Loved the video. My whole fishing journey began at Pinecrest during annual family camping trips during the 80’s. Used to do well where the creek comes in like you were doing
Great outing! Pinecrest is a gem, my favorite in the Calaveras pass. Just north in the El Dorado pass, is Loon Lake and the entry point to the Rubicon Trail, which starts at the northern lake campground. Beautiful clear lake with larger trout on average, and you can spot the schools from the higher rocks, where they're eager to chase Kastmasters and Roostertails..
When they drain the lake for winter there is still a significant amount of water left. Dfw also stocks the lake with trout a couple times a month April through August.
The quality would be better, and the South Fork Stanislaus River is open last Saturday in April through November 15th with barbless hooks and artificial lures only.

Thank you! Pinecrest is an easy lake to love

Thank you! Loon Lake sounds like fun, Thanks for the recommendation!
Beautiful area & those were nice trout. 🎣👍😉
One of my favorite places to fish
Great video! Nice Trout limit! Power bait and small treble (14 or 16) works 🔥💣🔥👍
That spot was worth the walk. Nice catches.
Thank you. I highly recommend it
keep an eye for snakes we ran into a rattler on that same trail just past the first set of rocks you have to climb
Thanks for the heads up
Where do the fish come from? They drain that lake every winter to nothing. So is it stocked with the fish?

Go up the river for prettier fish. Caught a nice hybrid in those few pockets of still water.
