***** I have a few very loyal followers but on the other hand it seems the combination of relaxation and learning is not really what most people are looking for ;). I get it and it's ok, the point is that I like making these videos so I do not intend to change anything to the formula.
I am back after a little break with this history video about the Ottomans. From the migration of Turkic tribes to Anatolia and the collapse of Byzantium to the foundation of the modern State of Turkey in the XXth century, you are invited to travel through the centuries, relax, and maybe learn a couple of things. I hope you enjoy!
The depth and tamber of your voice is simple astonishing. Thank you for doing what you do because you bring me peace of mind in a world full of turmoil
Hi French wisperer. Your ASMR style is unique. I've just discovered you and already enjoy your work. Your knowledge on history is exemplary. Keep up the great work.
I want to say thank you so much for what you do. You relax me so much and give me relief from my anxiety everyday. And if it weren't for you and your channel, I think I wouldn't be able to sleep or think straight. Thank you very much, from the bottom of my heart. Your channel helps so much. :)
This video is really interesting to watch because it involves many things I've learned so far in European History class. Such as the Byzantine Empire after the fall of Rome. We recently just finished learning about King Louis XIV and the Palace of Versailles. I was thinking, "Hey, I've watched videos on this before." ;) It's nice to see you back btw. :)
Byzantine history is actually just a part of Roman history. So thats why its so "undervalued". The masses like the early times of the Roman history more than they do the late period.
yeah byzantine was one of the best empires in history they had great buildings, gardens, sculptures. After crusades in 12th century latins looted constantinople and burnt it. after that we took it :D i think we destroyed most of the sculptures (sadly) i dont know if we destroyed them or someone else but there was amazing sculptures in constantinople it is odd we destroyed because it is believed to be haram. we didn't harm the buildings but we didn't care about them we leaved them and that amazing city started to rot. I hope you guys visit istanbul one day before it fade away. all i want to say is they were great they treated constantinople like she deserves. wish we did care about byzantian empires remainings. i would like to see huge hipodroms while i am driving to work.
If you haven't already, can you please do a video on the history of sugar? Even more specifically it's role in bringing about economies and slavery around the 1500s. For example, Capitalism and Slavery by Dr. Eric Williams. Thank you!
Welcome back!!! :) Je suis heureuse de te voir de retour j'étais inquiète de ta disparition! J'espère que tout va bien de ton côté et merci pour cette belle vidéo! ;)
+EliteRowmaster thanks for the feedback. The volume problem is complicated, I get the same amount of feedback asking for higher and lower... I think it is higher in more recent videos, hope it is ok for you.
I wouldn't consider the Armenian Genocide the first genocide in History, especially after what Leopold II of Belgium did to the Congolese people for years.
The history of the world is the history of violence. Genocide has occurred on every continent since we figured out how to wield weapons. Ask many tribes in Gaul or the people of Jericho
Thank you for posting another video! On an unrelated note, I enjoy what some consider harsher spirits, straight. Could you recommend a good starter cognac? I've never tried brandy of any type but I've always enjoyed the look of it's warm tone. Thanks again for the videos.
Rodney Brown Thanks. Regarding cognac, the brand is less important than the quality (VSOP, XO...) that all cognac makers indicate on their bottles and that depends on aging. The oldest, the most expensive, and theoretically the best. As a starter, I would recommend the VSOP quality, which is fine for degustation and corresponds to an intermediate quality. You have to be an expert to distinguish them, which I am not: I would be unable to tell the difference between an XO and a VSOP, and the former is 4 times more expensive! A more original and less-known brandy to discover is Armagnac, which comes from a different region and may be less standardized than the cognac produced by the 3 or 4 houses that control most of the cognac production.
Bonne journée Monsieur française Whisperer...thank you for the time and care you put into creating your videos. I appreciate that you select topics per the audience requests as well as posting topics for the audience to vote on. Have you considered historical videos on the Bible, Quran or origins of popular celebrated holidays? Thank you again for sharing...Peace, Paix, Paz.

barry buxbaum I would like to, but I have more or less exhausted my collections... I would do one about antique furniture though, it is on my to-do list for next year.
Great to have you back! Your videos are my favorite! Do you have a degree in the field of history or are you simply just very well read? No matter the case, keep them coming! :)
the kid was being taken from their familt to become janissaries and their family would love it. because they were taken to the best school of country(maybe world) they were being fed nice. they werw warm and safe. they had their doctors when they were sick. also it wasn't determined if they were going to become soldiers. if they were clever they could become really important persons in state such as grand vizier or
+Fingolfinx1 and yes we did take tax from non muslims but it is because we couldn't force them to fight for another religion. so instead of being a soldier they were giving tax. it isn't a bad thing... giving tax is nothing compared to being a soldier for 3-8 years. this is why jewish people are rich (no offense) and unlikely their low population they have importance in world
I love your videos, thank you! You should consider re-recording or maybe remastering some of these old classic episodes. I honestly have a really hard time listening because of the popping, it’s very distracting. Your new audio setup is so much better. Would love to be able to enjoy these videos with a pop filter. 😊
Ragerian I would have to listen again, maybe that was clumsy - I meant that the concept and the term of genocide were elaborated at the beginning of the 20th century, for a large part due to what happened with the Armenians. I am not questioning the reality of massacres leading to the eradication of an entire population before that, if that is your question.
I think you're criminally underviewed. I can't think of anyone else filling your niche right now, combining learning and relaxation.

Hello there, im a turk and im appreciate that you told the history of us with all of your neutrality and objectivity, thank you sir.
I can't believe this... ASMR + history (especially the Ottoman empire, my favorite to learn) I have found my niche :)

I was getting worried!
The French Whisperer so what were the roles of the young Turks and the differences of kemalism in westernization of Ottoman Empire?
The French Whisperer you've been gone for 10 months, but can you do a video about the history of British empire
Shabba Ranks It's how we say in French

I was so glad to see this pop up. Good to see you back, and a great video as ever :)
You should totally make one about the Byzantines :)
Such an undervalued civilization.
no. compared to others I have the impression they get way too little limelight.
You're right, I know little of the Byzantines and never see anything on the subject.
Byzantine history is actually just a part of Roman history. So thats why its so "undervalued". The masses like the early times of the Roman history more than they do the late period.

It depends entirely on the period under discussion. Often it was pretty much as bad as a slave trade.
