Henk learned how to do the distortion for this song, just for Floor. When he did it again in Phantom, I suspect he didn't do it in rehearsals at all as Floor seemed happily surprised. Two weeks from now Floor is supposed to do 6 Covid-proof shows in Amsterdam, 3 nights and 2 shows per evening. I have tickets for the first show and I'm supposed to go there with my daughter. Henk is supposed to be there as well to sing his "Sound of Silence". They are supposed to sing "The Phantom" together and a second duet, "Sweet Curse" a song from Floor's previous band Revamp. You're absolutely right, at the age of 63, Henk turned out to be an amazing metal singer! I'm writing "is supposed to" multiple times as it's very, very doubtful if these shows can go ahead due to new stricter Covid-rules. Unfortunately the numbers are rapidly getting worse in The Netherlands. As there are exceptions for religious gatherings, Marcel Fisser (the band leader in all the Beste Zangers videos and accompanying Floor during her solo-tour) sees possibilities for the shows to go ahead anyway. He says: "Floor happens to be the Goddess of Metal".
Fingers & too's crossed, we have tickets for Carre and Afas..... but from the look at it now I won't be holding my breath. Even the Staphorstenaars aren't allowed to cluster at their churches anymore... but we can still shovel up in airplanes by the hundreds, although we cannot fly anywhere..

In another universe they were touring together in the Netherlands. I have seen that show in januari in Groningen. The final had to be posponed due to Covid-19. But the good news is that that show will be replaced by 6 shows in Afas-Live in Amsterdam in a Covid-save environment. Those shows will be recorded. Wait for that being uploaded and then react to Sweet Curse. Sweet Curse is a song written by Floor for her band Revamp in wich she was when she joined Nightwish. Sweet Curse is a wonderful duet from Floor and Henk. There are some vids on line made with a smartphone, but I can't wait for the official version with exellent soundquality.

Great performance. I love this show. I like how this show just celebrates each artists talent instead of it being a competition. And I love Floor’s expression of pure joy and awe. She was fangirling hard. She loves Henk from when he played the Phantom back in the 90’s.

It's not in another universe - Floor and Henk are singing metal together in Floor's solo shows. And I really really hope that Henk is a part of her new solo project. When Henk - Floor's great idol - jumped out of the closet and put all his efforts into her favorite song - making it a metal version - their close friendship were sealed. Henk had already discovered the gem Floor is, and she had to throw her fangirl mode away and she did. I am convinced they are working together - they can both see and feel that gigantic potential in front of them.

I haven’t seen another seasons of that show but last year’s was special. I watched the other singers’ days. Each week one singer watched and listened as the others sang for them. It’s such a beautiful song, it’s hard to compare the original, Disturbed’s, and Henk’s. I just am glad to have heard them all. I like how he learned distortion just for Floor. Floor is absolutely mesmerized and really enjoying it For more Floor, check out War Child (it’s not live; although she did a live in studio version I think) Also props to the musicians for having to play all the very different songs and absolutely killing it Fun fact they did a project together. I prefer Disturbed‘s version, but only because it came first and dissolved me into a sobbing mess when I first listened to it. Mr Poort "merely“ gave me happy chills and a broad grin, but technically he is superior.
I like S&G, Disturbed's, this version as well. They all hit the emotion button differently. I feel like his voice absolutely could be an excellent rock singer. To me the the live Disturbed feels like a bit vulnerable compared to Henk. Then again they are at different stages in life and I think that this is why it hits differently.

