yes it was exo and bigbang fans and recently blackpink fans joined at making attempts to destroy bts' career. the rest of the kpop community, with the exception of a few, have been constantly discrediting bts and their achievements. for example when bts was first nominated for top social artist for billboard, the kpop community made threads on twitter about how they dont need western validation, called armys beggars for wanting bts to be successful in the west. and now that 2 other groups got nominated for the same exact award they were mocking 2 years ago, theyre celebrating and screaming asian representation when asian representation didnt mean anything to them 2 years ago. they always try to push the "armys are toxic" agenda when most of the time its armys defending bts and them trying to victimize themselves. thank u for reacting to this video.

A lot of truth here. An American producer I know worked with an SM artist on a tribute program... he said the artist was a great guy but SM made the production such a hell for everyone with all the changes and micromanaging they did that he swore he’d never work with them again.

Sorry to hear you suffered backlash and felt attacked. There are a few extremist who lash out and are disrespectful. I feel like most of these fans are very young and impulsive and new to the fandom but I could be wrong. This is very disheartening as BTS are all about spreading positivity and love. Their love yourself campaign is all about acceptance of yourself and others around you. I believe that learning to love and accept yourself...your true self with all your faults and things you are even ashamed of...is the key to ceasing hatred and violence towards others. I hope things improve and this can become a safe space for people to respectfully share opinions in healthy debate, free of toxic negativity and hate. Just a suggestion but maybe you can do a Q&A video or just an introduction video about yourself in the future for followers to get to know you better and understand where you are coming from. Side note: some fan made videos are done to introduce usually new to kpop fans that don't know much about the industry and sometimes it paints things in a certain way. They are trying to explain sometimes complicated things or ideas in a simplified way to those who know very little about the industry or culture. I really like xceleste videos though, I think she does a really great job.

As someone who has been an ARMY for a long time, I speculated the involvement of the companies since the fans itself cannot do attacks on such a massive scale. And it's also funny how when BTS won their first bbma it did not make it on Naver main page, nor when they sold out citifield. Their news hardly used to make on Naver entertainment main page until very recently despite their achievements, but an article about another idol wearing designer shoes would trend for a freaking whole day. iam not even Korean and I have a Naver account and I constantly go and upvote and engage with their articles in hopes of getting them on main page, been doing it since a long time. They never got the deserved coverage in Korea I still believe they don't get the deserved coverage for the scale of their achievements. There is no way companies are not involved. Bighit literally had to go to court to clear the sajaegi accusations.

Not to mention the kind of questions they get asked by reporters in their press conferences in korea, they legit asked them about the death threats they received instead of asking about their music. They ask them about the plagiarism accusations in as recent as persona press conference. The reporting is clearly biased. It has to be controlled to some extent, considering Ent.companies have shares in naver and other media.

Westerners value individuality the most, which is one of the reasons why I think bts was able to break into the American market so easily. From the start, each member was able to voice their thoughts and feelings thru their old video logs, each of them was able to showcase their genuine personalities, and they’re super involved in their music. Additionally, they were always vocal about their struggles, society, and willing to let people see the vulnerable side of them. Their genuineness and authenticity is what really made them skyrocket to where they are. Alongside a company that supported them and allowed them the creative freedom to just be. There’s no formula to their success. They’ve been through so much, done so much, grew so much. No one else will ever top them in the industry, at least from now.

You're right ... all that sh*t they went through did make them closer and really, I think, helped drive their lyrics.
I'm grateful to xceleste for making this video because it can help people understand why some ARMY are so overprotective. The hard-liners have been with them from the beginning and, although the video doesn't go into it, fought twitter battles-- flagging tweets, taking down content anywhere they could. It's amazing. I really had no idea about all this when I first became a fan, then I witnessed a twitter war myself when antis started tweeting/voting for Justin Bieber at the BBMAs with the hashtag #beatbts. Unbelievable. (Actually and Ironically, Obama and Oprah both saw what was going on and publicly voted for BTS for Top Social Artist.). But some ARMYs are still over-the-top, which is why reactors are careful not to mention EXO-Ls and ARMYs in the same show. Hope you don't get any flak.
If you want a little window on how BTS was treated by some Korean networks, just search up Jungkook and the hamburger incident.
Because BTS had trouble getting exposure on regular TV shows, Bang PD started BangtanTV where they uploaded behind-the-scenes clips of the boys goofing around (BTS Bombs) and BTS also had their own reality shows. The early ones are a hoot. (Rookie King-- memorable for the amount of spanking that went on and the ep where Jimin had to break chopsticks with his butt.) There was also BTS gayo, which was all about kpop. American Hustle Life, a bit cringey and painful to watch, at times.
I also recommend BTS Run on vlive. Then, there's Bon Voyage, Summer package... too many to mention. But this is how fans learned who the members were as people. Although much of it is scripted, they often go off-script and just forget they're on camera.
Also, TH-cam Red has an 8 episode special called Burn the Stage that was filmed during their wings tour, where you see them resolve conflicts, confront health issues, work out staging problems, etc.

