  • Today, I welcome you into my world. I let shame, guilt, and defeat get the best of me. FIVE HOURS I struggled, dysregulated, frustrated, overwhelmed, with negative thoughts ruminating in my mind: you suck, this is stupid, why even try, you can't do this, stop while you are a head. SOUND FAMILIAR?
Perfection comes from childhood. Where we are looking for validation and greatness only to be told we aren't good enough, the things we do aren't good enough, and we will never amount to anything. Those things stick. Perfectionism comes out as shame and guilt in trauma survivors. We feel guilty and shameful when we can not complete a task or see it as unfinished. We will spend HOURS perfecting something so it's perfect in our eyes. It crushes us when what we thought was perfect isn't to someone else, and the shame and guilt flares up again.
We all have the innate power to overcome any struggles and challenges we face. By working on your limited beliefs and yourself, you are able to find the root cause and connect the dots. When you start practicing self-love, self-gratitude and worthiness slowly start to appear. We are able to valid ourselves in a positive manner, which allows those barriers of shame and guilt to come crashing down. It's a process, oh yes, it is. But that's the beauty of recovery
