Hi from New Zealand, here in winter - I'm a farmer by the way - some of us use tandem axle feedout wagons or trailers with flotation wheels/tyres, they still sunk a bit in the mud but not as badly as those razor blade tyres you're using lol. You do well accomplishing as much as you do with the equipment you have, but if you can afford such wheels as I mentioned you're efficiency level would be through the roof! Also a culvert or death pipe on that swampy corner would have solved your soup problem and your creek/stream isn't all that far from that corner, but I can't judge elevations from the video so don't know if that was really an option. Regardless, good on you for persisting and getting the job done even when it seems hopeless, love your channel/content and all the best for 2025
Hey Ok what you need to do is wrap rocks in fabric across the road every so often then on low side have drain for the water to run to creek. You can also do this when you dig a lot of material out. When we have water problems on are main roads we will fill with stone wrapped in fabric You have just got to become boss of the water. You will also find a drain on high side of road will help. Cheers
He need rocks for rock walls already :D seems like very much time planting rocks so you never see the beauty :D i mean how much will he drive on his forest road on flood time, i mean early spring, i belive pretty much none, i think he rushed because he wanted mud free road so he can delete mudfest at yard with asphalt gravel
Nice to see you work on this. You need to give the water a place to go to, when it sits in a spot it gets soft. I am not sure how to tell you to fix it though. I would dig a ditch to a lower point and see if you can get the water to drain out. If that works, maybe put it in a pipe or make the ditch look pretty. The other choice is to dig it all back up, go deeper, and fill the hole back in with big stones, cover the big stones with the fabric, then put your sand and gravel mix on top of the fabric. I don't know which way to tell you to go, either way costs money, the ditch is quicker and cheaper and will be needed anyway....I would try that first.
Hi I really am sosososo very happy you keep coming back because I really love to watch what you make and I really love your idea 💡 ok love Lorilee xoxoxoxox 😊
I welded a hitch receiver to the top of my skid steer bucket and makes moving and steering a trailer easy by pushing in forward with the wheel loader instead of pulling with tractor..
*- Andris, my lady told me she likes your voice.* *- I think she also finds your griping humor soothing, too, since things aggravate her and your demeanor vents that for her.* *- So...thanks.*
You can also use beafy wood blocks/logs in your hill tracks. (Cheap option versus concrete). Here in finland we have old houses which have wood/log foundation. If you put logs place where it can not get any air/oxygen it wont never rotten away. Last like thousands of years. It doesnt matter how wet that place is. Just that matters that the wood dont get air/oxygen. Logs would just be the "base" for your tracks and fill the surface with anything you like.
There wasn't enough time for the whole complete job because of the weather, but ideally you would backfill and finish the road starting from the pit, always reversing the gravel trailer to the end of the road, dumping a few loads, and finishing that section with the bobcat right away. That way you would always be driving on a finished, solid road, and the fabric wouldn't be able to move as much of you gave it a good covering of gravel right away. The backfilled yard with the rock walls looks really nice! Have a nice Christmas and don't forget to make yourself some hot chocolate Andris!
Andris, you can do it, your Mr. Motivation! Your the hardest working man on TH-cam. I feel guilty , sitting on my couch watching you work so hard. For the super wet part of your road can you not dig a sump pit 20 metres away on low side of the road and run some perforated corrugated pipe to drain the water away. It looks like it will be chronic issue otherwise.
@@Ants_PantsHmmmm! Love the intent of the project. There are only 3 ways to deal with Mother Nature when she wants water in a location a) drain it away, b) pump it away c) give her the win and build the road in a new location.
@ maybeeeeee, but remember that a spring or a natural drainage area will not change, and the water table will rise in wet times of the year (certainly the spring, and rainy periods). You could beat this by digging a 20 metre trench (French drain) perpendicular to your road in the wettest area to a new low area and fill it with your good material from the pit. At the end of your trench dig a sump pit and also fill with you good material. Now let Mother Nature deal with the water from the sump pit.
Look forward each week for your video. Really feel you should have reached 100,000 by now. Have worked construction my whole life and Never met anyone with the perserverece that you have. Have heard you mention camarrata in the past. You are by far much more than him. Stay strong and happy new year.
