    I remember my first live grenade throw at the range in 1971; The instructor said, "I did two tours in Vietnam... I didn't go through all that to get killed by you. If you drop that thing, your gonna be standing here by yourself."
    I gave it a good heave.... I think it was still moving away when it went off.

    I found throwing 2 live grenades in basic training to be quite exhilarating. I highly recommend it. The experience was also a little terrifying too. 😂

    Unlearning a decade of playing baseball. Right handed left foot is always forward for power. Grenade toss just taught different. Though after training I returned to a normal toss just like baseball for some distance and power.

    It made me remember this conversion i had with a teachers assistant in back in high school where i jokingly told him i wanted to work with live grenades. He told me "i think your insurance is going to be expensive"

    Still gives me a thrill remembering the stress of that, fighting through the fear and still completing the task. Courage is not an absence of fear, it is the overcoming of it, said a much smarter person than me. To this day, and every day, I overcome fear and complete my assigned tasks. Regardless if it is a guy with a shotgun or doing what is right regardless of the consequences.

    No more "Proper Grip, Thumb to Clip, Twist-pull Pin, Strike a Pose, Frag OUT" ??? I guess this is simpler.

    I remember my instructor dropped a dummy grenade in the pit I was in to demonstrate what to do if u didn't make the throw 😂😂

    Anyone watching this and thinking the training is OTT - the problem is that recruits get really nervous and unpredictable when they first handle a grenade. Many vets have a grenade training story about ‘the idiot’ - but I bet you’ve never met ‘the idiot’ in person ….

    My friend worked in the Vietnam War in 1945, Puerto Rican, he retired and died. Juan Negron has a Bunker here in his house in La Chorrera Panama City. His son's name is Raymond. In the 1989 invasion the tanks arrived there. I want to work with you guys. I know a war is coming. I am a law student and I am not a communist.

    I remember my first time I threw a practice m67 when I pulled the pin the fuse was stuck to it and the instructor screamed get down and tackle me down they had it on video 😂 if I could relive it all I would go another round

    At Ft. Sill, there was a soldier who threw the grenade and it literally landed right behind the bunker....we all ran out. I think it was the same spot as the polly shore movie.
