As an Kuwaiti army it even harder
U have no idea how they think of us here..
Kuwait community is really hard ... “mocking, mistreating and talking low about us”
but this is how it is here ..
We r still supporting BTS no matter what happens
And yeah I’m a 27 years old army and I’m proud of it 🤟🏼
Thanks for understanding our relationship with BTS we really appreciate it 💜💜

I love seeing more Kuwait ARMYs around.
I agree with your comment as well, being a fan of BTS is difficult in a lot of places especially here. During burn the stage movie we got a lot of looks on us and even our families and friends are always kind of mocking us through "it's just a joke, they are just a band" but to us they are so much more. I often get told how can someone my age (30) like a boy band from Korea and I seriously dont understand what the big deal is.
Honestly hope things change and people become a bit more open minded and accepting of others.
Anyway on the note about BTS not being part of kpop a big YES. They have surpassed that industry so long ago. I'm not someone who even listens to kpop because quite honestly I tried so many times and it just doesnt click with me, a lot of songs have same feel to them, kind of recycled. Where BTS always explores new genres and have different stories and messages to tell and for that I appreciate all the work they put in for us as well for themselves. They will only grow even bigger, we are hardly at peak even now 😌

You find the ARMY fandom fascinating, and I find it fascinating that you have such a full understanding of ARMY dynamics with such limited exposure. It's so hard to find someone who can see what so many others miss when it comes to this sense of intimacy within the fandom. I think you have a keener perception than most, and it's one of many reasons why I keep coming back to your reactions when I normally don't bother. Keep up the great content! Just a small note i would like to add. I agree in what you said Armys are being misunderstood. We are by our peers, parents, co workers and media outlets. We are portrayed as teenage girls who just want to marry bts. As people who do not have the capacity to think critically and socially. As young people who do not see what is happening around us. On the contrary, army’s are from all ages, of all backgrounds and we are intelligent, eager to learn and motivate to make changes
Media also see this relationship as a fling. They believe the next boygroup is going to come around, and army’s are just going to leave bts for it. What they don’t realize it is a deep special connection, i feel it is like the way you described, between bts and armys and one that honestly most of us don’t understand either!
I have never been a fan of boygroups in this way. I never understood the hype around Backstreet boys, nsync or 1D. But there is something so different in bts that made me gravitate towards them. They are so special to armys, I feel bts could be a band that can survive time. Maybe they will continue touring when they get older or maybe they’ll close this chapter and begin a new one-get married and start a family. Either way, I have the suspicion Armys will still be around waiting patiently to continue to support them.

Though he admits the age range statistics, even Jino keeps referring to us as teenagers ("your parents don't understand you" yada yada yada). I'm 48. It's not my parents but my children who don't understand me & my fandom. I didn't learn about them through the younger people in my life. This was my own discovery & relationship. I want recognition of this because I think it speaks to the power of their music & phenomenon that older people aren't liking them just by accidental association. Like others I've seen here, this is the first time in my whole life that I've fan-girled ever, & there have been PLENTY of groups/singers that have come & gone (or are, as he said, still going strong in their 50's,60's&70's) over that time, & I just couldn't understand....Uggh! Long winded again, sorry 💜

Same thing with subs on their channel, I think it's time they put subs since BTS reach a way wider audience now, people who are casual fans should too be able to understand how inspirational and what great artist and personalities they have, not everyone has time or is as dedicated of a fan to follow fan translations, it's time bighit gives us subs.

  • @cynthiaperez2232
    @cynthiaperez2232 5 ปีที่แล้ว +120

I think you articulated the relationship between BTS and ARMY perfectly. No one understands. BTS is not just a boy group from Korea. With ARMY, they are a phenomenon. I've been watching what's been happening in the past year. With the BBMAs and the AMAs, BTS just exploded internationally. It's actually kind of frightening. I can understand why the members, themselves, were taken aback and felt so much pressure. RM even spoke about it. Slogans and hashtags erupted across twitter with #RMforpresident, and others kept expecting more and more from them. That's why I believe BTS decided-- as a group -- to take a step back and go back to their roots (as RM raps in Persona).
Meanwhile the big entertainment companies in Korea were scrambling to figure out what Bang PD did and how he roped in all these international fans. What's the trick? Can it be replicated? The same questions were asked at the BBMAs.
But ARMY is like Frankenstein's monster. BTS has brought it to life, but can it be controlled? ARMY is already growing tentacles everywhere in the web. The AHC, or ARMY Help Center, is a great example of a spontaneous group of ARMYs who organized a network of helplines in different languages to help younger members around the world. There are also smaller groups who have organized to effect small changes in their communities, whether it's money for schools or health centers or community outreach of one sort or another. And, because of Map of the Soul, there is now a group of Jungians following BTS closely and discussing lyrics and ideas, etc. Now ARMYs are joining that group to learn more about Carl Jung.
So, what I'm trying to say (and ARMY, don't bash me) is that the fandom now has a life of its own. There's no telling what direction this movement will take. World Peace? hmm. Empowerment of Women? Maybe. A Growing Enlightenment? I think yes.
I think BTS might actually change the world.... Not in a grand way. Not suddenly. But little by little.
Or ... maybe I'm just an optimist.
Will BTS play music into their 70's? I don't know. I think they might end up doing all sorts of other things. They are more than just a music group.

