It's so eerily quiet there. No buildings, no traffic on the streets, very few passengers, only the passing of trains and buses to disturb the silence. Almost unsettling and a bit surreal for a brand new station.
I look forward to when the precinct is fully fledged out in a few years time. The place will be unrecognisable. We can only hope they keep following the plan and we get really cool TOD and a proper town centre rather than another sea of colorbond roofed, yardless, single story 4x2s jammed together like everywhere else in the northern beaches.

I love the way the announcer says Alkimos. What a beautiful station it is. Definitely future-proof like the others. It was a fun day on that opening day travelling to all the stations and around the area.

The "side" platforms that you mentioned where the platforms are outside the tracks, they are actually called "marginal" platforms (they are located at the margins of the track).
When the platform is between the tracks it is called an "island" platform (because the platform is surrounded like an island)

A side platform is a reasonable and simpler name that is commonly used too.
Island platform is the basic name that most people call platforms in the middle of the tracks anyway.

Hey Mark, another great video, its great to see so many art installations in the station as in Melbourne we are doing a similar thing for out metro tunnel. Its also pretty cool to see so many types of trains running on the Joond.... sorry, yanchep line. Hopefully the extention is being well used, and you never know there might even be an extension to two rocks some day!! (probably in the distant future😂)

How far is Alkimos from Perth and the terminus of the line?
Amazing development.... as you have said very different from the Auckland system
p.s. I like the sound of the A series best.

Nice vid! I loved exploring the new stations myself and am excited for the future around the areas
I still wonder why they made the station signs black for the new stations, which now makes the whole line a mess of designs, with the old light box style with the old font (Joondalup) and the new font (Currambine) the signs with no light, and now these in black.
I hope there will be an effort to make them consistent at some point ahah

@@Raburigaron Definitely I hate the black signs it destroys the branding of the line.

It really hurts to see people disrespecting my suburb like this.