i like the disturbed version. david did a great job, and he brings this song back to live. but i love henks version. he is awesome. the tone and richness of his voice and his vibrato is just outstandingly good. david is way better at distortion, but henk is not to bad for an opera singer, that never used distortion in his live before 🤣
I was very, very happy. Have seen Floor with Henk in Heerlen in january. She blew me away with her power, versatility and delicacy. Songs of Beste Zangers, also Strong (which got me smothered almost), Some After Forever and Revamp (with HEnk's assistance) and Nemo. Unforgettable show, so be prepared. In een woord: ONVERGETELIJK
David Drayman has sung with distortion for years, Henk has sung with distortion only for the first hour(s) in his life. Technically Disturbed's version is much better. The version by Henk was awesome on a technical & physical level. Why? Try singing this song sitting down and _not_ raise your shoulders. As a next #BZ song, I'm suggesting Henk Poort & Emma Heesters singing "Vivo Per Lei".
This *is* the Disturbed version, in terms of arrangement. As fantastic as Poort is, I think David's version is better. Poort was playing around with adding distortion to his voice, which was cool, but it didn't feel like he's got it down yet. He also brought it in a few lines early in this version, which kinda cheapens the reveal of "and the people bowed and prayed, to the neon God they made" where David brings in the growl in his version. Long story short. I like this, but I think the Disturbed version is a tad better.
To go against 40+ years of training. To sing in a way. That every bone in your body says is wrong. Just to impress someone you just met days ago. Then at the end. Give Floor that look "hope that didn't suck"

I like this version more, the first time I heard I thought it was a computer version, when I found out it was someone's real voice I was stunned.
Mindblowing that this is actually the very first time Henk ever used distortion, he learnt it just for performing this for Floor.

I prefer Disturbed‘s version, but only because it came first and dissolved me into a sobbing mess when I first listened to it. Mr Poort "merely“ gave me happy chills and a broad grin, but technically he is superior.
I like S&G, Disturbed's, this version as well. They all hit the emotion button differently. I feel like his voice absolutely could be an excellent rock singer. To me the the live Disturbed feels like a bit vulnerable compared to Henk. Then again they are at different stages in life and I think that this is why it hits differently.

I agree with you , i think this version is the better of the three and its so unusual when we see Floor in fangirl mode.
She was totally fangirling. lol. And that look from him at the end reminded me of a father looking lovingly at his daughter.

i like the disturbed version. david did a great job, and he brings this song back to live.
but i love henks version. he is awesome. the tone and richness of his voice and his vibrato is just outstandingly good.
david is way better at distortion, but henk is not to bad for an opera singer, that never used distortion in his live before 🤣

I was very, very happy. Have seen Floor with Henk in Heerlen in january. She blew me away with her power, versatility and delicacy. Songs of Beste Zangers, also Strong (which got me smothered almost), Some After Forever and Revamp (with HEnk's assistance) and Nemo.
Unforgettable show, so be prepared.

David Drayman has sung with distortion for years, Henk has sung with distortion only for the first hour(s) in his life. Technically Disturbed's version is much better. The version by Henk was awesome on a technical & physical level. Why? Try singing this song sitting down and _not_ raise your shoulders.
As a next #BZ song, I'm suggesting Henk Poort & Emma Heesters singing "Vivo Per Lei".

This *is* the Disturbed version, in terms of arrangement. As fantastic as Poort is, I think David's version is better. Poort was playing around with adding distortion to his voice, which was cool, but it didn't feel like he's got it down yet. He also brought it in a few lines early in this version, which kinda cheapens the reveal of "and the people bowed and prayed, to the neon God they made" where David brings in the growl in his version.
Long story short. I like this, but I think the Disturbed version is a tad better.

I love the fact that Floor is completely over the moon with Henk, and that Henk is completely captivated by Floor.
The mutual respect and admiration is just friggen adorable; considering prior to this Beste Zangers series, the Dutch didn't really have a clue who Floor Jensen was; yet Henk Poort was a household name.
whoever trained him for 40 years should be ashamed... if he had been good before changing style that may have been something worth talking about but Henk sounds poor before or after "Changing his style" ... I heard to cats in heat cover this song better than Henk did...

Henk is an opera singer so I think he is doing more than a great job, learning disturbed singing in only two hours... and this was the first time live.
Besides this fantastic version the only (for me) version that is no1. is the original by Simon & Garfunkel.
I am partial to Henk's version.