Wow! I loved this reply. These are all things that I have thought and said. ARMY is alive. The love between BTS and ARMY is alive. The love between ARMY and ARMY is alive. I can't even articulate what I see or feel about ARMY. Sometimes I'm scared of our own fandom the power is very real. Many people ask for our help on twitter to raise money for things like Children's Hospitals or something. And ARMY step up and get the money raised in a matter of MINUTES! It is amazing. This fandom is just as amazing as the group we follow. I'm biased of course but that is how I feel.

I am 52. a mother of 2 young adults. We all stan BTS. My daughter was a teen fan at first and she brought me in a few years ago. We have bought countless albums. We have flown across country and attended 3 concerts in 3 cities in the past 12 months. The closest a concert has been to me is 5 hours by car. My daughter became so curious about the culture she spent a semester in SK last fall attending university, traveled and made many friends. She plans to return for a month next summer. We invited a Korean International university student to live with us last semester and have grown very close to her. She is in Busan for the summer but will be spending the next three semesters with us until she finishes her degree.
I willingly spend hours watching translation videos and am learning Korean. I sing words I don't yet know or understand. Many people around me don't get it and I often have a hard time explaining it myself. I was initially attracted by the wonderful genre fluid music and I stayed because of the amazing humans making it. BTS are MORE than music, they are a movement. They are shining their love and light to people all over the world in a time when this world needs it most! And it doesn't matter what age you are, you can relate to the messages. I see BTS making music for as long as they want to.

Hi Jino. I'm 50 and I stan BTS from 2015th, mostly because of my daughter. I studied music and artmanagement, and I have strong reasons to call BTS extraordinary phenomenon. Their music and everything they do has a special power to touch human's hearts and heal the souls. I practise maditation as well, which is focused on inner sound and light as a real manifest of the soul. I'm finding BTS as a cultural revolutioneries, better to say - evolutionaries. They have ability to go deeper and wider. Their recent songs BTS World and Lights are the proof. When I found them around 4 years ago I expected all their siccess because I saw all their potential. All my family are ARMYs but just me sees this cultural revolution that already started all around the wourld. I may sound and look naive but time has changed for the new generations and in the epoch of Aquarius people need exchange of ideas as well. Now people are connected differently and I even thought that ARMY represents different country that exists virtually but still real. I was there that day on Wembley with my family and my husband took a video where I can see and feel better what it was like. The video you choose can't show the feelings when you are surrounded with ARMY's. 'Forever young' was my favorite song for so long but 'BTS World' came out and BTS did it again. Every comeback that they make gives me the feeling and fear that they can't do better then that anymore. But every time they are able to go over themselves and to do even more than taht. Sorry for the long post. Take care and hopefully we'll see what will come next for us and for BTS as new leadership of the wourld.

Difficult to understand Army or try and explain our relationship to BTS. I guess it is one of those things that if you are Army it doesn't need to be explained and for those who are not Army no explanation is possible. There is a saying I have heard a lot from army. "you don't discover BTS, BTS find you when you most need them". They have the capacity to give a warm, safe home to the strays, the downtrodden, the underdogs, depressed and through music and words build them up till they believe in themselves again. Their words and music are like a warm blanket in a sometimes cold world that gives support when you need it most. Unlike alot of Idols BTS havent been afraid to show their weaknesses, their faults and fears. They AREN'T portrayed as perfect. Perfection is a difficult thing for fans to live up to and can also be a little disheartening, as you know you will never be that perfect. But in BTS you see 7 guys who despite their faults and weaknesses through hard work and dedication have succeeded and it's inspirational. BTS are loved because of their music, their lyrics, their dancing and talent. But they are loved on a deeper level . Army sees and relates to their beauty - not the superficial beauty of looks, but an internal beauty that shines from each member of kindness, understanding and love. BTS are far more than a collection of handsome faces in good clothes - Army are the ones who saw, recognised and related to that shining internal light of beauty and like a lighthouse followed it home

So many good points here, I don't even know where to begin. The thought of BTS performing until their 60's is something I never considered. Fascinating to think about! BTS is not K-Pop. Absolutely. Most of us have been saying this all along. Many of us don't even particularly like Kpop. And most fans aren't 13 year old girls. Thank you for acknowledging that. I think I was one of the many who left a comment after you said that. I'm 52, just about to turn 53! I never even liked boy bands when I was a teen in the 80's when boy bands were the craze. I've always liked pop music, but never been crazy about any particular artist or felt the need to attend any of their concerts. Now I'm in my 50's, crazy about BTS, and flying myself and my daughters (21 and 17) across the country multiple times to see BTS in concert. Which makes for some great memories for us. Also, I've made friendships and connected with fans my age online and met up with them in person. Becoming ARMY is one of the best things that's ever happened to me!

