Hey everyone! If you like this video...check out my most recent trip up in Jasper National Park in the Canadian Rockies. It's one of the most magnificent places on earth and we have it all to ourselves! Here is the link. Enjoy! th-cam.com/video/hpU8F2BVlcU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=48ZfiJWUv8vzH_dy
Hope you had plenty of those orange, shake 'em up to wake 'em up hot packs. Come in different sizes. Would definitely toss a couple in the foot of my sleeping bag! You were right about the beauty! Thank you Cat!👍👍P.S. Your friends were delightful and loved the last comment of your friend looking forward to a burger with bacon. 😉😉😉
I stumbled on this video and was completely floored by the beauty of the sierra. I’m now obsessed with hiking this trail! I’m going to do it. I’m going to make it happen. You did such an amazing job capturing the beauty of this trail. I can tell you spent a lot of time and effort filming and editing this video. You have truly inspired me, and I thank you.
So beautiful Cat! Every time I see one of your hiking videos I’m so grateful you’re posting this scenery for everyone to enjoy. I’m also very grateful these wild areas were preserved for posterity by our forward thinking ancestors. No doubt you guys would be hiking past hotels and condos if that hadn’t happened. ❤👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I loved all the lakes each one has its own beauty. Of course the mountain views are as you say stunning. Thank you you and your fellow hikers for taking us with you..
Gorgeous indeed! The only thing I would like is a fire but thankfully it didn’t rain. The scenery is just spectacular! Nothing like the fresh clean air in the mountains!!
This half hour was so much fun. The landscapes are stunning, the camaraderie is uplifting. I am so jealous, Catherine. Sad that I can only experience these locations vicariously and joyful that I can experience them through your lens. Thank you again for sharing a bit of your life with me. What you do really matters.
Your good friend, Terry, is sad she missed it (Kim 😢). What a beautiful walk in the woods with beautiful people. But, glad I could at least get out to Yosemite then celebrate with you all, enjoying a burger, too. 😉
🥾❤️⛰❤️🥾 OMG what a stunning recap of our adventure ….. I just LOVE Sierras….. Cant wait to be back ….. the blooper at the very end 🤪🤣🙌….LOL😂😂😂😂 and of course my blonde moment re: beef less stroganoff 🤣🤣🤣 can I blame altitude and lack of oxygen???? 😂😂😂😂😂
Once again, we're doing the same trips (almost) lol. I'm so jealous though, I was there last year for the third time. Best place in the sierras in my opinion. Mornings at Thousand Island are the best. And you picked the best camp spot also. I've camped there. Such a cool spot with all the rocks around you and great beaches. I did the Minarets loop past Iceberg lake this last time, just fantastic.
Catherine, so glad to see you got back out to what I consider the most beautiful shorter not so difficult loop in the Sierra. Definitely the most bang for your buck! Great job!
Easter Sierras are beautiful! The morning light backlighting on the surrounding hills/mountains is only surpassed by the super-reflective water of the lakes. Thanks Cat for your magnificent photographic summary of the trip, you are awesome! This is a wonderful welcome to the Fall season.😊
I think I said WOW! about 30 times this episode! 😯🌲🌲 Mind blowing beauty around every turn on the trail. Thank you Catherine! High Five! 🙌❤ Have a safe week! 🙏
Wow Catherine! Dare I say, one of your best video's ever! I've lived in the Eastern Sierra area for 30 plus years, and I am embarrassed to say I've never hiked to any of these places. Backpacking just wasn't something I did. I must change that! Stunning video!
As I sit on my heating pad, nursing a torn upper hamstring, I’m so thankful to you for bringing such astounding beauty right into my home. I know it’s not easy leaving the cosy warmth of your sleeping bag before dawn in order to capture the glow of first light on those amazing peaks. But I also know the anticipation and excitement that motivates you to do so. Your amazing and well thought out cinematography never disappoints. Also, I really enjoyed your inclusion of the comaradarie with your friends at camp. Blessings to you Catherine!
