I built one using cardboard I know this template was intended to be used with foam but I’m going to be honest if you don’t have foam I’d say cardboard works great although the material is less durable it still works pretty well but some pieces you might want to use a thinner type cardboard material on other than that this is an amazing and very fun project :D
As a furry (yes we’re still flooding in haha!) this will be sooo useful because I unfortunately don’t have hundreds of dollars to buy a resin or 3d printed base, so I’ll use this!
The mask at the end reminds me a fossilized skull of a dire wolf. Amazing work! And also, i noticed, that you're the only one, who made such a realistic wolf/dog skull mask and made the template for it absolutely free! That deserves respect!

I know im supposed to use foam for this, but im gonna try it with cardboard since ive done the deer skull one with cardboard twice. It was so much fun doing it with cardboard, my brother thought it was cool too
If you use my foam it doesn’t require a lot of heat like less dense products out there you can manipulate it by hand. But otherwise no you have to add heat. Which they are cheap you can get them at most tool and craft stores for $20-$30
i just want to say that it is just amazing. Whole my life i was watching videos with master works. Dioramas, cosplays, dollmaking etc, and everytime it was just like "eeeww....too hard" or "dont have materials"/ But i wanted skulldog so much, im not even furry, but when i saw how expensive are they i was just like "okay if i had as much money - i ve absolutely bought one'. 3 weeks i was looking for a tutorial, first time even seen this and was just like ''again to hard''. But i was so dissapointed with fact that there is no more good tutorials so i decided to do it. I still have no foam, but ive done it with cardboard and polymer clay and im so happy, im so proud of myself, first time in my life ive done something from ''that masteric artists videos''. Just want to say thank you for pdf and your amazing work
can admit that polymer + cardboard done a little mor fraigle result, I’ll think about how to seal the cardboard from the inside, maybe I’ll throw a piece of linoleum or fabric soaked with super glue inside, in theory it will be like a stone😁

Oh oh oh this could not have come at a better time. I don't have money for materials yet, but at least now I can learn how to do this so that when I can afford the materials, I can get right on it! Gotta do what I can for my scrap piece partial fursuit ;w;
That works fine in oil or bake clay but wont hold the details on foam clay because it expands some as it dries then shrinks as the moisture wicks out. So any details you add have to be more dramatic when applied
@@SKSProps well yeah with anything expanding. But then you always get the neat after effects of all the wrinkling to make some neat skin effects with the foam after it has contracted :)

I just ordered a 3D printed k9 skull mask but i want to use my 3D pen over top of it to make a second one- its just a matter of figuring out how to make the hinges! Awesome tutorial!

Use whatever you want, but foam would be much easier to work with and a lot more durable
@SKSProps definitely. I just tend to have a bit of cardboard around, but I'm absolutely gonna make it with Eva foam when I get some
I do not have a heat gun, is there any way I can do something else to get the foam easier to mold?

@@RascalCreations not hot enough to do any good for manipulation. hair dryers only get up to 140-150 degrees heat guns are 1200-1400

Wha should I do if whenever I tried to move the jaw while wearing it but the upper skull keep on moving up and down