As a new ARMY, let me share my story to help those who wonder why BTS has such a range of fans.
My eldest daughter, 15, started listening to DNA, in Nov 2018. Everytime we got in the car, JK’s whistle would come on. She kept insisting that the song was great. Of course, not understanding Korean, I didn’t give it much thought.
I decided to watch the video on TH-cam one day to see why she liked the song soo much. Little did i know that this action would change my BTS mentality.
Not only were my eyes completely enthralled with their visuals and the colorful MV, but with the captions on, the lyrics struck a cord deep within my heart.
That video led me to another, and then another video. Before long, I had seen the majority of their MVs and had discovered years of content of their reality show. Then I discovered the Bangtan Universe and the storylines within the MVs.
Then the UN speech made me realize the message that they wanted to communicate to the world. These were artists that I wanted my girls to look up to.
From there on, it was quite easy to fall In love with their quirky personalities and admire them for their dedication to their artistry.
Upon learning of their stadium tour, I knew that it could be the one chance in our lifetime to see them, so I spent an arm and a kidney to get 3 tickets for us to travel to Los Angeles to see them.
The Boy w Luv MV and every j terview since made me feel the mutual admiration, one that I’ve not truly witnessed before, living here in the USA. Their love for their fans, and vice versa, are yin and yang.
Anyhow, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I wholeheartedly agree with you on your final thoughts that BTS is not just a kpop group. I feel that one day they will be ranked among such great legends as Beatles and Rollingstones.
Even more so, The comment that struck a cord with me the most is that their fans will love them beyond their prime. Take me for example. I was a New Kids on the Block fan when I was 13 yrs old, and am still a fan of their.
I hope that in 30 yrs, if BTS holds a concert, I will still have the ability to attend it.
    ARMY for life. 💜💜💜

I'm leaving another comment even though you may not get to it since you're being flooded, but I've watched this video a few times and it really brought me to tears. For once, I feel that someone finally understands our love and passion for BTS, and yes, ARMY is very precious to BTS, and they are incredibly precious to us. If you watch DKDKTV's explained video of Boy with Luv, David broke it down what that song really means (which we knew the meaning of it already) and in there, he says BTS just wants to protect ARMY which is similar to what you just said, BTS has a higher mission, which is the ARMY. You are right that nothing likes this has happened before, BTS is truly a worldwide group. Also, yes, BTS is not Kpop.
Here's DKDKTV's explained video if you're interested. To others, Boy with Luv is just another song, but to ARMYs, this songs holds deep meanings to us and DK figured that one out w/ his video here: th-cam.com/video/qWGdUwmvSws/w-d-xo.html

I'm 37 and I've been an ARMY for over 2 years now, and one of the things that I love about this whole experience is the chance to see actual music history play out live and in color. I honestly love the fact that this thing is something that none of us expected, none of us can really define, and for which none of us can predict the future. I used to wonder what it would've been like to live during the careers of some of the biggest artists in music history, and now I think I'm beginning to understand it. It's overwhelming, but it's an amazingly fun ride. I just hope BTS is enjoying it as much as we are, because I can't imagine the pressure they're under even as they experience all this love. I hope they're still going when they're in their 60s - I'll be in my 70s then and I'd like nothing better than to be out there decrepitly waving my ARMY bomb, ROFL!

jino, i've noticed you have such a high and delicate sensibility! most people don't really get what bts is about as quickly as you've done (i mean, shit, there are people on youtube whose entire accounts are flooded with bts and they haven't got a clue). thank you for sharing your thoughts. it's kind of hard to put into words the objectively different phenomena that is bts and this profound mutual connection they've built with fans over 6 years. it's hard to explain how they've done it and it's even harder to explain what "it" is. whenever i try, it just sounds like i'm a) crazy and b) romanticizing it too much, but i'm really not either.
it'd be interesting to see what you make of 'burn the stage,' which is a youtube red docuseries bts made in 2017 (but which was released last year) documenting the behind the scenes of their wings tour. (there's a film too, which you can also find here, but i think the series is more thorough). give it a watch if you feel like it!

