edit: happy fifth anniversary three houses!!! We’re officially post timeskip now fam 🫡 IM FINALLY BACKKKKKK 🫡 Hope you enjoy the video! If you’ve played three houses, tell me all about your thoughts and experiences with the game!! I hope you guys loved it as much as I did or want to give it a try!
@@darktheg.o.d5541 it was definitely very noticeable in hindsight lol, but I played Golden Deer first, so I wasn’t as used to hearing Edelgard’s voice as some others were. Tara Platt’s way of speaking can be very easy to spot
I remember getting to play smash bros with Faye Mata (Petra’s VA) and Billy Kametz (Ferdinand’s VA) and they were both such cool and friendly people. Absolute tragedy we lost him so young
Oh that’s so cool, they seem like super fun and chill people! And yeah it was really sad hearing his voice in three hopes at first, knowing that he wouldn’t be doing any future work and wouldn’t be in any more of the cast collabs. Such a talented voice actor and it was so upsetting to see someone so young go through what he did.
Fantastic video! Love hearing your thoughts on this phenomenal game! Funny enough I ALSO wrote about Three Houses for college! Not only that, I got to meet Edelgards voice actress Tara Platt! She was absolutely delightful!
I'm the Fire Emblem/JRPG guy of my friend group and every time someone comes to me about Three Houses I direct them straight to the Blue Lions. Especially if someone is thinking of dropping the game early, whether it's because they only want to do one route or because they aren't enjoying the game. Imo Blue Lions is amazing, the other three are just alright
@@Snowstorm... yeah if you just want a great story and don’t care as much about the worldbuilding, lore, and what’s really going on with all the unanswered questions, the Blue Lions is a great story! However, if you play Deer, then Lions, then Edelgard’s route (church route is just worse Claude route other than that Dimitri scene and the final battle lol), everything finally clicks and that’s why it’s all so fascinating to so many of us
@@rhettmitchell Yeah ik, I've finished everything in that game. Although, I believe the Black Eagles route and Cindered Shadows are the only routes where Rhea explains Byleth's birth (Specifically that they would've lost the mother and the baby if she hadn't performed the surgery) so really you'd still have to play Silver Snow or buy the DLC to get the actual entire picture. Plus, VW/SS's reveals happen way too late in an already slow story and CF is rushed, sloppy, and doesn't add a whole lot so... Honestly? The only people who would actually finish all of that are the ones who are already extremely invested in the game and going to do it anyways. Nothing I do or say would change that
I also picked the black eagles for my first playthrough and I remember how shocked I was during the Edelgard plot twist heck I’m still shocked about it to this day. I also wanted to say this video made me remember why I loved this game so much keep up the great work
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video!! Yeah I remember having to physically put my switch down when they revealed that bc my pea brain was actually blown lmao
what ppl who never played FE dont understand is that as far as pasing goes, the gameplay in FE is lightning fast compared to how fights go in most turn based games, plus moving around in a map creates context to distance and a more natural back and forth between the player team and the enemy team than how, lets say, final fantasy usually does with one static team on one side trading blows against a static team on the other side and taking forever for each combat to be resolved, plus the animations in FE are sick. They hear "turn based" and "strategy" and think it's gonna be slow, but it's not, at least as far as each combat goes, some maps are bigger than others, but that's usually a whole chapter of the story
Yes, I think calling it turn based strategy does it a disservice lol. You can rip thru battles really quick honestly and even if you don’t, it’s set up in a way that makes longer battles feel well done and streamlined!
I’m so late to this video, BUT I’m so glad you talked about how incredible the writing of this game is, and that it’s one of Nintendo’s best games period. I feel like so many people discount the writing of this game for a myriad of reasons. That being people who just didn’t pay attention, who didn’t even play the game, and those without our favorite buzz words: ~media literacy~. I’ve literally seen people complaining about the game having morally complex/grey characters. Like, that’s what makes the game so interesting and why people still argue about it today! If the characters were all black and white, good or bad, the game would not be nearly as successful as it is
I’m the biggest black eagles fan and on my first playthrough, I was so pissed at Edelgard once the plot twist happened, but when you had to make the choice that could switch the route… I couldn’t do that to her, and I’m so happy I didn’t because I love Crimson Flower so much.