I just found your channel now and so far I'm liking what I'm seeing and stuffs I'm hearing from your reactions. I like how chill and just straight forward you are with your reactions and opinions without being biased. and tbh I was like "Oh my God, this man. Finally! Someone who gets it and knows most of the stuffs I know and understand about Kpop, K-industries and stuffs.... " I'm not saying I'm a super expert or what not But I grew up listening to different types of music, genre, different languages etc. and along that I grew understanding some important stuffs that goes along with music industries and all that stuffs. and I happy to see someone who actually gets it too. I don't often see people who actually knows these stuffs (Or would accept this facts in K-industry as I see a lot who are indenial about the toxic side of it just coz their favorite group/artist are working under this or that company) let alone, Not many TH-camrs does. and It's good to see someone who does and is open about it. BTS is like a rare Species in the S.korea music industry right now. which is why they still get disrespected and played on by the media(payed medias to be exact) just to stain their scandal-free Good image to the public. A lot of fandoms and Agencies tried and are still trying to discredit and belittle BTS and Bighit. and you're right about Exo's fans and the stuffs they've done as well as what SM had to do with it. in which other fans of EXo tends to be indenial about it. and tbh, they've done waaay waaay more nasty stuffs just to drag BTS and ARMYS down. They even had other fandoms help by pretending to be ARMYS just to cause arguments so they can join force with other fandoms to gang up against ARMYS and BTS.. (And it's still happening up until now. it's getting pettier and more toxic each day since BTS keeps on getting huge and better) I'm not saying BTS's ARMYS are perfect. (Hell no) No fandoms are ever perfect. BUT the amount of attacks and hate BTS and ARMYS getting since day 1 up until now is just ridiculous. and tbh it's gotten to the point that it's also that level of hateful deeds people do on a daily that is clearly unhealthy. Even YG is going after Bighit and BTS. but I won't spill too much here. BTS is THAT group who is both loved and hated the most. LOVED by Locals and co-artists a lot and been looked up to (Both Hoobaes and Sunbae's. there's a video showing each people who does . even the wife of S.Korea's president is a fan of BTS) buts sadly these Artists who likes and respects BTS a lot and or even friends with them in real life, their fans Hated BTS and the ARMYS so much, they'd go at any measure just to drag about anything and stain BTS's good image. It's sad and annoying. such an irony. since most of these hateful fandoms too are now copying the ARMYS ways on how they support BTS . and are now going after the same achievements and platforms that BTS managed to get into, when they are also the same people who belittled and called all this achievements of BTS outside Korea a flop, Irrelevant and not needed by them. And when other Armys caught on these people and call them out on their BS, all of a sudden they'd play "the victim" card and call ARMYS the toxic ones. It's really insane. thus, the fanwars gets worsen. anyway, thank you for this amazing reaction. Keep up the good work and sorry if this became so long. (LOL)

I actually agree with u with the sm music style...i was a dbsk fan before they disband, I gravitate more on their Japanese song rather than Korean song. After dbsk , the music of the artist after them from that company seem like copy cat...and they got lazy in producing good music. They focus their artist more on variety shows , drama etc..but their music stop growing ...so I stop listening.
I disagree with you regarding yg, I think their music more westernize in the sound but with add on recognizable Korean addictive hook like the bang bang bang from big bang or dru du du (I cant remember the exact tittle spelling )from black pink, so it is more recognizable to the ear of people who consume western music and maybe more easily acceptable....and that is nothing wrong with that, I have a few of their song in my playlist.
But for people like me who has been listening to the western music since childhood..I dont feel the need to explore the music that is similar to what I hear in radio station everyday eg MIX FM or HITs FM.And the lyrics is also have no special meaning except for maybe 2-3 song. The same way that I listen to rhianna, Adele or maroon 5 , bsb ..I am not that interested in knowing what they taught process or what lead them to write the song,..I just listen because it is in my recommendation or it is in the radio.I didn't feel like buying the album..I might stream in the spotify for the song that I like...that the basic extend of it.
You have to remember this people sing in Korean language. If they want to break the US market and compete , it is either they play in the same field like Jay park and CL or they have to be really something special that western artist cant offer like what BTS have. This market and the European market is not very kind to non western artist (lets be honest here)
The performance , dancing , talent and publicity etc can get you invited to talk show and festival but you need something more to fill up stadium and concert venue..I think if YG didnt push blackpink this early to break US, let them grow musically first maybe they have a better chance then what they do now....they will become another psy( u know what I mean)

BTS never intended to expand to US market, the international Army fanbase gradually grew in size til the western media cannot ignore them. Army kinda brought BTS from korea to US. Also, I think the storyline about the boy's growing pain that runs through most BTS music videos attracts a lot of western fans who like developing theories and finding hidden meanings. In this sense, I recommend first reacting to the HYYH series: I Need U(original ver.), prologue etc.