I am new to your channel and am late to the game, discovering BTS. They say, you find BTS when you need them the most, but that really didn’t happen to me. I’m actually a Coldplay fan and listened to “My Universe”, and watched the documentary (this really dates how much of a newbie I really am to BTS, but I’m afraid to admit, I’m all caught up already). In this song, I found myself really listening to Jungkook and V’s voices in contrast to Chris Martin’s, and even for very small verses, I was hooked though I didn’t know what they were saying- this is a beautiful thing. I listen to some Chinese ballads, and I don’t speak Chinese, but it’s usually through happenstance that I’m hooked on a Chinese song. For example the song was in a movie and bc of the emotional connection I had with the movie, I will look for and download the song. I am also a lover of all types of music genre from rap to 80’s/90’s metal, pop to hip hop, folk to R&B to EDM. I listen to different western artists, but I’ve never been able to latch on to Kpop, while my 22 yr old daughter has tried to get me to listen to BTS covers, Ateez, Seventeen, etc.
I think what drew me in to BTS was how genuine they were in the documentary, first and foremost, and then I started down the BTS rabbit hole ever since, to learn more about their music, and then to also be a fan of dance, and see them translate the music and their emotions through their dancing had me hooked. I have concerns with the Kpop industry and sometimes the fan bases themselves. I’m probably going to get a hate comments after posting this, but whatever... I’ve generalized Kpop as too bubble gum pop, manufactured and disingenuous music, for example you don’t feel the artists’ emotions within the lyrics or within their dance movements, so I was uninterested. But going down this BTS rabbit hole I quickly learned that BTS’ music is something completely outside of typical Kpop, outside of pop, outside of your typical western “boy band”.
I’ve enjoyed listening to your perspective on the Kpop music industry in your previous videos and even your honest opinions on BTS’ songs, good and bad. Everyone should be entitled to their own opinions and individuality w/o all of the hate, this is some of what BTS is preaching. And lastly, I appreciate that you put yourself out there and share more than just reaction videos (e.g. “mystery instrument” in Fake Love). Keep being you!

Here's the longest comment I've ever posted in my life :
First of all, irrelevant but we have the same bias.
Second, the night this happened the whole fandom was crying all around the world. Any Army who watched the performance that night was so overwhelmed by a mix of happiness, pride, love, nostalgia, and a lot of just wanting to go give them a hug and stop their tears.
As if we all were reminded in a flash of all their struggles and hardships, then we're here now, in the 'future' where they made it, where they're in a league of their own, yet still so humble and down-to-earth, still loving us back, and telling us we're in this together, for ever.
Before knowing BTS i was just a fan of good music, i could really enjoy any genre if it fits my mood or the lyrics are good, or.. But since BTS, i know what it is to love a group of strangers and to want to contribute to their happiness, i also know what it's like to belong to a powerful, intimidating, yet so soft family, and that's Army.
Sadly, just like you said, we're still mocked and misunderstood. Specifically here in the Middle East. Imagine me, in my 30s, having to open new YT, insta and twitter accounts because my family, my coworkers and almost everyone around except a handful of people look down at this.. 'intrest' of mine! Judging them by their looks (and nationality, sadly), judging their musical genres, everything. I posted a few chosen clips for some of my fav BTS MVs and I can't describe the backlash I got from them, just imagine a *friend* sending you a simple "I never imagined you were one of 'those'". It really shows how some minds are still not ready for the social phenomenon (beyond the musical one) that is BTS.
Also, the important thing you said about not being able to fit them in a specific genre or group is very relevant. What's so beautiful is that despite having the background you have, you admit that there are so many different and deep things that makes it hard to understand this BTS/Army relationship. Sadly, most of the "journalists", instead of admitting they're different, just try to fit them in the categories they know best, most of them with really condescending tone (@ NYT and BBC in particular) as if they were those intellectuals looking at a crowd of 'commoners' and laughing at their poor taste (I don't know how to describe it any differently). And despite not understanding this bond between us, nor making the slightest effort to analyze some of the lyrics or music, they keep on writing articles about them, and they all come out exactly the same: BTS, that kpop group whose fanbase consisting of screaming 12yo girls keep getting them awards bc of their pretty faces and their social media skills. *🤦🏻‍♀️* in a way it is "If we don't understand it then it's no good."
Then when they get backlash, they act like it reinforces this narrative because Army can't take criticism. You're the living proof we can! You practically trashed Dionysus (and Fire haha), and called out many things you thought were wrong choices or just sounded bad for you. I mean you started this video by stating you found Singularity boring yet we're still here! It's just that you're giving your point of view in a very natural honest way, nor trying to impress us or to provoke us and sound superior either. We really need more people like you around.
The fact that in a very short time, you got to understand Army and BTS better than them, and even felt moved by this relationship, is something really touching and valuable. I can't emphasize enough how grateful I am for your words.
As of their 'mission', I feel and hope it will stand the test of time and get to as many people as possible, making the world a slightly less horrible place.

