The adept style greatsword was all I ever wanted, even after they added the valor style I still preferred to use adept. A few days ago I did the mushroom mission and I remember that the first time years ago I tried to hunt the glavenus but my time ran out, this time I was able to do it.
They really need to take notes from older mh games with how impactful the weapons are. Literally you just feel every hit and most of all, the weight of the weapon.

As a sword and shield main, I say with the highest respect that the great sword is the truest embodiment of the soul of monster hunter. Big sword, big number, big trouble for big monster. I heartily salute you airplane wing-swinging chads.
I remember playing adept LongSword back in this generation of monster Hunter. Upgraded that to valor when I had it in XX and it was pretty dope when you combined it with the Hunter art for unlimited gauge.
The new greatsword and longsword counters in sunbreak really helped with trying to bring this feeling of weight + intelligent timing for dps back. However, I find myself coming back to GU as the quests, variety, and overall progression feels better
I recommend trying valor greatsword, valor insect glaive, and striker switch-axe! Those were some of my favorites to play in G.U. though I forget which style I liked to use gunlance with.
didnt finish gen but i will get around to it. i was still new so timing adept evades didnt work out for me. I had a lot more fun with aerial style lol. I was having too much fun up in the air

@@thyhone71 what i love about valor db is the fact that i dont need mdj, i hate mdj farming, its the only thing what prevents me to use db in any game, except for gen 5, and gen 2 because they hadnt nerf it yet for db.
you can make this strategy even better against dash moves by dodging in the same direction that the monster is moving. it takes practice, but it's absolutely amazing
Great sword always intimidated me because it seemed deceptively simple, but trying it out with adept style was such a blast, really wish they’d bring back something at least akin to styles or the moves that they had
Personally not a fan of Adept GS. The long running animation which can't be cancelled early kinda sucks. Before GU came, I was abusing aerial GS for those times where I just want to turn my brain off. Then valor GS came & it changed my life forever...
