Awesome collection of puddingstone. I had not ever seen one until I saw one on TH-cam. It's now a rock I would love to find. Thank you for sharing your collection of pudding stones on a video for us. God Bless.
@@aaronnelson1099 I can't believe that! My husband and I just stumbled onto your video and we were in awe of those stones. We're just getting started collecting. People can be so pathetic 😞 Have you installed security cameras? I would.
Excellent collection! I have seen smaller ones that were polished in a rock tumbler and they turned out great. It makes me want to go collect some. Thanks for posting. Big like from me.
I've just gotten into hunting for rocks and I live in a small town just about 25 miles from Alpena. I've been mostly looking for rocks along Lake Huron and have found some puddingstones, love them, although my largest is the size of my thumbnail!!! Where would you say you've found the majority of your puddingstones? I'm not asking for your location on the map, I'm just wondering if you find most of them in farmer's fields? large rock piles? rivers? gravel pits? For a beginner like myself, where would you suggest I look for a successful find? And I'll let you know if I have any success!
My wife is a puddingstone collector too, there isn't anywhere she goes that she isn't looking for one. We are from Michigan, and she likes to take a day drive up around Cheboygan and walk Lake Huron shorelines......in the water looking for them. You have a nice collection.....she would be envious!
The pudding stone is beautiful. Love the red jasper. I have several red Jaspers I bought at a local crystal store. The pudding stone around here is very plain next to yours. Love your collection and thanks for sharing. ✨
Aaron Nelson , most definitely do another video. Maybe one of you discovering some new stones. The hunt and discovery is exciting for your viewers as well as you. Some of us can't get out to rockhound or we live in an area where the rocks are not so interesting. Rocks rule! Thanks for your response. 😊
Going back thru some of you older vids looking for one of your older cooking videos. I’ve always been a bit of a rock hound myself but never seen anything like this over in NH . My wife just shakes her head when we’re hiking and I’ll say “ hey throw this rock in my pack for me” thinks I’m nuts. Oh well.... Do you typically find these in water ? Really cool stuff Aaron
Oh my gosh. I am so sorry for your loss. It's so hard to believe that some idiot would be so low to take something so dear because you worked so hard to gather them for your garden and for others to see. I appreciate you so much for you to share the video for us to see. I hope you will find them soon. I will pray for you on your loss. This might sound weird but nevertheless, I will. God Bless you and your family. I hope to hear some good news about the recovery of them.
Conglomerate phenocrysts are all or predominantly rounded by water action. Those of breccia are angular. You appear to have fine collection of breccia. A TH-camr from the Midwest US has stated the matix is quartzite, not sandstone and the phenocrysts are all of chert, not just jasper
that is a hell of a collection . this is only the second video about puddingstones I've clicked on , never heard of them before this . thanks to the fish not biting on this day alright . (I mean all darn)
OMG! Aaron that's why I don't have Facebook & try not to share too much with people. I know I would be one of those people on Facebook that would tell people I'm going out of town for the weekend and somebody would probably break into my house. Sorry for your loss Hun...
Hi, Aaron! I am big, BIG into Petoskey stones over here in Charlevoix, and would like to get into pudding stones, but don't know where to go. I make an annual trip to Rogers City and find one small pudding stone there each trip. I've found more than that over here in Lake Michigan! Would you share ideas of where to go?
Hay!! I woild be glad to tell ya! I hunt in famers fence rows and fields! Freshly tilled is the key just ask farmers hate all rocks or if you see a pile road side......Look for the red Jasper!! Hope this helped good luck!
These are gorgeous! Where did you find them? I have never found any that beautiful! There is a Pudding Stone and More Auction Group on Facebook. You should join it. My cousin also told me to look near farmer's fields for them. I am envious of your collection. Nice work collecting them. Fran
Aaron I just read your comment on Shlisa's video and I so sorry someone took those. Those are very beautiful stones. I hope they left the ones in the back alone. A**holes everywhere! So sorry.
@@aaronnelson1099 .... I am so terribly sorry this happened to you. I know it don't help you now, but I hope their thieving hands fall off. Sounds mean, but I'm so sick of people stealing from people. I hope you can invest in some kind of security system with cameras ..... and work on a new collection of rocks. Wishing you the best.
Found 2 in a farmers field pile this spring. I new they were puddings but that's about it, so I left them. Guess I'm too stupid to understand the value of them. I'm always keeping my eyes open for flint even though there doesn't seem to be much around my area. Find some cool stones now and then.
Can they come in other colors mine brown with lighter color I found it in the Mississippi river I found fossil's there for sure I found shells on a rock Petoskey stones and Petrified wood my found wood too
Very nice collection! In the comments you mentioned finding them in fresh tilled fields. I know it is random where one will pop up, but how difficult would you say it is to find one that way? I found my first good sized one among some shore rocks today, but I'd think it would take a long time to find them in a field where the rocks aren't as densely gathered. Just trying to figure out if it would be worth bothering farmers since I don't already know any. I also like to find rocks like unakite, fossils, and jasper. I live in the lower peninsula so I'm not sure if that would drastically hurt my chances. Thanks for any advice.
Thanks Mr.Fox! Bout every 50 yards I find one but might not be really good, but for every 5 or so I find will be good worth carrying out! Shores in MI are all good too! Just simply keeping your eyes pealed while driving for piles next to the road have had good luck as well! Hope my advice gives you a hint thanka again! Good luck! Look for red!!
Thanks for the advice. Doesn't sound as bad as I thought. Since I'm getting a late start might wait on asking farmers until next year. Have been mostly beach hunting and looking at landscape rocks. Ever find small pudding stones in landscape rocks? I mostly find unakite and fossils. Similar to your idea, I've thought of offering to weed landscape rocks for people in exchange for keeping what rocks I want(I'd have to bring some stones to replace them though). Who knows maybe I'd get lucky and get tips for my work too
Actually got lucky since my post and found 6 pudding stones(somewhere around golf ball size or a little bigger) in 2 landscaped areas. Really got my hopes up that I'd be rolling in pudding stones if i kept searching landscapes, but I've searched a bunch of landscaped areas after that and haven't found more. So either I was really lucky with those 2 spots or a lot of the other landscaped areas were already picked over. I'll keep searching. Thanks for the reply.
I was just letting you know the proper term.. it has nothing to do with being slow, and I hope you didn't take offense at my correction. You really have a wonderful collection. Did you know those rocks are over a billion years old? Crazy stuff! Keep collecting!
None taken, thanks I have collected for a couple years now! Need to get a lapendary saw, and could really make some cool stuff! Crazy cool! Thanks Jacob!
Great collection. Becareful if you are collecting in the great lakes region, You said you have been collecting for about 2 years. You are only allowed to collect 25 lbs per year. That means you have collected about 50 years worth.

The red is called Jasper it is a semi-precious stone, conglomerates are mostly white stones mixed in with no red! I need as lapendary saw with a 12" diamond blade or a water jet would be sweet! But we are talking some dollars there! Pocket breaking dollars!
