The motion value for that run + stab attack is raised significantly for Striker Lance. Essentially the gameplay boils down to just spamming that run for optimal damage.
Striker gives the charge its full 70 mv without needing to run for a few seconds. That, combined with increased art charge speed, makes it really easy to get away with just charge + abs evade/readiness.
The G1 Bloodbath run, the parry you see is literally just the original lance counter. Its in rise as well. It first came with MH tri, and has been a staple part of lances moveset since. 8:30
Another thing to note about Lance is the Hunter Art called Shield Dash (I think). The version in Sunbreak is nothing compared to how it is here in GU. Goes through everything and you haul your rear end toward the monster like you’re in a car, followed by a hefty forward stab.
Honestly those sidehop dodges made me do an outright frame by frame analysis to see if they were cheating, and it's kinda even more absurd that they aren't. Notice that they only do it to wide sweeping moves, and if you look at it frame by frame (you can use < and > to navigate as such), the hitbox is in contact with their character model for a very brief period, and I guess it's just brief enough that the hop can actually go straight through it with I-frames. It really speaks to their positioning that they ultimately only have to dodge attacks like that.
my man they're not cheating they're just hardcore as hecc back in the day, there were no crazy DPS builds, the meta was evasion. veteran hunters from 2nd gen are able to do crazy evasive moves like it's no one business because back then the roll only had 2 frames of invincibility (as opposed to the 4+ frames of modern MH games) in GU dodging is way easier, is more responsive and the controls are better than an old PSP lol the feeling is like getting to drive an automatic car after years of driving an old 1960's car.
Take solace in knowing that there is no known way to invisibly manipulate dodge frame data in GU. If he was cheating, it would be in terms of damage dealt but you can easily verify suspicions by manually calcing every hit.
I have replicated all of those dodges (though obviously not even coming close to the same consistency Zebra can). They are definitely possible. The least forgiving windows are honestly the roars, and a lot of the attacks that don't look forgiving are actually not the hardest to pull off, like the charged tail slam with delayed explosion from hellblade or the wing sweeps from boltreaver.
@@doothdooth Zebra streams still to this day his Hellblade runs. He isn't cheating, he is just living in Hellblade and Ingle Isle ledge jail for the rest of his MHGU career.
These runs really felt like that meme: "If a monster is about to attack you just say no, a monster legally can't deal damage without your permission" Also that last run was crazy, they only got hit once the whole time. Uno asking when they healed like man, they didn't they just didn't take any damage after that and the red gauge filled up again.
THIS MAN PUT MY COMMENT IN A VIDEO AAHHHHH Real talk Uno, I'm so glad I found your channel. I consistently love any and all content you put out. Loved your Pokémon playthrough, as well as your Monster Hunter stuff. I'll stick around for the ride, really no matter what you do.
Just from the title I knew it would be Zebra doing the speedruns. That guy is a Lance beast. He didn't do as many runs on Rise compared to his GU runs. I used to play a lot of Lance on 4U, GU and world.
The big thing with Strike Lance is its charge attack. Normally with other Lance Styles (Valor, Adept, etc.), you need to be charging for a little bit before your finishing poke has full damage. But Striker Lance always has a full-damage charge finisher, meaning you can spam it. It also has great motion-value at 67 compared to Lance's usual 20s/30s range for most of its normal attacks. This means that optimal DPS revolves around using this relatively strong charge finisher on repeat.
@@Uno_Hunter No no, that applies to the other Lance styles. Striker Lance is special because it DOESN'T need to charge for a bit to increase the finisher's damage. It instead ALWAYS has a full-damage charge finisher. This is why speedruns are focused on spamming the charge finisher, because there's no downtime for building up its damage. It always has full damage even if you literally just chain it one after the other, and the 67 motion-value of that spammable move makes it the best in Striker Lance's non-Hunter Arts arsenal. This is why you don't really see people use the charging attack with Adept Lance, as it does need to build up damage by running a bit. Striker Lance doesn't need to do this.
