I have made eyes using the clear ornaments before but never used the foam clay... just painted all the detail on this really looks cool. One thing that adds some cool detail is mica dust dry brushed on then sealed with clear spray.
PS your vids are AWESOME! I love seeing others who make patterns like I do.... I have always flown by the seat of the pants in all my seamstressing and crafting
I love the depth the clear bulb gives it. I've always done eyes with beveled glass pieces and wet nail polishes scratched out with tools on the flat back. It's a really cool effect, but this looks awesome for larger models at a lower cost.
I use the same globes and paint my eyes on the interior of the globe. I like the look of the insert very much and Im gonna try and redo my dragon eyes. very well done my friend!
Very cool! I made one of your pumpkins and everybody mentioned how creepy the eyes were so I figured I better keep that on my toolbox. I was thinking about making an eye of Sauron if I could find a bit larger dome. My friends loved the different layers of color in the eyes. I gave them the usual spiel about how much more paint I use now, thanks to you. **grins** Thanks, Steve! Definitely looking forward to the dragon head build.
Thanks for another great video Steve! Any advise for distressing a wire brush? I've tried scrubbing it on some concrete chunks, and the bristles are just too regular to use for detailing foam.
Thanks! No puppets yet but yes it is on my list for a video at some time. My hopes are that some use the dragon build to make their own arm puppets even if I’m using it for a wall mount
I’m working on making your dragon head and I can’t find what small bulbs to buy . What size are they. I ordered the ones in the links and they came both large and small were the same size .not sure what to get now . And unfortunately my craft stores don’t have any small ones
4:54 you keep calling these paints cadmium xyz but the tubes says cadmium free on all but one. Just a heads up so you can adjust so ppl who don’t pay as much attention don’t use the wrong colors if they are just listening and not really reading the tubes.

making a dragon puppet for renfair, this will be a perfect to get the eyes just right!
Awesome! Glad I could help 🙌
First time I saw that pumpkin I was amazed at them. The dragon just confirms how awesome that is
I tell you what the added gloss varnish for the dragon worked great and something I will add to add to all future eyes
that dragon head would be perfect for a Godrick cosplay... I shall wait and BEAR WITNESS to the video
Definitely! My hope is that people can use it as a mounted head, for cosplay, or for an arm puppet.
I'm a dad, and I approve this pun.
My respects!
Thanks!

Yep, and adding the additional gloss varnish to the foam clay underneather of the bulb made a huge difference

Get one cheaper with a thinner gauge wire I think the little one I picked up from harbor freight years ago
please tell me you're gonna show how to make that dragon head. because the moment I saw it I got excited for both the eyes and the head.😃
It’s in the works. Follow my instagram for progress pics
@@SKSProps woo! I'm excited to see that! :D
Awesome
Thanks!
Now I'm trying to figure out a way to make a dragon costume so when the head drops... I'm ready. In the mean time, i might have a new habit. Eyes!!!!
Awesome!! 🙌🙌🙌
first
Lol
This was a good tutorial. SKS Props, I have a question, have you ever done a puppet tutorial for this channel? Maybe that can be for a future video.
Thanks! No puppets yet but yes it is on my list for a video at some time. My hopes are that some use the dragon build to make their own arm puppets even if I’m using it for a wall mount
I think the dragon head build will inspire everyone to make their own arm puppets.
Somebody needs to use this to make a "pet" Sauron's eye in a terrarium or something. :-)
🤣🤣🙌
Hope your cold gets better. I have had killer sinus issues too.
I always have sinus issues 😞
@@SKSProps me too. I get infections constantly

In my latest beholder pumpkin video I have specific updated links to the small bulbs
@@SKSProps thanks so much! I’ll go check it out now

Cadmium and cadmium free are the same hue. some shops will only carry one or the other doesn’t matter which version you can find
@@SKSProps hhmmm one is just no metal then. I figured it would make a difference.
Could these work on a smaller scale for wearable masks?
Of course the dragon eyes are pretty small and would work great
@@SKSProps Thanks! ^^
YOU KNOW KAZPLAY, RIGHT??????????
I know of Kaz but I don't think we have ever met in person just online
