Holy cow, that was so good! Jimmy Smith seemed totally on fire with his riffs...like extra-inspired by playing with another B3 master. His 1962 version of . 'Walk on the Wild Side'. is why I decided to play organ (with Leslie's) at 13yo. In Seattle for the summer of the world's fair '62, it was the first jazz album I' d ever heard. Played it 10 times a day. Then, 35 years later, had the good luck to see him live at the Iridium in NY mid-90s. Fantastic! So, it is with life-long appreciation that this video moves me so much. Thank you JohnT. for a pure B3 delight!! Best I've seen.

We recorded two albums together : 1 'Yellow Purple' with James Levi (drums ), and Fabienne SHEM Bénébig ( vocal ) ( in San Francisco 2013 ) 2: 'Nouméa to New York' ( New York 2015 ) with Houston Person ( saxophone ) and Lewis Nash ( drums ) ( in New York 2015 )
l was first turned on to Billy Peston’s - The Most Exciting Organ Ever in ‘67 album which l could understand. Smith’s jazz l did not understand for many years but intrigued me. But also look at Booker T and then Brian Auger and English Mike Carr. Later Chester Thompson....... all of them - shivers down my back bone! l got to see Jimmy McGriff at Ronnie Scott’s in 2002? - Pure beauty.

I wonder about the Hammond backline in Switzerland. I saw Joey twice while living there nearly 2 decades, and maybe he was on one of the these.