However, I saw some comments n YT reactors who are not familiar with BTS and the Kpop culture criticized them looking like girls with make-up, gays, clowns, trash, Korean Teletubbies, etc. That's quite mean n prejudiced so Army have the right to defense them. Even to this day during their recent Global Press Conference, a reporter questioned BTS about plagiarism on their 3 years' old MV "Blood, Sweat & Tears". Thankyou for your honesty and im sorry about what some armys were doing. Because of those hardships i think thats why we are so protective but i think its starting to get better as bts grows were learning to focus on bts and not on those who speak negatively especially other fandoms. There is still some that do whatever they want and just attack others even for no reason i dont consider those armys just casual bts listeners. Another thing while yg isnt as bad as sm was i feel like theyre trying to do similar things to tear down bts specifically one group and some people from yg. But we wont get into that. As you said for line distribution i think bighit is doing better with that lately there were a few members that wouldnt get many lines but now are getting more especially this last album. I think it helps that the boys have a hand in the writing and producing so they can help with the line distribution or so i assume since i dont really know. See many things are confusing to international fans that arent korean. for me personally when i tried to get into other groups from other companies the energy was just off you can feel the genuineness with bts but other groups it was weird i never connected to much western music but the other kpop groups was even worse with that. People need to connect to the music otherwise its just casual listening and not as much a impact in my opinion. Many army is the same as me once we found bts we really tried to get into other groups but with the fandoms and music in general it seemed impossible. Bts is very different its not just good looking or talent that got us to be army but their creativity and positive messages and just them being unapologetically them. Of course we dont see everything but its very refreshing and relatable that is why i think they broke into the western markets. Everything has meaning behind it theres even a storyline that runs through many of their music videos ive never seen such a thing is western music maybe two videos connecting at most. Armys are of all ages and genders and races we all feel some form of connection to bts they have taught many things and even got armys to read and learn about things such as psychology, philosophy, loving yourself ,staying positive, helping others etc many army donate to charity because bts encourages it. Ive seen army continue their dreams because bts gave them the strength. It may seem silly but bts have saved many lives young and old. Sorry for such a long message but many dont see the deeper things behind bts success only the business aspects.

But I prefer unbiased information, and much of my connection right now is fan-based. So thank you!

I really enjoyed your reaction and commentary afterwards. I have to agree that BTS is on another level and they were from the start. I didn't really start paying attention to them until the Love Yourself era when my daughter introduce me to them. Their music feels.......real. I went down the rabbit hole and haven't come out. I ABSOLUTELY adore these boys. I'm 44, so I see them in a different light than most younger ARMYs (yes, I am an official ARMY). But I digress, they are true world artist that have claimed a spot in the history of music and no one can take that away from them. Proud is an understatement of their accomplishments.

I've actually heard it from my korean friend as well that the company has a FIRM grip of what's happening in the fandom. In SK that is.
International fans have to lean on K fans all of the time. Cause they MOSTLY dont know korean.
That's why when I think about the relationships I-fans and k-fans have (Armys excluded!!!) it always reminds me of how Exos Baekhyun made news with his fopaux about mental health and how an Army translated it into English. Int. eggs thought it was bashing and all the KArmys were hating on their "oppa" and how the whole thing was a mistranslation made by Army.
It was a terrible fanwar between international fans.
I remember trying to explain how it was the news about korean GP and it was not between fandoms. But kids won't listen so we gave up. Instead they bashed us and BTS. Their logic go figure.
It was even worse after BH apologized for his words. Again we were to blame....
    It was ridiculous!!
Just cause their international fans don't get any correct news from their korean counterparts the int fans run around rabid and blame Armys for everything that their stupid oppas do.
    Facepalm.

Well, I think you are right with fans having a difficult time connecting with members from bands with a bigger number of members. As for Bangtan, yeah, 7 members is already a lot but it probably was their smartest move to upload tons and tons of Bangtan bombs etc to grant exactly this - time for every member to get screentime and spotlight.
Just wanted to say, I love the immense amounts of industry insights you can give. For example, the telephone-like sound for RM's rap in Fake Love - that was awesome. That actually was new information for me. All those details on the mixing, on the sound landscape, those are things we as non-musicians don't really pick up on (in depth), so I am very grateful for your comments. Additionally, as an International Army, hearing more about the entertainment companies is super interesting. We all know the music business is a harsh place to be in but your insights make it easier to imagine what BTS and the other groups have to go through.
And finally, a request, if I may. Would you mind reacting to some Bangtan Bombs? (There is the normal playlist with all the Bangtan Bombs but there are also collections/ compilations that you could check out. Feel free to pick whatever seems interesting to you.) Thank you so much!

Wow, really insightful comments about the K-Pop industry. As an international western fan I never liked SM groups and the reason was exactly what you said. Now they are trying to push their newer group NCT, but it just doesn't work, they have that same SM sound that you said. They're really trying, but it just doesn't click for me.
Thank you for the reaction and I'm sorry if someone from our fandom was disrespectful or rude to you. 💜
