I am planning my 2nd episode of China trip in Feburary 2025. Looking forward to more videos from you guys. 🤩💯👍🙏 加油!I couldn't tell you if KFC in China is better because I was only focusing on dumplings, wonton, beef noodles and other good food.
Great video as always guys, but I am glad to say this is the first time in a while your video has made me happy to not add somewhere to my trip next year - not any fault of your own but it just takes me back to your Dubai video, the place just seems a bit soulless from what I can see. Still a fantastic video, but I'm glad to not have to add another place onto my trip haha!
Lisa and Josh: Did you transit to another city to avoid needing a visa? Is that why you were only there for a few days to meet the 144-hour rule for the TWOV?
Did you enter the Yu Garden? Those shops are outside of the entrance and you need to walk through to find the entrance. Yu Garden is a very nice Chinese garden.
Thank you Patrick Wilson for another 3 days adventure! Poke and drain your soup dumplings in the spoon to taste for heat and slurp without burns, noobs
Looked like a rough first day figuring everything out, thanks for sharing those struggles. It's not always easy! Did you both need a visa to visit? Another banger, good job guys 👍
Absolutely loved your Shanghai video. So interesting. Is cash ever used? Or is it all digital via phone? So beautiful to see all the sights you visited. Such an amazing place. I do love your videos. Always so much fun. Best wishes.
This was so good! Thank you so much for all the time you put into making those videos. I was always intrigued by China and now it’s at the top of my bucket list 😄thank you again for being so cool 😎
Maglev doesn't take u all the way into the heart of Shanghai. You still need to take the subway after that. Probably take the same time if you take the subway all the way from airport to city center
Love your videos but as an avid soup dumpling consumer.... Watching y'all eat them was painful. 1. Put soup dumpling in spoon 2. Tear a little hole and slurp the soup, season to taste with vinegar/chili oil 3. Enjoy without it going up your nose or burning your mouth! Still love the content!
yes, super helpful! we did learn after our umpteenth dumpling. Lisa said she found it was best to bite about 1/5th of the way into the dumpling, let the pressure and heat out and them continue on

We like you two. Enjoy your personalities.
Due to inflation we think you should increase your budget. Maybe $150 or $200.
we've been thinking this recently too - $100 a day is a very specific budget that many won't want to stick to when they travel. we're not sure yet :)
3:25 i really like the nature museum there! Went there with my mom once and with my boyfriend once again!🎉
Really cool film : ) Shared !
I like your "right way" to enjoy foreign destinations.
You can have a small bite and let the juice come out, and then eat the meat and dough and have the soup later
