100%. I have a friend that knows him quite well and said he's genuinely so kind and humble. It totally makes sense that the music is so wholesome and angelic haha.

FF cover of The Reason is relatively easy to imagine, but I'd genuinely love to hear what it'd sound like if they took a shot at Crawling in the Dark. It'd probably be so god damn haunting
it's funny because during their show last night in Toronto someone in the crowd yelled out 'Hoobastank!' after Robin jokingly commented, while tuning his guitar, that he was just killing time waiting for the crowd to shout stuff out to him. Then he proceeded to spontaneously play a nearly complete cover of 'The Reason'. Wonder if that dude in the crowd was referencing this video.

I do think from an objective standpoint it was probably good but I have to have to admit that I don't enjoy the ballad-style Gorillaz tracks as much, Cloud of Unknowing for example. I was kind of hoping Elton John would have a more prominent piano part as well.
Ngl, that thumbnail is exactly how I’d assume the frontman of Fleet Foxes would look/dress like.
The depth of the answers Robin gives makes me want to go and listen to the album. I think I might. I haven't heard a single Fleet Foxes song ever.

Robin is possibly the most polite of all Anthony's interviews. Almost everyone else interrupts him or talks for the majority of the hour long video.
isn't that the point? it's an interview about the interviewee, not about Anthony: they're supposed to talk for most of it

God I love Robin so much. I saw them for the crack up concert in 2017! It was ethereal!! But Shore makes me feel so hopeful it was the perfect album to set up fall!

Crack-Up, with Helplessness Blues right behind it. I was so shocked when I liked Crack-Up even more than Helplessness Blues, because the latter was my favorite album for awhile.
I do like crack up but it can be really unsettling. Shore is so calming

His memory has to be insanely on point the way he recalls names and tracks etc. You see him do that not only in this interview but shoots off in countless other interviews as well.
It’s wild that he wrote all the songs separate from the instrumentation given how much the instrumentation is so subtle to work with the vocals. I’d love to see his process

Robin looks to the side when talking just like I do. I've always been so self-conscious about it.

On the discussion about critic/fan reactions to positive music:
Since music is a resultant of a philosophy, either explicitly or by implication, philosophy is the driving mode of everyone’s life whether or not they engage in it consciously or subconsciously. If you have a negative view of the universe and how human beings achieve their values, that’s what you want art to reflect. I think in today’s society, That is absolutely the case. Since morality has been designated to only count if you lose, suffer, or bleed, people react negatively to success, achievement, and the pursuit of one’s values.

I think robin is just super thoughtful and a bit shy. If you read anything he’s actually typed/written out, it’s always super eloquent and wordy

@@radiatormike Critic is different from an interviewer. Of course Fanthony Antano is a good critic but he also asks good questions and is good at drawing the guest out in terms of interviewing.

Fleet foxes and Helplessnes blues are two of the best masterpieces albums of this century. Shore is a beautiful record, almost 10 years later, still with the creative spark.
