I'm a cowboy hat freak lol- iv been collecting cowboy hats for 45 years, in the old days you could find cowboy hats in salvation army and others second hand store for as little as $2 dollars I remember back in the 60s and 70s finding stetson hats in the box in those stores but today it's very rare, in the last 20 years iv been buying them New mostly stetsons but there's other USA made cowboy hats companies that make good hats in the older days it was very unusual for companies to make 100x like today most were 3x6x and some 10x , at the moment I believe I have around 300 most were from the 40s 50s and 60s , but around 50 are Newer, I have a friend that collects cowboy boots some are very beautiful but I always joke around that I can wear almost all my hats but he can't do that on boots because of the size , my last 12 are 2 stetson presidente 5 El patron and five stetson griffin 100 X, I think the reason why I love cowboy hats is because I grew up in south Texas with my grandpa and grandma and I remember my grandpa used to have about 15 or 20 stetsons and I used to wear them too my grandpa used to say - I can't go out the door without my hat it's like going without pants.
I'm about to order the Stetson Hagerman, I'm gonna use your code. First cowboy hat, I want a solid straw cowboy hat for the warm weather here in Tenneessee, then move on to a good beaver felt hat for cooler weather and special occasions. I'm excited and I'm getting more into western wear and the culture of horses and western lifestyle. Hello, These hats are water resistant. Not much will happen to these 10x cowboy hats with some light rain. They are lacquered enough for water not to get in between the weave.
Hello, the Fairmont Gus seems like a long oval. It did not have any tags or accessory that said long oval, but did feel like it. I usually wear a 7 3/8 and was really tight on me on the sides.

Great video, and nice explanation on the different hats. I just bought a Stetson Lobo 10X straw cowboy hat today in 7 3/8...love the fit and love the look! Any idea if there is a way to protect the hat with some additional spray coating? I live in the Pacific Northwest and plan on only wearing this hat in dryer weather, but want to make sure it's got a little extra protection in case I get in a rain shower.
