      Glad it was helpful! 35 is good, its not crazy dark looking in some light, but if you want to stay "legal" it's a good way to go haha, I'd do the windshield like we did too, would make it look a little darker.

    Im thinking 35% in the front driver and passenger, 25% in the back seats and rear. Anyone having 25% in the back will give you any issues in LA area?

      That shouldn't be too bad! I think once you go lower then 20%, that's when it gets too dark. We don't have issues here with cops. Not sure how strict LA is

      @@BrosFOURRSpeed Just picked up an 06 Lexus SC430 convertible. Took it in today for a tint est. 35% is legal in my state, but we have LOTS of cars here with darker and rarely, if ever, do the cops stop you. The guy showed me 35%, 25% & 5%. I decided on 25%. My main goal is heat deflection, but I like the privacy as well & think the darker color would look good on that car. Yet I want to be able to see out at night. You think I'm going too dark at 25? I can always change my mind...but liked the look of that next to the 35% better.

    I remember getting my first tint job done way back in 1994 and the laws in NC were that 35 percent was the darkest allowed and a sticker had to be put in the corner confirming it. Haven't had a tint job in years but it seems like it's a little different now in terms of the laws. I must say that to this day I still think the 35 percent is my favorite!

      I think the Jawas are a bit more lenient now a days. As long as it doesn't looked 'blacked out' you should be good. But the heat technology is amazing! Even the 70% on the windshield block nearly all the heat just like the darker sides do.

If I had to go lighter I would rather not have it, it would be a waste of $. Knock on wood, we've never had any issues with getting pulled over for the tint. 35% is a good legal limit if you want to play it safe, and the 70% we have one the windshield is a first for us, you can't even tell it's there and helps block to sun for sure! The 25% on the tacoma is as dark as I would ever go though!

    Another thing to consider is pairing windshield with sides. You can have your sides 3x to maybe 4x darker than your windshield, but when you start pairing 15 sides with a bare shield or 5 sides with a bare shield (bare shields measure 75-85), it's as if ALL the light gets funneled through the windshield directly into your eyes. The best look IMO is sides 2x darker than shield. So 70/35, 60/30 (if you can find 60), and 50/25 would be about ideal.
    Having dealt with 15 twice and a 30 windshield once, esp in the rainy countryside at night, I wouldn't go darker than 40/20 ever again. Once I get my money up, my current car is gonna get 70/35 for optimal night driving safety. You can always add darkness with sunglasses, but you can never un-tint your car at a moment's notice without permanent consequences.

      That's a good point to bring up, I'm not sure on if they would do that or not. If you don't get that fixed, it will get larger in the long run, so you'd probably have to replace it at some point. After that you could tint it. But for visibility, and the fact that we did 70%, you can't even tell it's there. 70% gives it a stock look and gives you the added protection! I don't have any issues with it at night time! Only thing is the 25% on the sides, that's as dark as I would go for night driving.

    30% is meh in person. You can see the inside much more than shown in this video, this video does show the difference between the variants but not in person accuracy.
    70% is nearly unnoticeable in darkness on a car with decent headlights.
    For me 20% is what I would go for, along with 70% windshield tint. Keeps enough privacy during the day and enough sight at night. Of course, a lot of people struggle with sight at night, this is only my preference as my eyes change colors depending on night/day to best suite both. I drove around with 5% rear, 10% front and unknown windshield before and it was horrible at night but nice during the day (didn't install it, purchased a cheap car that had it installed already)

      Legally speaking, pretty much all tint is illegal on the front of the car. Police need to be able to see into the vehicle so if they're having one of those days they can give you a hard time. 35% is enough of a sweet spot that you still get some of that privacy without completely eliminating view into the car. Just keep those windows cracked when they come around and you should be alright. Ive seen darker than 35 on the street near cops and they didn't bat an eye so just try not to bring any extra attention to yourself.

    Is 30% on driver window dark enough so no one can see you at red lights etc ?

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It will at least make you look like a silhouette, depending on the lighting though it can change. But it's way better than nothing!

    I got 20% regular on my 09 corolla no windshield. I have a lil trouble backing up at night because I have manual windows and led reverse light is almost useless.
    I just got a 23 tacoma and i was planning on going 35% ceramic with 70% windshield.
    My my question is.
    Is 35% useless and a waste of money? Because I like my privacy but wanna pass inspection.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn't say it's useless. With the right film, all the percentages do the same thing (block heat), the difference is the color of the film. So 70% blocks just as much as 20%, it's just not as dark. In certain situations, you can see through 35%, it's still darker than no tint, but I'd say if you can go with 30% or closer to it and are able to pass, you might like that better. I had no problems with 35% on vehicles, but if you have to pass with 35%, you might not have a choice.

    • @kidlo2050

      @BrosFOURRSpeed In Louisiana the legal limit is 40% but I went ceramic with 35% on the front and 50% on the back because the 3 back glasses come factory deep tinted. Did go with the windshield film but my tint blends all around at a certain angle. I'm satisfied with it.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'd probably stick with 50-70%, if it's too dark like the 5% it'll feel like you are wearing sunglasses at night time. 5% to me isn't worth it if you drive at night a lot, but just my opinion on that. the 50-70 should be fine.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check your local regulations on the percentage you can go with. If you'd like to stay legal, for us it's 35% or lighter, that's a great way to go. We haven't had any issues with 25% and a lot of people go dark, but if you want to stay legal, it'll still give it a great look!

    Should I get 70% front windshield done? Or should I just get the strip?

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well the strip won't really help against the heat reduction, doing the whole windshield is way more effective for that! We have around 70% on all our windshields and it makes a huge difference. I've never seen the purpose of doing the strip other than for that kind of look, or to just help act as a "sun visor" in a sense. I would recommend the whole windshield!

    If I got 35% on a black Jetta with all black interior would it be good? Or should I go with 30? PS: our legal limit is 32%. I really love the 30 but also don’t wanna get a ticket.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Knock on wood we've never had any issues for going slightly under the legal limit, however if you have a yearly inspection, you'd have to get around that. But on a black car with black interior, 35% should look good. It's pretty dark on the supra with it being white. But 30 VS 32 you wouldn't be able to tell unless an officer really wanted to test it.

      @BrosFOURRSpeed  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a good percentage all around! Just depends on the installer you go to! Get some quotes to see what you are comfortable with! In general, for the right window film, you're looking around $800-$1200, somewhere around there.

      Yeah the 70% is only a few % point darker then the glass itself. So we shouldn't have any issues with them. The Xpel film truly blocks the heat and is a world of difference!

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That depends on if the police see you and want to pull you over if they notice. But most of the time, it's not an issue. I have 20% on my car and legal is 35% and I've been good so far. But also depends on if you have state inspections, they won't pass it unless you know someone who will.
