I have an early 80's Ricoh ovoid shape watch R31 movement I bought it as a beater watch 10 yrs ago totally original lovely watch I paid £25 delivered I have worn it nearly every day since still going strong.
Very cool video, thanks! Inside one of my X Games watches, as you know an Orient sub brand here in Brazil, there is a Ricoh module. X Games have a bunch of those anadigis in which you press a button and LED like numerals in blue, red or green come up. Surely those are using Ricoh modules as well. So they are still involved in watches, in some way connected to Seiko/Orient.
You know I really wanted more on their dive pieces, were they all "homages", I bet a Dive Watch from Digital Brands, featuring quartz dive watches from big brands and stuff like Ricoh and Citizens auto pieces, after all Citizens recent co development of the Powermatic 80 is a bold step and natural end point, viewer gold mate.
Need to do something on affordable modern mechanical movements . Powermatic 80 an interesting one to look at. Perhaps as part of tissot … a brand I’ve not done yet (outside the soviet vid)
Hey hey - best way is an Instagram direct message on my illuminating watches account. Would love to see it - pre warning that I’m not a super expert on them. The guy that runs the vintage digital watches channel is much more of an expert
I’ve used a variety of sources. For the analogs I used a Japanese reference book in Takano / Ricoh watches. For the digitals there is a book called electrifying the wrist watch that helped with some of the references (they are normally located in the front of the watch)

Apparently the dressy quartz I own is extremely elusive, it escaped your impressive researching abilities. :) I've never seen it anywhere outside my watchbox. I actually have an eBay search out there for it, for a viewer.
Noooo I missed one ! Ha ha I didn’t cover a whole bunch of the Quartz and mechanicals. I’d meant it to just be digital but got lost down the rabbit hole and couldn’t resist going a bit broader
If you enjoyed this video on Ricoh - you will likely enjoy another video I did on orient digital watches -> th-cam.com/video/cBOXLrpzxzg/w-d-xo.html
I have many Ricoh watches, Tiger Eye, Grand Monarch, Apex 😊 I love Ricoh watches.
Nice! It’s a topic I’ve not seen covered so much elsewhere so was glad to contribute!

I Iike my vintage1980 Ricoh Anadigi with cal.120. I bought it direct from Japan. Very good quality.
I have a 1981 Ricoh 122010 ana digi, it's a great watch. Very handsome handset, and the minutes hand moves once per minute which is deeply satisfying.
Another great video! I always learn something watching your content. 🤓
Thankyou! Bit of edutainment :)
Great video. Really love the ana-digi ones with the big beveled chapter rings.
Thankyou! Much appreciated!

Oh nice!! I’d not made the Ricoh link so that’s adds more fuel for the Brazil video. It IS coming

As a Canadian when I think Ricoh I think copier or label printer.
Very interesting already looking on eBay 😂
Ha ha yes I think many people
Have that association. They had some cool watches!
How to find the manufacturing year of a Ricoh watch?

I’m a big fan of the Japanese brands - as I’m sure you will see from the channel!
They also did a Rolex day date homage.
Is the one at 3:05 the one you mean ? Or different ?

Those Chateau pieces! Love this video! I knew NOTHING about Ricoh prior to finding the brilliant little squarish Ricoh dress watch I own.
The Takano chateau is very class
@@IlluminatingWatches Well crap. Now I have ANOTHER eBay search. hehe