Two months late but I have to share this. It’s one of my favourite moments from this game. Hidden in a random support convo between Annette and Claude, there is cultural context for why Dimitri is so consumed by the idea of avenging the dead at Duscur. Claude mentions that Eastern Faerghus legends (where Dimitri grew up) say those who die with regret go to the underworld (basically hell). So when Dimitiri loses everyone dear to him & these horrifying childhood stories become reality, the extreme lengths he goes to avenge them suddenly make so much more sense. He wants to save his family and loved ones from suffering in hell! It’s such a core part of Dimitri’s beliefs and does so much to explain his motivations…yet it’s hidden away in a different route! 😭 Anyways it’s so cool so I felt I had to share it!
Oh wow, that’s so interesting! I didn’t recruit Annette to the golden deer so I never even saw that support, but that’s such a cool bit of lore and that would explain a lot actually. I love how this game has been out for five years and I’m still learning new things about it, thank you for sharing! That’s a really cool backstory!
Tbf I wrote an assignment on Xenoblade 3 for my Science-Fiction class and got an A+. Nintendo is getting allowing capable writers of crafting fire stories, and that is unfortunately forgotten.
Blue Lions' guy here. I can SO relate on the "investigative" of 3H. Absolutely loved the fact that in each route you'd have some mysteries unsolved. And as you go through all the other routes, not only you learn about the other students you didn't give a crap about, but also about other sides of conflict, of history - it was a blast, finding out everything about that world IS made. And though I still have some questions which border with plotholes, such as "Why Rhea didn't go crazy in other routes?" or "What the hell happened in BL after Edelgard's defeat?" I can appreciate the fact that anyone can come up with their own theory. You know, as one of my favorite video makers once said: "Good games always leave some kind of secret"
I agree that there were some loose ends but honestly I’ll forgive them for it because I don’t feel it takes away from the game the way the unfinishedness of three hopes does. I loved getting to fill in the blanks myself based on exploring and replaying the games, it really lets you decide how much you wanna invest in the world and the lore and its just soooo good
The fact that they made a warriors sequel that was actually good and had a really enjoyable story and provided a lot to three houses speaks volumes about the impressive world building and writing imo. I played the original FE warriors and it was an absolute nightmare in terms of story haha, I was so happy to see how well they pulled it off with strong material as a backbone
@@eeveestrations The world is so solid that even possible retcons in Hopes fit neatly into the story of Houses. I love a setting with a genuine history to discover like that.
Earlier this year, I went back to replay this game and I have not been able to put it down since (I've just been replaying blue lions over and over because I am way too obsessed with that house lol). I forgot just how freaking AMAZING this game is! I agree with pretty much all your points. I also really appreciate the highlight you did on Ingrid. She's my favorite non-lord character (Dimitri is my favorite lord and FE character of all time)! I love the tragedy in her story with Glenn and just her character overall. Great video!! :D
The game is literally so good I had so much more to say but didn’t want the video to go too long lol! And yeah i definitely wanted to highlight Ingrid bc I know she gets memed on a lot, but she was a perfect example of a seemingly one note character who had a lot of really great and interesting development! I’m actually starting a blue lions run of three hopes now and I can’t wait to use Ingrid as one of my main four!
I got into fire emblem relatively late with three houses, and I can’t explain how amazing it felt playing it for the first time, crimson flower first, then blue lion, and just finished verdant wind (and really want to play silver snow even though I got spoiled on how it goes). This game came in a very specific time in my life, and it became on of my favorite games of all time, and my favorite fire emblem game. (The story and world building is insane as well, I love searching for every aspect of it)
as a FE fan since the GBA games, this is a good top 3 for me in the series, lots of good story moments and especially characters, makes want to save everyone
My second favorite game of all time. The characters, the music, the story, the lore, the voice acting, the mix of relationships sim and war strategy. Sooooo good
Me too! If they ever did a prequel I’d eat it all up! And I really need to check that video out, he did some really hilarious videos with the cast through the years and they’re always so great haha
I bought this game reluctantly as a birthday gift now it's a game I absolutely cherish, and still play to this day suffering in maddening now I'm really appreaciating the in depth gameplay and all. I chose blue lions as my first route and I don't regret it
I remember getting it with Christmas money and being soooo reluctant to get it at target lmao 😭 honestly was worth it! I would’ve kicked myself forever if I’d chosen not to play it just because I didn’t want to go out and buy the game lol
I agree with you on Chris Hackney’s performance as Dimitri, but I also cannot get over how stellar Allegra Clark is as Dorothea. Absolutely PERFECT casting job. She just has a magic to her performance and has slightly different placements in her voice depending on the situation Dorothea is in, it’s just magical. Her performance when talking about Doro’s backstory with Manuela, Hanneman, Yuri, Ferdinand, & so many others is so wonderfully heartbreaking. And not to mention IF you kill Ferdinand during the timeskip, what she has to say during the exploration dialogue after that 😭 and we gotta talk about every time she sings opera in the game like come onnnnn
I wrote my main college essay on Berserk, my favorite manga of all time, and how it helped me learn to accept the help of friends, grow as a person, and persevere in the face of challenges. And I wrote a supplemental on Three Houses, my favorite game of all time, and how it taught me to be more open minded, accepting of other’s opinions, and strong enough to determine my own beliefs. And guess who’s going to Vanderbilt in a month If you’re going through the college process, don;t be afraid to show who you truly are. Show what truly matters to you and what helped you become who you are-especially if it’s a powerful experience, or a friend or story. You got this guys!
