Are there actually Balinese people that get offended when there is no leftover on the visitor's plate? 🍽️
@@clowderrrnot offended, but some people in indonesia generally want to be seen as modest or able to take care of themselves when visiting others. Leaving a bit of food or not finishing your drink entirely kinda means "I'm good, I don't really need this food/drink". For me, it's a stupid tradition and I actually see more and more people, even one generation above me, admit that they don't like that too.
That tradition still somewhat exists in less urbanized places (ie. poor people in village), other than that you don't really have to worry about it. Even so, you have to know your place.
- Leaving food as someone who's from poorer background when visiting a rich person house means "I'm good, this food doesn't amaze me".
- Leaving food as someone who's rich when visiting a poor person house means "This food doesn't taste as good as what I usually eat".
All foreigners are basically deemed richer than locals, so you should always clean the plates to respect their foods
eh, kau makan pake sumpit emang?
Hey ! You're a Hindu 😊😊
question: where is it that it isnt rude to lick your plate? i thought licking your plate was rude everywhere but in the video it said something about it so idk...
Sincerity is highly valued in Russia, which is why it is not customary for us to smile "out of politeness". You smile when you are genuinely happy and cheerful. We are not always gloomy, with friends we always laugh and smile, because we are genuinely glad to see them. A Russian appreciates it more if you are honest with him than if you try to put on an insincere smile.
And how is it in your country?
i live in hell.
Smiling at a stranger is just to keep the mood up, not to be “insincere” or “dishonest”.
I love how he yelled "Privet" like it's something intimidating. It's just saying hello😂
Well to be fair, something very worrying has happened when you just casually hear uniformed man speaking Russian on the street.
Damn, it'd be intimidated, even out of the joke context of his accent, strangers don't say that to you, plus it's not really like hi/hello in English, you never say privet to a new person or someone who's not close to you or younger than you (in informal setting).
it ain't just hello according to google, in the local language it can mean hey, hello or hi so yeah it could be any but it depends on how your using the word, in this case he'd most likely be saying hey! as in what are you doing?

Smiling isn't rude, but confusing and sometimes creepy. If you stare at someone and smile they might think that you are drunk/high or just creepy. It's not because " Russia is a country of sad people where no one smiles". If you smile at a cashier and wish them a good day they will be happy. Smiles have value.

If there is a specific culture rule we don't expect guests to follow that rule (if you make a mistake we know you didn't mean it), we will only be offended if the guest is from the same culture (because we will think you did it on purpose to insult).

Are more polite to finish your dinner
Because they think the food is good
Im indonesian too, but i think the point is leaving a litlle bit to make the owner thinks that ur not still hungry

Overly smiling in Russia can also tell people that you might a little too intoxicated🍷(heard from am acquaintance who was there not too long ago) so... try to not smile too much while driving places. Yes, getting pulled over for smiling while driving can happen😅
All of these are still more straightforward than tipping
bruh in russia, people won't say привет to strangers too, they would say здравствуйте or здрасте for short.

@@uncletrump5557 I know, Muslim is the highest population in Indonesia which give them the power to control the country. Heck if you're trying to be a president you MUST be MUSLIM there's no other way, locals here were actually really racist and trying to hide it in a really poor way.
I know I'll get many backlash from this comment which is fine and i was trying just express the reality of my home country
I went around Moscow giving out free hugs with a bunch of friends when I was on students exchange there, and you could obsessively grin at people and nobody would give a damn, at most they’d think you’re weird. Russia may do effed up things now but it’s not a totalitarian country where you have to watch your every move.
True but now come to my small russian town and try the same😂
Yeah, I mean, people aren’t dumb, they would easily figure out that you most likely a foreigner.

As an Irish person, I’ve only ever sat in the back of taxis. I’m from Dublin and haven’t been in other counties too often so I can’t confidently say what it’s like in other parts, but I’ve genuinely never heard of that 😭 Could possibly be a thing in the more country areas, but I’m not sure
i’m from the countryside and yeah it mostly is my relations from dublin never did it
Same goes for Cork and Wterford mate.
I'm from wexford and I've also never heard of this but sitting in the front isn't uncommon either
I’ve stayed in most cities and some towns and I have to say, its false
As an Indonesian, it is perfectly fine to eat the entire plate. But it is impossible because the food in Indonesia is very big.
Dude, I don’t know how you came up with “do no smile to strangers in Russia”. It is absolutely normal and it’s polite way to greet someone.
Im from Russia, you can smile to strangers, but not giant smile, and dont say hello to the people you dont know (i dont speak english very well so i think there are some mistakes in this text)
As an Irish person, I never knew it was disrespectful to sit in the back
I just asked my Irish friend and she said it depends on the driver and if they look like a creep or not😂
That's because it's not true
I’d always go to sit in the back myself unless I’m with a group too big to fit in the back
me neither 😂
Same lol
Licking the plate!? Pretty sure that would be rude anywhere
As someone from Ireland, I've never sat in the front seat of a taxi.
Exactly idk what he’s on about some Ubers dont even allow people to sit in front of
Oh thank God. I came to the comments to confirm I wasn't rude 8 years ago
You should sit at front seat of Taxi
Robbers and attackers : sounds Funnn 💀💀
NOT TRUE,IN IRELAND THEY JUST PREFER YOU BE IN THE FRONT FOR COMPANY!
Bro inhaled that food 💀😭
i think you should not lick your plate anywhere
honestly it's too much work for what you get out of it anyway.
Unless you're at home. Never in public (unless you're under 10) and not at an other's house.
