"Completionist" - love it! I've got the Cocobolo and the Marrow Bone coming, and may even move one of them on. I don't see the Tidioute as the 'entry level' GEC - in fact of those patterns where I've scored a Tidioute and a Northfield, the Tidioute has invariably had the better action and F&F (fine margins, obviously). Could just be luck of the draw of course, but there's probably a reason the Tidioutes command generally higher prices on the collectors' (as opposed to the flippers) market. With you all the way on the secondary blades - particularly when GEC do them so nicely with the proportionately thinner spring and bladestock. As for shields though, I take your point. I think a shield can be one of three things (which can overlap) - Adornment; Branding; Escutcheon - with the latter possibly the original purpose, in order to bear the owner's initials/mark.
I really like that cocobolo one. But i really wanted the barrel one. Well, im happy just to have the richlite one. If you're getting rid of a GEC 66 stockman, let me know. I love secondary blades. The secondary is really the only place i can get GECs. So i just bite the bullet.
@@TheMartialist They'll never do that. Personally I think they've really leaned into the collector market and have zero interest in getting their marketing/distribution under control. Literally over half the distributors on their list never put the knives up on any kind of online market at all, with some others on eBay now.
Those are beautiful, I love the swedged blade on the bullet.
I agree!!

I wish they'd set up a sister shop to make more knives. I don't think they can raise the rate of production at their current spot.