Hey congrats on getting in to Vandy, that’s huge!! If only I had applied there haha, sounds like they would’ve appreciated my three houses essay more than a certain Californian school did lol. I second your advice to any students reading this tho, there’s thousands of students writing essays about volunteering and sports because they think that’s what schools want to see, so it pays to stand out! Another good school asked me to write about an embarrassing moment of mine and I just went all in on with the humor on that essay and I got in, so definitely don’t be afraid to show colleges a bit of personality!
I actually wrote one of my application essays about Xenoblade 2. It helps that I was applying to a game design program, and I'm focusing on storytelling and worldbuilding, but writing about video games you're passionate about is totally valid.
Oh that’s so awesome! I hope whoever read it fully appreciated how cool that is lol, it’s gotta make for a more interesting essay than the average ‘I love to volunteer and help others accept me pls’ applications essays haha
@@eeveestrations Yea, definitely. I think Three Houses is another great game to write about. I had kind of a weird experience with the game at first since it was my first fire emblem game, and I also ended up going with Black Eagles. I really resonated with Edelgard's philosophy, so I was really conflicted for all of part 2, because I honestly kind of agreed with her that the church was the problem. It just kind of left an odd taste in my mouth after my first playthrough, but I really stated to appreciate it after going through the other routes. I loved all the other routes, but I really didn't like Silver Snow, so having that as my first experience of the game was kind of unfortunate. But I'm really glad I didn't drop the game after my first playthrough and stuck with it.
@@taplay5383 yeah, I got silver snow too first and wasn’t the biggest fan of that particular route haha. Sucks that crimson flower wasn’t nearly as polished, but it was still cool to see the two different perspectives of the black eagles.
Hello! Happened upon your channel from my suggestions and I love the content! Keep it up! I haven’t played fire emblem since the gba games. But I’m definitely going to now!
I do too honestly, seeing his brother in hopes was nice but I really wish they’d actually done a campaign in Almyra vs just telling us about it. I guess we can only hope that when three houses remastered releases in 2043, it includes more content 😭
As a fire emblem fan who thinks the tellius games (fire emblem 9 and 10) are the best, i can at least agree that three houses is right behind it, the story is so good ahhhh
Dimitri's one of my favourite characters in fiction, I love him to bits and Chris Hackney's *insane* voice acting is a huge part of why. But he'd be nothing without the writing too, I really appreciate Dimitri's depression and self hatred and can relate to parts of it, and some of the struggles he goes through (obviously without the trauma and violent tendencies).
ugh Dimitri is just such a good character, while all the three lords are really good he easily has the most impressive voice acting and character writing. Three houses was one of the first fully voice acted games I played, so the sheer quality of everyone’s voice acting just blew me away. The first time I saw the holy tomb cutscene was insane!
Thank you so much!!!! My editing skills do need work haha I never edited before starting my channel less than a year ago! Really glad you enjoyed the video regardless of my noob editing!
I thought the title was gonna be click bait but as soon as you said fire emblem I knew I was in for a treat! great video, would love to hear more of these about other games keep up the good work homie 🤙
thank you so much, really glad you liked the video!!!! If this one does reasonably well I definitely want to do Pokemon and Xenoblade in particular, they might be a bit more controversial haha but if people want to see more like this then I’m happy to share my many thoughts!
@@eeveestrations both sound great! never played xenoblade but get what you mean about the controversiality as long as you're happy making em, keep it up!