Great video as always, happy new year to you and the family. **Winter project suggestion to help with the dirt projects come spring, turn one of the round tanks you stored out back into a pull behind (or push with the bobcat) roller to help compact and flatten the gravel every where.
What’s funny is, I currently live in Iwakuni, Japan. In Japanese, Iwakuni means “Rock Village”. I think where you live should be called Iwakuni, so many rocks and boulders where you live. I always like watching your videos, great content and you are definitely a comedian.
For the hill road from the cabin to the creek, if you put cinder blocks or rocks into the wheel path, it will just be more slippery, so you might have a harder time getting up that hill, if you manage at all. The dirt/gravel you have now gives you much better traction, but the price is that you can dig out holes if you spin out. The best would probably be a tick layer of some compacted railroad gravel, basically medium sized sharp edged rocks. Renting a vibrating compacter plate or roller might help to get a more solid road bed and surface as well.
Happy new year! It seems to me that you could use several trailer loads of rocks (which appear to be in abundance on your property) to cover & fill the muddy areas on your driveway. The rocks could be compacted into the mud (using your skid steer loader), then covered with gravel (as you have already done). I think the rocks would form a solid road bed that could be built up with gravel to create a smooth road surface, above the mud. Once the the compacted rocks are visible at the level (or slightly above the level) of the mud surface, I think a solid road bed will have been created that could then be covered with gravel.
#Tip To stabilize the ground on a hill or mountain, you could create a strong base by mixing cement with gravel without adding water, rather than building a structure with blocks.
When the ski boat fishermen launch their boats into the water on the south African beaches they have their boats on front mounted on the 4x4's, then race down the beach, slam on brakes to watch the boat slide into the water with the motors already running 🏃♀️, the driver then dumps the Toyota away from the ocean and sprint down to the waiting boat, they will have been frantic dealing with waves coming at them. Point is... front mounted trailer is far far easier to use, good video dude.

Road fabric definitely works. I have used it over marshy clay dirt and the road has held up years later. But I like to use a base of large gravel, 3" works well. Then top coat with progressively finer gravel.
Mud music...... Eeeeexelent! The slow avalanche under the tree stump and you saying Noooo! was epic! Yeah, it is the wrong time of year for road building but at least you have a head start on the spring time work. Your idea for the hill is a good one, many boat ramps here in the pacific northwest have concrete rams with horizontal grooves going across them for extra traction.
Yay Andris. Hope Santa was good to you? I was thinking if it would be a good idea to make your stream a lot deeper and make a big pond so fish can grow bigger?
@@Ants_Pants Actually the question is interesting! What are the river laws in Estonia, are you allowed to alter the river (obviously not blocking it) or is it forbidden? Pond would be pretty nice looking addition to the riverfront part of the property but no idea if possible there....
I think a nice winter project would be a roller to go on the front of the bobcat.. a couple of concrete filled oil drums with a hollow pole through the middle to hold an axle in true Ants Pants McGyver style. For the hill can you remove the mud the way you did on the other side and perhaps change the gradient of the hill when you backfill to start closer to the stream and finish further up closer to the house so that the climb will be smoother? Anyways Mr Anton, I wish you and your family a prosperous new year, all the very best from Clan Sorby in constantly wet Scotland

I have been working in and around quarries for over 30 years, digging their archaeology. Everything from massive hard rock and huge aggregate pits for multinational companies down to small family pits and heritage hard rock quarries you could fit inside your lawn. All I can say is Blimey the laws must be different over your end of Europe as here your neighbour would be closed down faster than you could say Hi. Cor …. and have a Happy New Year
Hmm I think you would benefit from having a drainage ditch in conjunction to the road. Or at least have a few drainage points where it collects most water. I guess you are not allowed to drain directly into the stream so a building a stone coffin to lead the water into might be an option!? And for the to buy/build list: a grading blade to pull behind Blue tractor 😬 Looking forward to the next episode, far too many days between uploads 😉 Happy new (drier) year!
