Coolest rendition of this ancient sport. I would like to see a continuous league! Televised like any other competition - but keep the uniforms authentic! In aesthetic stadiums like this too. People could become dedicated to this, Mark my words.

@PSYCHONAVT I like it and have seen a few different ways. I like the one from 2012 in Mexico when they had the smaller level like in the ancient times.
Easier to score, still very difficult. I honestly think it is too slow to become popular. Maybe modify it to make it faster. Could be interesting.

Depending on the time period and region, most ritualistic sacrifices specially for Mayas consisted on bloodletting in the tongue and back and belly, drownings and hearts taken out of victims, beheadings were very rare. Besides the beheading of Hun Hunahpu by the lord of Xibalba (Underworld) in the Mayan epic Popol Vuh I dont recall examples of ritual beheadings for Mayans.

The fact that you will die if you lost is terrifying however you're also likely to die while playing if u got hit in the chest or head with that ball since it's 20 pounds (i believe) although they lightened the weight so that doesn't happen

They just recently discovered over 200 ancient “ball courts” in Arizona again. It makes me think they were really some sort of energy creator or storage structures.

That’s what happens when a game hasn’t been played professionally for 500 years. Comparing an amateur game of baseball to a professional one, would be a good analogue of what we are watching in this video. Personally, I am happy to see the Mesoamerican Ballgame being played in the Modern World. Maybe one day, if it becomes popular, we will witness top level professionals playing the Ballgame.