I really love Three Houses (it's probably my favorite game of all time), but I do wish that White Clouds was more different for each route. I started out with the Blue Lions (Dimitri, my beloved) and really liked how all the characters were tying into the threats of each chapter (i.e. Ashe with Lord Lonato, Sylvain with Miklan, Mercedes with the Death Knight, etc...) so I was really looking forward to seeing what the other classes were up to on their routes. The answer being "the exact same thing, minus the personal connections" really makes it seem like playing any other house other than the Blue Lions for your first route is really just playing an inferior version of Part 1. Obviously once you hit the Timeskip it's a lot more subjective what's the best route, but I still say it almost comes across as route favoritism by the developers. Having unique part 1 experiences for each house is possibly the biggest missed opportunity in the game in my opinion, besides Rhea not being playable in Silver Snow of course.
Oh you actually read the abyssal library books! Oh you're real as hell, I thought the stuff about the church stifling technological advancement and the discovery of oil was so cool in there
Yeah I read them out of sheer curiosity and was shocked at how much crazy stuff was in there 😭 just amazing world building to me with how cool and totally optional it was
I really need to replay this game. The gameplay, artstyle, music, and characters are all fantastic. I sort of messed up my first playthrough because I also joined Edelgard's house, but ended up taking the church route. I wanted to join Edelgard, but I legitimately thought that most of the characters wouldn't join you if you went to her, and you'd have to end up fighting them. Then I beat the game and look it up and realize that they all just go with you anyway, sooooooo oops. I also have to replay Shadow Dragon, because I failed to save Tiki the first time because I SUCK at Fire Emblem. Also great video! Always glad to see this game getting more love
Ok I honestly thought that too lol I did NOT want to be stuck with just Hubert haha I’m so glad it was just a normal route, it was super fun! A bit short and unfinished but it was nice to actually not be trying to actively kill my favorite character for once lol
Absolutely agreed with everything. I picked up this game cause a friend told me I should try it and I unfortunately put it away after the first few chapters. I picked it up eventually and now it’s my favorite game of all time. Went blue lions route first, didn’t know a game could make me cry
This is the first one that made me cry too haha something about seeing how everyone’s life turned out after the game ends just got me. So glad you decided to give it a second chance!!
there's this one video essay on how those who slither in the dark are sort of butchered in houses but are sort of salvaged by hopes simply from the presence of arval or epimendes. you should watch it if you get a chance
Fire Emblem Awakening and Fire Emblem Three Houses almost tie as my two favorite games of all time. I actually also wrote papers about those games, and the rest of the series in school, too! FE is easily my favorite video game series of all time.
Rhea is not evil! ☹️ I would commit war crimes to see my dead mom again too. 😢 Edelgard wants unification which just happens to be synonymous with continental domination? 🤨 Lil sus tbh. Claude is the True good guy in the story. Eradicate racism and have a good time. ✌🏽😎 Marianne best girl tho btw FEAR THE DEER! Really cool to see someone talk so passionately about my favorite game series! Great video! I hope you’ll play Echoes next if you haven’t already! Stellar voice acting in that game as well! Every single game is the series is absolutely amazing, but unfortunately three houses is kinda the only one that is not just constant battles,so I’d understand if you’d get bored, but hopefully you’ll check some out anyway! Path of Radiance is my favorite! Hope too see more FE videos in the future! You got my Sub!
Oh man 3h is like my 3rd or 4th favorite game. Such a good game. My favorite is Azure Moon but imo no route is bad. Rhea Claude Edelgard Dimitri... theyre all such amazing characters! I think the characters are my favorite part. What a game... honestly I want another fodlan game. Maybe one more about Rhea during her initial war? But I'll take nearly anything. I love this world so much ❤
Edit: The game is called Three Houses in English because of obviously the three countries and leaders. BUT the Japanese title references the four routes by being called Four Seasons (or something like that, it's a Japanese idiom iirc) Figured I'd add this cuz it's a bit of neat trivia. There was no equivalent meaning in Japanese for "Three Houses" as we mean it here for a school context it was almost always translated as a literal house or home. Not gonna lie, this was a great thing to just trhow it all away for. Heck, my pic is Alois, you can TELL I love Three Houses too! I think it has its issues but I think the game has a lot of lore thats great and it really follows through on a lot of its plot points. Also Edelgard is one of my fave characters ever because of her being the villan and also the fact that they LET YOU SIDE WWITH THE BAD GUY Not only that bbut everyone has their morally questionable moments too. Also, Alois cuz he's best boi. Honestly, having that one person who'll always be at your side is great. He's also a BEAST of a unit