Jino, why are you making me cry? I went to both days of their concerts in Brazil and i've never felt so much loved before. People say "19 years old and you're crying about these seven korean guys", "go have a life instead of being a fan of a boyband that's like any other one", "they don't even care about you", "they don't even know who you are"...
But they do. It's not just a bond between a fan and an artist. I don't care what people think. I feel like we're all a big family... They can count on us and we can count on them. Both of us are here for each other, we grew together, we've been through many hardships and conquers together...
I'm so thankful, because there are some days I feel so miserable and an evil part of my mind don't feel like do this living thing anymore... BTS gave me the strength and support no one was able to give me. BTS is relatable, they're humans, just like us, and they're not afraid to show the weakness or loneliness anyone can feel at some point of life. They are using their music to speak for all us and gradually teaching us how to speak for ourselves. I'm for sure enjoying this beautiful ride until the very end.

(and there a lot of ARMY’s from all over the world just like me) so I was there witnessed the surprise and cried like a river. In early 2017, I wasn’t a so-called ARMY yet. I encountered this song Young Forever when I was at the bedside of my mom in ICU... at the time, my family didn’t know my mom would make it or not. She got serious food poisoned... I said bye to her in that morning, and next thing I knew she was at ER...flat line... It was so scary, I didn’t know how to process the fact I might lose my mom just like that. This song, Young Forever, somehow saved me and helped me through the hardship. My mom survived! And I became an ARMY ever since!!

Jino you gave me chills while speaking about the Army-BTS relationship! It’s really amazing.. maybe because they’ve always shared with us their struggles when they first debuted and how the kpop industry treated them, and how they didn’t have money to even eat properly. Army determined to push BTS to higher places each comeback in order to face the whole kpop industry that always been downgrading them ! I still remember when they surpassed BigBang in 2015 the Korean media attacked them and accused them for faking sales ! Korean Media always attacked them and downgraded them to the point where it started affecting BTS’s mental health , these struggles are all mentioned in their songs !
Army’s biggest fear is to give Korean Media something to downgrade BTS’s achievements or that BTS go back to that dark era where they struggled with everything!
BTS are so pure, they are the purest people in the kpop industry and despite all of this fame they remain pure how can we not love them on a personal level !
Ok anyways, you said you were also planning to react to Euphoria on Wembley please do it, though I agree the sound quality isn’t the best because it wasn’t really a professional livestream I’m sure they’ll release a DVD where they have a better sound quality ..

Jino, you understand ARMY unlike anyone outside of it. Your words, "They are on a higher mission," made me cry because of how I have seen people so changed by BTS.
I used to be in youth ministry, so I worked with teens and young adults for over a decade. Initially, I watched BTS videos out of curiosity. I was more interested in the relationship between BTS and their fans. I picked up on what you did. This relationship truly has never happened in history, and I wish more people realized it. To see people from all walks of life uniting because they enjoy and connect with this group of guys is incredibly hope-giving.
I used to not call myself an ARMY, but once I watched more videos of the guys, I just became one.
Thank you for reacting to this and posting it.

"They are on a higher mission, and that mission is Army"
Wow you just got the ONE thing about BTS that no one else outside Army has been able to get and comprehend! To back that statement, did you know that they we're about to disband in early 2018? They were at the height of their career (so far then) but they thought the fame and pressure was too much for them (btw Jin said this in his Mama speech im not pulling this outta my ass) but they came back better and stayed together because you guessed it, ARMY. Jimin even said (in a log he recorded & at 2018 festa dinner party) that at one point he wanted to give up he stumbled into a video of Armys singing Young Forever without them and he cried so hard watching it and he reminded himself that oh, why am i thinking abt million other things when the reason that im doing all this is right here? Army. And another thing, Namjoon in his ment once said "If we helped your dream and your life a bit with our existence, our music, our performances, our pictures or videos, even if it’s not big, if we could reduce your pain from 100 to 99, 98 or 97 that makes our existence worthy."
So yeah. You finally cracked the code to BTS :")

I'm honestly just here to clown myself along the rest of Army at Wembley. (And by clowning I mean because Ive cried to this moment quite a few times). And yes we are very aware that the interpreters have been... really not good at all at all the concerts lmao. (Also please listen to Jin's new song "Tonight" on Soundcloud. Not to react, but just to listen. He wrote it for his pets mostly and half the people I know cried together because of it remembering our own pets).
Also please stop making me soft talking about the relationship between BTS and ARMY. We know that theres a genuine relationship and love and that's precisely why we support them in everything they do. (Thank u for your words).