Yeah Striker Lance doesn't have the heavy poke that Guild does, it gets the old faithful triple poke combo. But for some stupid reason, the Lance charge finisher is buffed for Striker as well to the point of being overtuned lol
Lance main here; Lance is still one of the fastest and most aggressive weapons in the game. A part of what allows them to ignore attacks without guard skills is the Guard Advance build into the weapon. By blocking and pressing Triangle/X/Attack and a direction, you'll do a dodge hop, but also have your shield guarding for you. Add to the fact that lances have the most base i-frames on their dodges; of which they can do three in a row for the same stamina cost as other weapons, and you don't really need to guard at all outside of Guard Advancing. Also; Lance Charge is still relevant as a gap closer, but has been mostly replaced by Lunging Thrust; which is basically a 3 hit stab you can do after Guard Advancing. TDS has a pefect example of Lance Aggression in Rise, the actual gameplay is almost completely the same as in MHGU here, except they use Lunging Thrust instead of Lance Charge due to it's addition to the game. listen Uno. it's not impossible to learn how to dodge like pro if you are willing to put the effort in if you want to learn how to sidestep dodge like that, I suggest old MH portable games in P3rd, FU and Freedom the framerate and crazy/big hitboxes force you to learn the timming of dodging with precision thankfully there's an easy way to learn that skill, you gotta fight a Nargacuga with a Switch axe in P3rd it has the best window frame for learning dodging skills and it's Fair and completely doable, but not easy. learn to master that fight and you'll start to see when to I-frame dodge through fast moving and predictable hitboxes. Good luck and Good Hunting!
I always found sidestepping and back stepping a lot easier to get the timing to evading stuff over the rolll one even in 3U you could just turn your back and back step everything.
3 key things with striker lance : 1) the jumping and backwards charge finisher are removed, keeping with only the standard front poke finisher. Not a bad thing since those tow rarely used (atleast in my case) but the tradeoff is that the mv for the front poke finisher is nasty high 2) lance from each monster hunter generations always has the triple poke as standard combo, this isnt even changed in gen5. However for gen and genU, every style has the long strong poke for the 3rd combo in the X combo (or triangle in ps buttons), it does good damage but the animation itself is slow, just prone to attack. Only striker keep the traditional simple poke as the 3rd combo 3) lance surprisingly has really good hunter arts, which you can abuse with striker. One playstyle literally called absolute lancing, where you take the 2 absolute HAs and 1 lance unique HA, like enraged guard
Yep, I've had a butt load of hours in MH and I still can't get to this level of prediction on any monster except for Tigrex, Zinogre and Nargacuga... These three are the only exception where I just roll through evrything and finish their asses in about 8 minutes... Hell even the Rath fuckers are harder to dodge at times... Also what makes the Striker Lance stronger is because of the insane amount of damage from the charge finisher pairing it with Enraged Guard Three and you get even more massive damage
I believe the parries you see are basically an advance guard. They get a guard point while moving forward. Also, I need to reconfirm this but Evasion in Generations go up to like 3 or 4? With that, the entire hop is invincible. Of course, this is moot since the speedrunner is just going offensive skills lol.
nah, that parry is just lances regular counter. it can be held, or released immediately for a quick counter. its been in monster hunter lance since tri. 8:31
Essentially, striker loses the big poke from the tripple poke combo and just gets the regular 3rd poke, but your run for some reason goes to max mv of 70 without having to run for a few seconds first like every other style. The very fast and powerful run alongside strikers art guage fill lets you easily use absolute evasion, plus extra damage from enraged guard. Then corkscrew jab is used in big openings for massive damage
I think the motion value for a charge moving hit plus a finishing stab is around 80, for comparison gs charge level 3 is around 90, so yeah the striker lance is powerful EDIT: It was 86 a charge hit and poke, and GS charge level 3 was 100, so yeah its crazy if you can land it over and over
These aren't just the old gen speedrunners. The new age hunters are also growing, with the knowledge brought out by the old gen. The positioning, the understanding, all of what makes the hunt an actual hunt is learned by every hunter as they progress. Especially when you farm a monster, you can see how fast one hunter gets better at that monster.
One love your channel Uno very fun cconcept and why he Block look like is invisible on Bloodbath Fight reason is he drink Mega Dash Juice the stamina Will go down in 5 min in hunt is perfect for Lance Ask Lance Main stamina is more important for blocking, everytime you blocking stamina go down
As far as broken stuff goes striker lance is only broken in terms of damage. Valor gs and valor ls and valor hbg are the worse offenders honestly. Mainly due to the fact that the damage is also absurd but they have extra utilities attached to these damage values. And the additional problem is the fact that valor dodge exists. And people tend to try and abuse it which in my experience leads to quick tripple carts and failed hunts. Still the video title is 100% correct, striker lance is the best style damage wise for that weapon type