Majestic!!! God is THE greatest artist for sure. Cat, this was fun!! The scenery of course took the center stage position but the group joking around & obvious love of the nature you all walked through made all fun & exciting. I bought my first round of AG1, so as of today started that & with hughe determination will work on taking 60 pounds off my 59 year old body. My husband & I are outdoor peeps & I grew up at the lakes of the Midwest. Love hiking, yaking (kayaking) & triking (our Harley 3 wheeler motorcycle in the mountains). God is good & we are ready to get healthier & pull on the hiking boots again. Thanks for the inspiration Cat!
Thanks for sharing all the beauty. As much as I would like to get out there $6-$7 for gas is a little rich for my blood. Did you say snow flurries? Im quite content to watch through your cameras eye. Everyone wearing smiles, nice!
Love the video!! I hiked some of the same trails back in the 80's when I was a teen but we stayed at Lake Laura and Lake Altha. I chuckled when you mentioned the food backpackers imagine eating as they near the trail's end. I guessed cheeseburger as that was always my first choice after a hike and apparently it is a thing...
This is the first time I have seen this one. I grew up loving the Siereas! as a Boy Scout. I am 73 now and taking care of my wife and her health problems but I STILL want to back pack ...just don't know of that will ever happen. It's so good that I can live my dreams through you and your travels.. Thanks so much!
What a great trip with good friends! Had to laugh as I was betting "cheese burgers" were on everyone's minds lol! The forest looks healthy - hopefully the pine beetle threat is fading. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely beautiful trip and excellent videography. I summited Mt. Ritter in 2014 and after watching this video I want to do it again. For the TH-camrs who negatively commented about videos like this giving up ‘secret’ locations, nobody owns the wilderness. God created these majestic mountains for His glory and our enjoyment.
God didn't create crap! Religion does nothing but drag humanity down into the mud. It causes more hate and violence and murder than any other belief system on the planet. Grow up!
Wow, all I'm missing is the chill in the air and the scent of the conifer trees. The views are just jaw-dropping not to mention the landscape reflections in all of the lakes. My all time record for outdoor camping is nine degrees and that was about 3 hrs north of there, in Tahoe. And I believe Martina is from Iowa and Steve and wife are from the Carolina's, if I remember right. Enjoyed it, take care and travel safe !!
Another gorgeous hike Cat. You have taken me to so many beautiful places and I truly appreciate you. Thanks for the great video’s. Keep posting. Your friend in Pennsylvania. Bob
This is one of those times when words are not enough! I very much enjoy your backpacking adventures because you always take us to the majesty of our beautiful country.
Catherine I am sure you have been told this before but I found your TH-cam channel during the start of the Pandemic and despite being a lifelong Californian of 55 years, I had never REALLY been to the Eastern Sierra except a couple times to Mammoth to ski back in the early 90's. Your amazing videos made me want to explore the "back part" of California and by Aug. Of 2020 I had brought my family to explore up and down the Eastern Sierra. As a Fellow Orange Countian, thank you for having such a wonderful channel of exploration and thank you for being such a wonderful ambassador for the less visited Eastern part of our state which is truly the most gorgeous section of a stunningly beautiful state. I always look forward to each video adventure and wish you the best in your future explorations.
Cat, This is a most lovely outdoor wilderness backpacking expedition! Well correographed and filmed. Thank you for sharing your journey with us! Blessings and safe travels!
One of your best videos in a while. Gorgeous scenery! Too bad you could not make a fire. I guess Jack Frost was nipping at your nose! Brrr🥶. The cheeseburger ending reminded me of the old SNL skit "Cheeseburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger, Coke Coke Coke, no Pepsi, Pepsi Pepsi". Autumn is here. Look forward to your upcoming leaf-changing videos.
Another 5 star video! 🌟 So very special to take us along on your trips. Beauty seen is remarkable. Beauty seen and shared is beyond description. My heart sings every time you post one. Thank you so very much for sharing 😊.