Jino I have been watching your reaction videos tonight and when I got to this one where you talked about the fandom of BTS called Army you seemed confused about it. I am 53 yrs old, no longer a teenager for sure, but BTS makes me feel like a teenager in some ways. My transgender son introduced me to BTS and their music, videos, shows....what I found was so much more than his last group he "loved" ,"One Direction". BTS actually touched my sons heart and brought him out of his depression. Being trans and being unaccepted was very difficult, and it still is. But BTS helped him overcome a lot through their Love Yourself campaign. I saw a new confidence and resilience in my child, and I will be forever grateful to BTS for being accepting to all people. In the beginning BTS was just another way for me to connect with my son, but now they are so much more to me. As I got to know them through their various endeavors I felt a kinship, a friendship, a bond, a love like no other. BTS is so different from any other musician in that they don't just share what we want to see, they share their feelings, their thoughts, and their fears. My life has changed because of them. I cannot go a day without knowing that they are ok. I cannot go a day without hearing their music. I do not like to go a day without watching something they have done. They make me laugh, they make me cry, they bring me joy, and they make me feel loved. And I am slowly learning to love myself again, or actually maybe for the first time in my life. I would so love to have friends in my life like them. I think they fill a void that my life has been lacking for so long now. They teach me to connect with my inner self, my own thoughts and emotions. Most people I am around on a daily basis do not know BTS and really I do not think they could appreciate them because most of them are so close minded. I think that most of the Army have their own reasons for loving BTS, and each story will be different, but that is something we all have in common. They have touched our lives in a very special way. Maybe through them, the world somehow can become a better place, at least that is the dream I dream. Thank you for your input. I love to watch other peoples reactions to BTS. Take care of yourself. Blessings.

I was there that night. Honestly, a lot of us had tried to do a project but it's so difficult to make an entire stadium sing at the same time. The fact that BigHit surprised us with this meant EVERYTHING to me. I have been a fan of BTS for a couple of years now, and I never got the chance to see them because 1) they don't do shows in my country, 2) I was still in college so I didn't have the opportunity to fly to another country. But this tour was a surprise tour that was announced in March. I had just graduated then and I had to go and see them. At first, only one night at Wembley was announced, and I failed to get tickets. I cried so hard. But the day after, they announced a second night, and I made 4 people help me get tickets. Seeing BTS and being with armys will always be one of the best memories that I will have with me for the rest of my life, but the fact that we got to share this beautiful moment with each other made the experience totally priceless and unforgettable. I have been a fan of a lot of people, but nobody has ever made me love them enough to buy their music, their physical albums, their merchandise, etc. It's only BTS. It's the first time that there's a BTS and an ARMY, and there will never be another BTS or ARMY ever again.

Thank you for always being honest with everything you say. I really appreciate it so much. It's so precious that you got to understand Armys and BTS's relationship. I liked how you said you are not Army but you are fan of relationship between BTS and Army. That's all i want from the world tbh. Nobody is have to like their music or style but everybody need to respect us and our relationship. It's not a teenage thing, it is not delusional, it is real love. Between us. As you said this never happened on history and i am so glad that i can live in this history with them right now. Your words mean so much to me because i know that you're a person with high awareness and honesty. You have tastes that which we can agree or disagree but i think that you express yourself with words like 'I like/don't like it or i think' so it's definitely 'your opinion or your taste'. I started listening to Kpop year 2008, I liked the performances and I was watching every group out there at that time whom I honestly learned to admire. Time goes by and I just got over it. Year 2017 when I watched the KDrama "Hwarang", starring V. I've seen clips of him with the members and well eventually I was introduced to the group. I came to know their personality first thru those small clips before I watched a performance of them. I remember watching Melon 2016 and it definitely hit me on the spot. How come these guys who looks so pure, just constantly bickering each other, can do so much on stage. I then checked their songs, lyrics, MVs, not realizing I was being sucked into the fandom, or family rather. My life before BTS was so plain, I was just dragging my self to work and was enduring every day with loads of problems at hand. I thought other fans were just overreacting when they say BTS helped them get thru hell. But in the end, yes, they are hella right. I didn't notice that days were just passing by so fast, it must be true when they say "time goes by faster when you are happy". What? I thought I was stressed before all of this, I was depressed was the last thing I can remember. But here I am now, I'm 27, I still live a simple life but I am much more alive. I am living life with a better attitude, better view towards myself and other people. It might be annoying to others, but when i see sad, depressed people with lost souls, the only recommendation I can give aside from praying is: "Hey, do you know BTS? You should start listening to them. Time to jim in and to accept that where there is hope, there is always hardship."
    To Jino:
I still remember myself crying while listening to "Sea" of BTS. I have learned to move on and accept how things are since then, but my heart is still aching everytime I listen to it. That's how BTS' lyrics can touch a heart, to think that I am just talking about one song of them, and they already have hundreds. And I totally agree with you, I later came to realize that this is not Kpop that I am listening to anymore. This is BTS, and it's a whole new damn world. MIC DROP

I'm glad you looked up the demographics. I've been to 6 concerts now in the US, and when you look around, it's clear that the fandom really goes from age 5 to 90. Women in their 20s are the most common, but older fans are well represented. I'm 35, and I'm a member of a Facebook group of women ranging from late 20s all the way up to their 60s. A lot of them were introduced to BTS by their young daughters, and then they became bigger fans than their kids (even going to concerts without them!)
The other really striking thing you see when you attend the concert is the astonishing diversity in ethnicity: Asian, white, black, Latino, Middle-Eastern, and other races are all very well represented. BTS concerts are the most multicultural events I've ever been to.

