“This song is such a journey”, my exact thoughts. Someone else described it as they were playing the game Operation; I love that analogy. It’s SO different & has that late 80’s early 90’s r&b/hip hop vibe. Mad props to Jhope writing this & how funny it’s the song he accidentally spoiled a little bit in a live. The harmonies at the end remind me of 90’s En Vogue but w a bboy vibe. Great reaction Jino!

It sounds like a very Jhope track, cause the horns were also prominent on Ego. The chill, soulful, old-school hip hop vibe is also common on Jhope tracks. So dis-ease ends up sounding like something that could have been on his mixtape.

@@AngelaSealana if you check the translation hobi said he thought a lot abt the title in korean and how the english title could be a word play to use dis-ease, not being at ease. He just said joon explained abt the english title, he didn’t say joon did the title. It was his idea. He’s been explaining it to interviews, kindly check.

Suga’s rap in this song is definitely one of the highlights of the album.
The contrast between RM and Suga's rap was everything. Jhope was so awesome in this as well. All three sounded like the total seasoned rappers that they are. The vocalists were wow. The entire track is something new completely. I genuinely have never heard a song quite like this in my life and I've listened to so much music and so many different artists. BTS pushing boundaries as usual.

LOL people often assume that every high note is Jimin's (like when people mistook Jin's high notes in Crystal Snow and Come Back Home for Jimin's) when in fact, Jin specializes in belting high notes in BTS songs. He talks about it in their videos too. :) so I'm glad Jin got some recognition of his part.
This song really is a rollercoaster from start to finish. Very very funky.
Where did you get the idea for the theme of “Dis-ease”?
j-hope: First, I wanted to get into the mindset that this song is a sickness. When I make a song, I work on the chorus first, and then move onto the first verse. When I had only finished the chorus the song felt upbeat, but I thought the overall theme shouldn’t be too playful. That wouldn’t reflect how I felt. But while the theme of “Dis-ease” itself isn’t very light, when it fuses with the beat, it feels as if the song is trying to get over itself and stay positive. So I threw some scratching into the chorus and put in some “bbyap bbyap bbayp” and then started to think, “Aha! I’d better call this song ‘Dis-ease.’ ”
I didn’t expect you to write a song portraying your love-hate relationship with your work as a disease. A lot of people would expect you to have a positive, hopeful attitude, given your name.
j-hope: I was too busy to ever give much thought about the work itself. But, as you know, that suddenly changed, and there was a lot we could no longer do. When I was working, I’d say, “Ugh, I need a break,” but then we took time off and the words, “Ugh, I want to work,” jumped out of my mouth! That’s what made me think more closely: “Why is this bothering me? I have a chance to rest-just take it. Why do I feel like I need to work under these circumstances? Is this an occupational disease?” I felt like this was a part of me that I could express at this point in time.
To me this song is the most BTS out of the whole album. Signed, sealed, delivered

Dis-Ease is such a well produced track from the Raplines to the vocal lines but what stood out the most is the Raplines in this track...

some facts : the producer of dis ease said that the original beat was higher and pddog and ghsloop decided to lower the key. the bridge part according to the producer was made by pdog and ghstloop. a part of the bringe had no melody and lyrics so jimin wrote a part of the bridge together with pdogg

Haha Jino I felt that 4:00. (*see my comment on Fly To My Room). Again this song feels like that. This whole albumn is so special because if you ever get the chance to go back and watch lives that contain members mixes or first takes you can see that this albumn incorporates their studio mix styles so well. BE feels so personal because of this. It really has the feeling of each member making you a personal for your ears only mixtape and I think that is so genius because it shows a geniune feeling but also it's so marketable in a time like this when people have started to feel a disconnect from not seeing one another and being able to continue our normal relationships. I may be completely bias to Big Hit (I mean I seriously love PD Bang) but also this company makes all the right moves, intentionally or not.

Love this! After "Save Me", this must be my favorite! All if them are on point. The beat is a killer. This us really the song for Grammy. The beat, especially the drum and bass, might be inspired from a Seo Taiji song. Could this be BTS tribute to ST as he is BTS' idol? The beat really remind me of ST. J-hope's great vision for this song - Long verses for rapline to show their colour. J-hope strong but chill rythmic start while you are contemplating life to attract your attention, follow later as the song builds up RM coming in with a punch followed on by suga to bring you higher to the song.
Long chorus, with bridge and breaks with variation to allow each vocal member to show their vocal strength.
