- Just wanted to make a quick video showing how to get the 120hz enabled in cod cold war on xbox series x using a 4k/120hz or higher display running a 2.0 hdmi port. The monitor i am using is the Lg27GN950. This will also work on any other display that supports 4k/120hz with an hdmi 2.0 port. You will also get around 120fps on modern warfare with this method as well.
Hey guys just wanted to give an update as i read a article saying that COD COLD WAR does not support 120fps on XBOX SERIES S. Hopefully they come out with an update to fix this!
@@Jj_Yacs lol damn dude i can imagine but its powerful enough for sure! Its just the game, I’ve played other games in 120fps on series S. Idk why they didn’t release 120fps on Cold War, hopefully they release an update that enables it.
@@Jj_Yacs the devs were lazy they just didn't add it for the s it's probably because even on the Xbox series x call of duty cold war runs at 1080-1200p so on the s at 120 fps on cold war would be like 720p-900p it just would've looked very bad
@@LePochie is the game still not running 120hz? I have xbox series x and i played on both 60hz and 120hz and i dont see any difference tbh. I have samsung G5 and my video setting are 1440p and 120hz.

@@Jj_Yacs if u go to the display settings on the Xbox settings set the output to 1080p and 120hz go to video modes and disable 4K the game then automatically runs in 120fps hope that makes sense for u

Yooo! Thank you so much man! I was looking all over for this for Warzone! I found a reddit post that said unplugging and plugging the HDMI back in resolves it as Warzone boots up in 60, that worked for a couple of weeks and then stopped. Looks like I had enabled Allow 4K at some point! Turned that off and loaded into 120 no problem!

Tip: If your tv/ monitor does support 4k and 120 at the same time like I do you have to quit out the app, and quit any other quick resume games in the background

Go to video fidelity and overscan - overrides and select hdmi.. then go and change your hearts and resolution.

Does anyone know why? Months ago this solution allowed me to get 1440p at 120hz, but this isn't the case anymore, I haven't played cold war in a while, but this exact same method doesn't work for me anymore, and I dont know why.

For COD WARZONE, there is no 120hz option to enable in the game. It automatically switches to 120fps once you enable the options in the video settings (on the xbox) and load up the game. If you have a fps counter on your monitor you can see it that way if you like as well.

LG 27GN950-B doesn’t have HDMI 2.1 ports, which is what you need for 120hz on PS5/XBOX SERIES X. That monitor is best for PC gaming otherwise capped at 60hz. (LG 27GP950-B has 2 HDMI 2.1 ports!) I recommend this Gaming Monitor which is the updated version of LG 27GN950-B for 4K 120HZ gaming on Next Gen Consoles

So I have the ASUS VG27AQ 27" 16:9 WQHD IPS Gaming Monitor and I have 120hz with 1440p selected if I have 4K checked will modern warfare run at 120hz or will it run at 60hz since I have it checked ? Should I uncheck it for modern warfare ??
uncheck it. Because if its checked, the games automatically upscales it to 4k

Go to tv & display options in settings then video fidelity & overscan then where it says overrides choose hdmi in the drop down menu the screen will go blurry and go to 640 x 640 change it to 1080p then underneath it should have a new drop down appear with 60hz change it to 120hz... 💁🏽♂️Done... make sure you exit the game and reload it if the game was running when u make the changes!

Hey I’m on xbox series x. My monitor is a asus 23.8 120hz and i run 120hz enabled on cold war. Does it automatically transfer to vanguard? Vanguard isn’t giving me the option or atleast see i’m running 120fps?

This didn’t help with me. I have a x90j and set it up for 120hz at 4K. I was able to change the refresh rate on Vanguard to 120 but when I go to Cold War, the options are grayed out. Disabling Allow 4K only forces the series x to go into 1080p @60. Anyone else have any idea why that is?

I have 1080p at 120 hz but when I load into Cold War and go I to graphics there is literally no option at all where it says 120 hz it just goes to field of view and stuff I have an Xbox series x
Make sure you have the ray tracing data pack installed and then restart your game. The option should be there after that! Hoped this helped!

@@nicholasbradley5150 Turn off freesync on your monitor. If that doesn’t work go to Xbox Settings > TV & Display > Video Fidelity & Overscan, and make sure the Overdrive setting is not on auto-detect and put it on HDMI. Screen is going to look shitty at first but just click yes and go back and now you should be able to choose 1440p 120hz

Why dont I see this 120hz option in game. Using my one x I have it set to 1440 120hz allow 4k off. Checking video output on my tv, it says 1440 120hz but I don't see this option in game to enable 120hz

Check to see if you have all the data packs installed on the game, especially the ray tracing data pack.
If that didn’t work make sure you installed the X/S version

I’m having a problem with getting 120 FPS for warzone and Cold War. I enabled 120 hz in the console settings but when I am in either game the frame counter just stays at 120, which I can assume I am not getting 120 in game and doesn’t feel like it either. Hey man sorry to tell you, but the series s doesn’t support 120fps on cold war but warzone should be running somewhere near 120fps. But the frame counter on your monitor, does it say 120hz or does it say 120fps cause it could be a hz counter instead of a fps counter. Hoped this helped man!
On the frame counter it doesn’t say but when I check the monitor it says it should be running at 120hz
Figured out the problem. In the console settings I switched the display override to hdmi instead of just leaving it on auto detect. Now the frame counter fluctuates normally. Thanks for all your help.