In all of my years I have never once been apart of a fandom. There were many singers/groups I liked with different genres but I could never see myself as their fan more like a casual listener. Speaking from experience before and after joining ARMYs that yes in fact we are very misunderstood. I had hard time in the beginning calling myself part of ARMY fandom because of the ways everyone kept saying that its the most toxic fanbase with rude fans etc. But the deeper i got to know this fandom I started to not only appreciate BTS but ARMYs as well. Sure we arent perfect but we are definitely not the worst thing to happen in the world. Now I proudly call myself ARMY and say that yes I support these amazing 7 men who are changing the game not just in music industry but in the world. Love that ARMY has for BTS and vice versa is beautiful, incredible and completely pure. A bit overwhelming but in a good way, the way that makes you feel accepted and appreciated, that you are not alone in whatever you are going through. BTS can never be considered just a boy band or part of kpop anymore. As someone said before they are so much more than simple boyband, they are movement. Not a passing thing we can dismiss ever and I truly believe that unlike fans of others who easily move on onto other groups and singers, ARMYs will always remain at BTS side no matter what future brings and in what circumstances we end up in. That's what's so incredible about ARMY and BTS. Thank you for your time, your honest thoughts. You are one of the rare people who understand us and I just want to say that you are correct about being unable to rate any of this, give scores or whatever, because can we truly ever put a rating on something as genuine and priceless as this is? In my opinion I dont think so. Anyway sorry for such long comment but I really wanted to put in my own two cents on the whole thing, I never usually even comment on videos but this is different. Either way, thank you~

I laughed at the title 😂 but yes this was a surprise performance that was coordinated between army and bighit (they let army know by putting a message on the screens before the encore stage while the boys were backstage I believe).
I really love Tae’s voice but I usually don’t like how his mic is during live performances. It never quite catches the deep part of his voice and is too quiet. But I love singularity and his other solo song Stigma. He also has a self-written song called Scenery that is one of my favorites, I recommend it!
I’ve definitely been laughed at for liking BTS (“lol u like kpop?”) and my friends act taken aback when I’m too passionate about them so I just avoid talking about them now. I’m just glad I have my twitter friends to be excited about BTS with. Like you said, the connection we have with BTS is really hard to describe... they feel like my best friends from afar that I just want to cheer on and see happy, healthy, and succeeding. I sort of feel like they’re our voice and represent our generation. They’re definitely my role models!

    Hi from France!
About singularity: I think the song wasn't meant to be a vocal performance but more a smooth song, full of feelings. I really like this rnb vibe and how it suits taehyung's voice and allows him to use more of his low tone that I love. If you want a vocal performance by taehyung check out stigma live or the solo song he made Scenery.
Now about what you said about army... I just want to thank you for being so willing to understand and I love how your perception of bts and their fans evolved.
The project at wembley was planned by big hit to surprise bts, the boys had no idea. Young forever is a song they wrote when they started to doubt themselves bc they didn't manage to succeed fully in the industry. It's a beautiful song that always moves me a lot. But while I understand what the song means, I dont think I'll ever fully understand how MUCH it means to bts. But what I know is that when in early 2018 the band was having troubling times, each members had hard times and they 'forgot' why they were doing what they are doing. Jimin then told us how one time he spend the night watching their performances and found an audio of army at bts's concert singing young forever and he said he cried so much that day bc he realized again why he was a singer and for who, and he was mad at himself for forgetting that.
It really moves me how BTS are always reflecting on themselves, and how now they always say '' BTS are army, army are BTS. Army are the reason of our existence and we're just repaying their love'' this is such a beautiful thing to say and they show it so much not only in words and performances, but also by making map of the soul:Persona (their latest album) an album fully for us that only us can understand.
I really liked what you said about no one understanding us, bc it's true,my parents don't get it especially my dad. My mom understood more this year bc I was having a very difficult time during my first year of uni and she realized what kept me going truly was bts's music.
In France bts's suffer a lot of prejudice and it's very hard for French army, now when reporters try to interview us, bc of past stupid news outlets and how they pictured us and kpop (when bts is not kpop anymore), we make clear what we want and if they don't accept then we refuse to be interviewed... We were manipulated enough, our words were cut and it's always the same formula 'bts, kpop band with colored hair and perfect choreo, makes teenage girls go crazy with a single wink and they are ready to buy everything''... Médias don't try to understand. I'm hoping it changes soon.
    Keep the good work!