I don’t know if you know what I’m talking about on the scraper for the trailer! Good video Andris, thanks for sharing brother! I’m running behind on watching videos and I’m trying to catch up! Hello! You could build a blade for the tractor, like an autograder blade to smooth the roads and spread the material evenly on all the surface. For the road, you need to build a strong base / foundation, like on a house. Boulders should be enough. I had same problems with my road and I had to carry loads of boulders (big ones) and spread them over the sinking area until the backhoe stopped sinking into the mud. Luckly we had a big pile of boulders left from the WW 2-nd close to our road and we used them. But I'm telling you, as the back hoe was carrying them and spred them on the road, the second he stepped there, the boulders would vanish. After we set the sinking spot to a much solid one, we spread the fine gravel, without any fabric. And you should also cut some ditches on the side of the road, otherwise the water will wash it away. Meanwhile, take care of you! I wish you happiness, good health and a happy new year for you and your beloved ones!
Thanks Andris for your vid 😇💗💗💗 love and bless you all guys 💖 happy and lucky new year 🕛 you need a French drain by the house it's getting wet there the whole time and maybe put bigger rocks in the bend in the road where it is so wet in the forest.
2 pieces of equipment you really need: Wood Chipper Rock Crusher Wood Chips make excellent bedding for road, soaks up water, doesn't move around, cheaper than landscape fabric. Rock crusher for to make tarmac, concrete, fill holes.
Nice view of your and the surounding properties. Keep the roadwork paused until its dry enough to continue maybe try to put a drainage to the wet deep spot. Happy New Year to you and all the family
Hello,I think you need to fix the bucket on your excavator i saw something broken but im not sure haha, and if you put a bigger bucket to haul gravell on the excavator maybe it will be faster or it will not work ? Idk just had that edea haha anyway great vedeo and happy Christmas
Yes its a Bad idéa too drive direcly on fabric ,, i use excavator to lay a layer of gravel on fabric before i drive on it, dump gravel behind excavator and turn around and lay it out on fabric,, keep on the Hard work ,love your videos
Can you get any more of that recycled asphalt that you used previously on one of your access roads? It makes a really good road base and lasts for a long time.
In addition it would be better for the excavator if you had what we call here in Australia a scraper bucket. It is approximately a metre wide and would be very useful for cleaning up the road base.
Hi Andris! Have you considered building a jaw crusher? With all the road and concrete work you do, a DIY source of angular stone could help. It would be good winter-time fabrication and good video content material. Angular rock performs better than round rock because it interlocks and resists sliding/shifting and rolling. You could then make your hill track a proper road with some geo-textile fabric and crushed rock. Just an idea. Btw, Ants Pants is so cool, when sheep can't sleep they count him! 😎 🤘
I really think that the more work you do like this the more I'm thinking that you should consider the grading machine to be a priority, I think it will help you a lot. As far as the hill is concerned I think you should be mixing dry cement in with the gravel your mining it will give you a really strong foundation. Great video once again Mr Pants and well done for keeping going despite the problems on the road. 🙂
Hi Mr Hard Worker There is material called geo grid but dont know what is called in Estonian. It is made of plastic and come in the rolls like you bought the fabric. In England we use that material like your wet situtation, Its give very good ground support for gravel not let become soup. That material is plastic grid like we use metal mesh but with very small holes. One other thing you try is every time you drive try not go in same track and this will try compact you gravel very well. Best of luck and have very HAPPY NEW YEAR 2025
For your hill I would suggest you do similar to what you have been doing. Clean out topsoil and mud and get a good base down to 6" below finished height. Put down a layer of your geo textile cloth and top with 6" of gravel mix. I don't know what you call it where you are but it's a mix of 3/4" gravel and smaller plus fines. It packs to an almost concrete like consistency.
Thanks everyone and i will see you next year have a good one 🎉

Everything from massive hard rock and huge aggregate pits for multinational companies down to small family pits and heritage hard rock quarries you could fit inside your lawn. All I can say is Blimey the laws must be different over your end of Europe as here your neighbour would be closed down faster than you could say Hi. Cor ….
and have a Happy New Year
Why would he be closed down?
Hmm I think you would benefit from having a drainage ditch in conjunction to the road. Or at least have a few drainage points where it collects most water.
I guess you are not allowed to drain directly into the stream so a building a stone coffin to lead the water into might be an option!?