Thanks so much for posting this beautiful video. I fell in love with the Sierra about 40 years ago at the age of 30. Took my son there a number of times. Taught him to fish there. Age and disease have taken their toll and I doubt if I could hike at all at that altitude. But what great memories your video kindled. It's my favorite place and you captured it beautifully.
Very stunning!! What I really like though that puts this altogether is the music you pick. The music is so tranquil and allows us to absorb these magnificent views you are seeing. Good job Cat! 🙂
Another brilliant movie. Unbelievable, what a beautiful area. Thank you for sharing this with us. Many are no longer able to do these hikes. Because of your beautiful images we can enjoy a bit of what a beautiful nature there is. 😊😊
Wow! That was super stunning! And it looked like you were all having such fun too, especially at the end with your cheeseburger chant. Hiker hunger is real! As always, thanks for sharing!
I've watched this vidio at least 3 times . It makes me feel so relaxed!!!!!I've been watching joey s videos I'm just not as relaxed with his . Don't get me wrong his are great also just scarier at times & no relaxing music! Everybody's different . Thank God !!!! Again take care & God Bless !!!
I am a fellow photographer as well and because of a injury I am temporary sideline from going somewhere far. So when I see your videos they so do inspire me. To give get out there even where I am take photos. Your pictures are beautiful 😍🖐️🎇. Keep up the good work!
I hiked the same area with 4 friends one month earlier, from August 20th to 25th 2022. Much warmer, I'm sure. Seeing your video, Cat, was a great recap of the trails for me, both the beauty and the sore hip flexors at the end of each day. We didn't through hike. We made a base camp at Garnet Lake and took long day hikes out and around 1000 Island Lake and scrambled cross country into the pristine high country above those lakes. All amazing. Recommend!
Absolutely amazing. Feels like it was ages ago even though it was quite recent. Thank you for capturing an amazing trip and bringing us back to the Sierra this morning 😊. Absolutely loved the blooper at the end!
One of the best and most stunningly beautiful High Sierra loops, then add to that some great backpacking friends to share in the adventure.... Doesn't get much better!!!
Having grown up in WY and living in CO I think sometimes "why backpack elsewhere," but this summer we finally saw the Sierra Nevada. Wow! We did Rae lakes loop in Kings Canyon and explored the Yosemite wilderness. I'm definitely putting this trip that you filmed on my long list
I have hiked Donnel Vista, Clarks Fork, Pinecrest, Jamestown, I have panned for gold in the Kern canyon, San Gabriel mountains east fork, I've beach bummed the 1 through Big Sur to the Redwoods just north of San Fran, and your videos show me I have yet to touch the surface of even grander creation, thank you Cat!
Such a beautiful area of the Sierra. It's probably 20 years since I've been to 1000 Island Lake, but I remember the stunning beauty. Thanks for the reminders Cat.
Cat, spellbound. Amazing video. I have added this trip to my bucket list and I definitely plan on taking my backpacking family on this trail within the next two years. It shall be done! Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to the outdoors and the backpacking community. YOU are also one of our national treasures!!
Oh my Jehovah God, it's simply majestics!!! Now when it finished I knew the sadness you felt. It's since the beginning seems a great movie with the perfect music playing and the breathtaking scenarios. Catherine as always makes our Sunday more happy for bringing us the paradise made by Jehovah God 😍🤩👏👏👏👏
I did the JMT in this summer and 1000 island lake was just 😍 I also got there at midday and had my pick of the spots, got to spend so many hours there and take in it’s magnificence, it’s the centre of the world as far I’m concerned. Thanks and glad you had a great time Cat x
Thank you for this trip , I grew up backpacking all thru the Sierras ,made two trips to Ediza in the late 70s early 80s my Dad and I summited Mt Ritter on the second trip ,I have been all over the central Sierras Emigrant basin , Trinity alps and Eastern Sierras , I lost my Dad two years ago he was my main backpacking buddy , thanks for the great memories