Someone said once that BTS isn't a group, they're a movement.
When BTS decided they all wanted to help people and make the world a better place they became something more than just catchy music and pretty boys that dance and sing. They became people's hope, a reason to get up in the morning, their biggest cheerleader, a friend, a shoulder to cry on, an inspiration that if these 7 boys from South Korea can make their dreams come true with all odds stacked against them then so can I. Most A.R.M.Y. love them as much as they do their own friends or family. Yes, some fans have crushes on them of course but it's more of an "ideal type" thing, and most fans would love to just talk with them over coffee, or spend an afternoon playing games, or go shopping at the super market, or take a walk in the park with them.
This connection developed naturally because the boys didn't ever place themselves higher or lower than the fans, they treat us as peers, as friends. So as much as it's crazy yet possible for a person(ARMY) to love 7 boys that you've never met who sing music in Korean with heartfelt lyrics and give amazing performances while remaining humble and kind off stage, it is just as crazy yet possible that they(BTS) love the millions of fans that support them by buying albums, sending them messages of kindness and love, and who follow in their charitable examples.
People can try and analyze our connection but won't fully "get it" until they become an ARMY themselves. It usually happens when you hear a certain song at the right time, or one of the boys says something very relatable, or watch a performance that moves you to tears, or read a lyric that is inspiring to you personally.
BTS at the start just wanted to be heard, just like so many of us. When they called out, we listened and answered back.
If you get a chance you should check out their song "Whalien 52". It's about the 52 hertz whale which is nicknamed the "Loneliest whale in the world" because it calls out at a frequency that other whales can't hear. The boys use this as a metaphor to describe being different and trying to connect and be heard but nobody seems to listen, but not to give up because someday somebody will hear you.

Thanks for this video. It helped me realize a lot about BTS and their pull. Quite a few of my friends don't get the craze/love for them, and they think that they're overrated and/or their music is just pop with words they can't understand. I always find myself almost frustrated when I talk to them about BTS because there's so much that they don't understand and haven't tried to understand about BTS, yet I can't really put it in words. There's so much stigma around them and their fans that it makes me kind of scared to talk about them to people who aren't Army, and this video kinda makes me less afraid.
I found your channel from a post that someone made on Instagram and I'm very glad that I did, even though I have only watched maybe three other videos. I really like how you're honest with how you view the music, that too has helped me. BTS was the first Kpop group, but I didn't want to listen to just them and have a more "diverse" range of kpop music. It got to the point where I almost tried not to listen to bts and that bts was no longer my favorite artist pretty much just because I thought it was cliche. But after watching your videos I realized that it's ok to actually be honest, not just with music, but with everything else, just as long as it has a real basis, not just because other people said this, because of popularity, etc.
It is hard to find channels like yours, and it's annoying cause so many of them are just dumb fluff, like why don't people videotape their own reactions and watch them (I do kind of understand why people watch those especially with kpop, because for me it was more of a sense of, idk, "belonging" of sharing feelings, since you can't really talk to a lot of nonkpop fans without getting judged, but then the videos get boring, repetitive, stupid). I've only found two others, both singing not kpop-based reaction channels, that are analytical: Tristan Paredes, Sam Johnson. It seems a lot of their opinions come from their analysis. I think for general entertainment and education, they've found that balance of being critical and putting in their opinions, while not upsetting the majority of fans. But even with them, they still get a lot of upset people even though what they said was purely analytical, especially with one of Tristan's newer video, it feels like he holds back a lot because of the previous bash that he got on a similar video. It's a tough field to navigate, though I do think you could add some more analysis and also edit your videos not only so then they're shorter, but also so they more clearly express your ideas/points. I do get possibly why you wouldn't want to edit your videos, it feels more honest and also why put so much time into videos, a majority of which will get copyrighted. Another thing that's annoying because I don't get to see what you and other people think about things I also consume, and I won't get to discover as many new songs. I hope you find a way to not get so many copyrights. I am interested in the songs that you thought had too low of a rating to be shown, but it's unfortunate that so many people are quick to bash.
Thanks for making content and oof at this long af comment.

If you didn't like Singularity, I don't think you'll like Stigma

I agree, and yet everyone keeps recommending it. I love both, but I just don't think those style of songs are best to recommend based off of the past ones that Jino has liked.

Well, I don't like Singularity at all but Stigma is one of my favorites.

honestly singularity and stigma is different in the way that stigma is full of falsetto...

Thank you for reacting to this special moment. We love those boys passionately. BTS has a reciprocal love for ARMYs, much more so (I believe) than artists *typically* have for their fans. At least from a western perspective. Our bond is solid, unique, and incredibly interesting. Two years in, and I still find it fascinating.
