Stranded At Sea and Forced to Eat Each Other (True Story)

- After being rammed into by a whale, this crew had to abandon ship and pack into small lifeboats, hundreds of miles from land and almost no chance of survival. Miraculously, 2 members of the stranded crew did make it back alive, but their story of how they survived is truly horrifying. Check out our new video about a ship wrecked crew that went on to inspire the classic work of fiction "Moby Dick" and see how the lucky crew members managed to survive this terrifying ordeal.

"Preparing for the adventure of your life." Hmmm..... it was definitely unforgettable.
What does that mean
Noah Kilbane Would you forget a trip where people start eating each other?
It would be an unforgettable experience and horrifying
I keep seeing your comments on evey video I watch
Me in Minecraft about to fight the ender dragon in a nutshell
Staying on an island like 3 did was a way better choice, since it had fresh water, shelter, and you can hunt for food/fish.
Yep exactly, very smart of them, must have taken guts
It's a no brainer I'm surprised only three people stayed
Didn't you hear it when the narrator said the island is barren?
@@krsnrr_ Even if it's barren, it's still a better place to survive than on small boats surrounded by salt water and danger, while hundreds of miles away from the nearest place of people.
GTacadena still easier to be on solid ground for humans... better chance of catching rainwater
We can’t survive without water.
Also even in a barren waste land... there are always ALWAYS insects.
🤷🏾♀️
The worst part is the Captain's sister was reluctant to let her son go whale hunting but the Captain promised her he would protect the boy & bring him home safely.
He kept his words, now the nephew is one with the captain, forever! 😳
@@ilkkarautio2449 Nah... He probably took a huge dump afterwards and dropped him in the ocean..
@@certifiedyaminspector-dadd6224 I mean that the captain kept his nephews soul. Thats why the dead are eaten in some places. Its a bonding ritual.
Nom nom nom
Mako07 under the same circumstances, I bet you would eat your nephew too.

A couple of years ago, scientists were able to resurrect the Floreana tortoise, so yay!
How was Owen killed? I can't imagine the sheer terror of being in a small enclosed space with nowhere to go but to jump overboard and just waiting to be killed. The commitment of these men to one another is incredible
He was shot in the head
He wrote a letter home to his mother, then said a prayer, and him childhood friend shot him. In the Heart of the Sea, Nathaniel Philhrick.
He was shot with a rifle

Nantucket’s history was pretty bad in terms of exploiting nature. Actually, Massachusetts as a whole is known for that. Living in MA, I get constant reminders of this every day.

Just like quarantine
still more understandable than that dude that ate his dog after they lost each other and the dog went back to him after days just to be eaten and thrown up
wait wuuut?
Ah i see, Hunger
This sounds a lot like the movie: “in the heart of the sea” i thought that movie was fictional but apparently there is some truth in the movie.
The movie is based of a book of the same name. The author spent a lot of time researching. The book uses information gathered from Thomas Nickerson's journal where he wrote about what happened.
Love infographic from Mauritius island.
*Just awesome*
I love your videos.
Sound of the humans speaking in the infographics show is so humorous to listen to. Some reminds me of fast talking telephone speakers.
Ask A Mortician did an excellent video telling this story in even more gory detail and with historical context.

The true irony is that the captain originaly didn't want to go to America but rather some small islands. He was rejected by the crew because they thought that there were cannibals on them. It's suspected that if they would go to the islands all 20 men would survive