Words cannot describe the beauty of the High Sierras.
"Sierra". Spanish for "mountain range". And it's one range. Unlike the Rockies.
Yes most people mistakenly say Sierras when it’s Sierra
Majestic! Sometimes all you need is the thought of a good burger to motivate! 🤣 Oh yeah...bacon, bacon, bacon! Lol
😂❤😂
Hope you had plenty of those orange, shake 'em up to wake 'em up hot packs. Come in different sizes. Would definitely toss a couple in the foot of my sleeping bag! You were right about the beauty! Thank you Cat!👍👍P.S. Your friends were delightful and loved the last comment of your friend looking forward to a burger with bacon. 😉😉😉
one word....'Incredible", California is such a beautiful state, great video, thanks...
Yes very beautiful country too and watching enjoying too 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎❤ beautiful music too AWESOME VIDEO Catherine ❤

If it's cold, then, I will stay
home. Home sweet home !
The Eastern Sierra (Mammoth and the Mono Lake area) always calls me home. It is a special place.

Hi Catherine! Your opening shot made this Sunday all the more worth the while.
Your good friend, Terry, is sad she missed it (Kim 😢). What a beautiful walk in the woods with beautiful people. But, glad I could at least get out to Yosemite then celebrate with you all, enjoying a burger, too. 😉
You were definitely missed!
Loved Ediza and Thousand Island Lakes and the mountain range so beautiful 😍
WOW. The Sierra lakes were all otherworldly 😮 Mirror smooth with totally breathtaking surroundings. Sign me up 😅 🙋🏼♀️👍🏻
Breathtakingly beautiful
What's stunning about the Eastern Sierras is that can literally have one foot on the Sierras and one foot in the Great Basin. Beautiful Area.
Thanks for the break. Dealing with basement flooding, probability of cancer in my daughter...but your video took me away. Thank you!
Thanks for your great presentation ..beautiful scenery..great photography
Stunning views. Great videography. Thank you for another beautiful video. Take care.
Take it from a couple of “old timers”. Take nothing for granted! God bless.
Thanks for letting us share your loop hike. Lovely. You have three great friends there.
I definitely do! Thank you GK!

It's has beautiful as the California dream
Love the video!! I hiked some of the same trails back in the 80's when I was a teen but we stayed at Lake Laura and Lake Altha. I chuckled when you mentioned the food backpackers imagine eating as they near the trail's end. I guessed cheeseburger as that was always my first choice after a hike and apparently it is a thing...
I vote for Mineral King as the most beautiful part of California. But the Eastern Sierra is a close second! 🙂
Very pretty, have not been there yet, wow…
banner peak, wonderful

Spectacular. Some of my favorite pictures from the JMT are from Garnet Lake.
WOW OH MY GOSH What stunning views. Thank you for taking me along. I would no have seen that beautiful area with my bad knees. Thank you so much 💓

I never filter running spring water. Beautiful video. Thanks for all the information 💫🙏❤️🌹🌸💕

What incredibly stunning views at those lakes! Amazing. ❤️
All I can say is WOW !! I’m lost for words on how beautiful and well put together your videos are. Thanks! Also I like how you show the map.

I love going along with you on your adventures! BEAUTIFUL!
Love the Sierra’s! Beautiful videography…as always!

I was amazed on how much water was on that trail! Thanks for sharing..........
We had such a blast! Counting down the days until we do it again! ❤️
Such a wonderful video to watch. Couldn't agree more...indeed on of the most beautiful places in CA. 👍

Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to the outdoors and the backpacking community. YOU are also one of our national treasures!!
Beautiful country Cat! I have no idea why I have never thought of doing that loop before, but you have got me interested for sure!

"Sierra". Not Sierras. It's a hard transition to make, but you'll get used to it. I did Banner and Ritter with a friend back in the day.
Absolutely beautiful!
Hi Cat, such a great landscape!!! Regards from Berlin, Ralf
Gorgeous places 😍, I am sure that I will make it there in time. Thank you Catherine 😊
Wow just beautiful! Thank you for taking us along.
Isn't Mother Nature wonderful with such beauty and majesty that will last for eons long after were gone..thank you Catherine well done 😊🤠