And for the to buy/build list: a grading blade to pull behind Blue tractor 😬
Looking forward to the next episode, far too many days between uploads 😉
Happy new (drier) year!
Same to you
You really do have amazing topsoil 🎉 and 2 meters deep in spots.
Yes we do
I agree with you, there is just to much moisture in the ground this time of year to finish the road. But hey, it made great video content!😁
Lol ye
I don’t know if you know what I’m talking about on the scraper for the trailer! Good video Andris, thanks for sharing brother! I’m running behind on watching videos and I’m trying to catch up! I love your channel and content my friend! Please stay safe and healthy my friend! Kirk from across the ocean sending prayers and positive vibes to you and your family my brother! Take care!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇺🇸🙋🏼✌🏻💯💯💯
Will keep it in mind
@@Ants_Pants I think it would solve the problem of rocks and dirt packing between the wheels
Well done for your perseverance, it’s very demoralising but you kept going. Great video again. Happy New Year to you, best channel on TH-cam. See you next year
Happy new year!
Good idea with the boulders
mudskipping again and again and again.....have a great 2024 sir
jestes niesamowity
kocham takich ludz z pasja
Thanks Andris for your vid 😇💗💗💗 love and bless you all guys 💖 happy and lucky new year 🕛 you need a French drain by the house it's getting wet there the whole time and maybe put bigger rocks in the bend in the road where it is so wet in the forest.
Happy new year!
2 pieces of equipment you really need:
Wood Chipper
Rock Crusher
Wood Chips make excellent bedding for road, soaks up water, doesn't move around, cheaper than landscape fabric.
Rock crusher for to make tarmac, concrete, fill holes.
yes
Thanks for your vid Andris there is almost nothing to look at this time of the year 😀👍👌👏👏👏
You got that right!
I'm so sad you had to stop your work. Hopefully you'll be able to finish soon .
Good luck. Prayers your way.
I hope so too
Nice view of your and the surounding properties. Keep the roadwork paused until its dry enough to continue maybe try to put a drainage to the wet deep spot.
Happy New Year to you and all the family
Great idea
Hello,I think you need to fix the bucket on your excavator i saw something broken but im not sure haha, and if you put a bigger bucket to haul gravell on the excavator maybe it will be faster or it will not work ? Idk just had that edea haha anyway great vedeo and happy Christmas
It needs new teeth most of all
Yes its a Bad idéa too drive direcly on fabric ,, i use excavator to lay a layer of gravel on fabric before i drive on it, dump gravel behind excavator and turn around and lay it out on fabric,, keep on the Hard work ,love your videos
Thanks for sharing
I think a good idea would be to build a sort of a big roller attachment for the old blue at some point. It would be good for compacting the roads
Yeh
Lots to do, a little here a little there, nice going, Ant
Thanks Peter
We have a creek like yours at my dad’s place. The crossing is ALL rocks that have been driven over for 85 years. It is really pretty.
Nice
A forward tipping dumper is what you need make ur long draws a lot easier and a lot easier to get around
Yeh i will hopefully next summer. Its about 450 eur per load though. Expensive stuff
Haha 😂 sheep
Andris, thats a lot of mad…n a lot of work… merry Christmas to you n your family…
Great video. Looking forward to more in the New Year.
Happy new year!
Thanks for the video, appreciate it. Hope Santa found you and your family.
I hope so too
I really think that the more work you do like this the more I'm thinking that you should consider the grading machine to be a priority, I think it will help you a lot. As far as the hill is concerned I think you should be mixing dry cement in with the gravel your mining it will give you a really strong foundation.
Great video once again Mr Pants and well done for keeping going despite the problems on the road. 🙂
Cool idea
Hi Mr Hard Worker
There is material called geo grid but dont know what is called in Estonian.
Best of luck and have very HAPPY NEW YEAR 2025
Happy new yr mate
Nice job Ants.
Thank you AP, happy new year to you and the family.
Happy new year!
The hill is mostly the same stuff. Very little mud there.
YAY FRIDAY ANTSPANTS POSTING....it took me a full minute to get the date joke...
You should build some kind of compactor to pull with the soviet tractor