A lot of your thoughts on 3H are the same that I have on Xenoblade 2. Anime artstyle that people get turned off by and miss out on in-depth characterizations? YES Medieval fantasy with a major sci-fi twist? YES Both amazing games? YES
I actually just filmed a video on xc2 where I talked about exactly this! While I do feel that some of the xc2 criticisms are understandable, that game is so misunderstood by the broader gaming community and it’s just so unfortunate because it was a really fun time. I think you’ll enjoy next week’s video haha
i loved playing three houses so much i did 6 different playthroughs, if you include the ashen wolves dlc. 4 were the separate respective routes and 1 was another golden deer route which was done on new game maddening in order to get the golden filter on the title screen. this game had so many fleshed out character that i really enjoyed how they were handled. my fav lord is claude but my fav char from golden deer was marianne (who was the first char i married too). i related very much to how they portrayed her shyness and also really loved her supports with everyone, esp the one with hilda which was just the classic dynamic of an extrovert adopting an introvert, and ignatz which involved him helping her learn to take in the beauty of the world instead of looking down at her feet all the time. i remembered the first time i saw her timeskip portrait, i audibly gasped at how she lost her eyebags and was happy to see that she's getting more sleep. for blue lions, i loved ashe, his cute freckled face, and wholesomely earnest attitude about becoming a knight. he may not have a super tragic hook compared to the others in blue lions, but his straightforward and just overall pleasant air made him such a good boy to me. i also really liked how he would geek out with ingrid about past knights they looked up to in books they've read, those were super cute to see. for black eagles, i liked lindhardt and surprisingly hubert as well. i really loved lindhardt's blunt personality combined with being this kind of lethargic savant archetype and hubert being this very intimidating char who actually lowkey cares about his comrades as shown in his supports (i really enjoyed his rivalry to friends/lovers support with ferdinand as well.) plus all the dlc chars far exceeded my expectations in quality. i especially loved constance so much with her pompously eccentric behavior indoors that clashed with her self-depreciative and gloomy personality in the sun. this game carried me through the downtime i had between classes and im glad i bought this amazing game.
You should try Falcom's Trails series when the remake of the first game in the series comes out next year. The world building is extremely in depth, with each miniseries taking part in a different country within the same continent. There's nothing else like it in gaming, but it's admittedly very overwhelming to get into since there's been 11 games.
Three Houses is one of my most-played games. I've probably sunk 500 hours or more into it, easily. The story has a few flaws, but it's still drastically better than Engage was. Definitely agree with the music - it's been several years now since this game released and I still play the OST here and there. Their use of leitmotif is well done and really hits the emotions I assume they were aiming for. My first (also blind) playthrough of the game I managed to choose Edelgard's path, though you'll be disappointed to note that after having played all the routes, Silver Snow is my favorite route. I can appreciate Edelgard's appeal to meritocracy, though. (And her absolutely overpowered special ability from Aymr.) Good video.
@@eeveestrations Considering it even has a name (technically the character archetype name, because of the first unit that was great for doing it), yeah. That being said, I'm not sure about how 3H does it, but the devs have usually given you a pre-promoted unit to do it with, with the caveat being that the rest of your army doesn't get the experience they do, so it can be a bit of an early game sandpit if you aren't mindful of everyone else's level. That being said, IIRC Jagen-ing is what FE speedruns do.
I played 3H back-to-back-to-back when I first got it. Edelgard (siding with Edel), Dmitri, then Claude. I had suspicions about Edel my first playthrough, so wasn't 100% shocked, but on my 2nd one, I noticed Dimitri's never in the same room as the Red Emperor either, and I was wondering if the "villain" was always the leader of the house you chose. That'd've been cool. If you like story and developed characters, I have to ask: Have you played any Balder's Gate 3? Very different in feel, but equally rich story, diverse characters, and turn-based (though not really "strategic") combat.
That would’ve been so cool honestly! Kinda what I thought as well since I also did eagles first, would’ve been a logistical nightmare for the devs but it would’ve been so so cool. And no, I haven’t played bg3 🥲 only stuff I can play rn in handheld due to being in college dorms haha
This takes me back to my high school days but instead of a video game I got to write an essay of my experience watching a anime and reacting to it and what it was about. Best thing is it is my favorite anime of all time. Shakugan no Shana. From the unique story and cool characters to bad ass music to the flaws (my personal opinion) I really enjoyed this video you made and it makes me want to replay the game lol
My favourite aspect about edelgard is that i constantly try to reevaluate her as a character which ALWAYS ends the same: start new game, decide to go with edelgards route, then pick blue lions instead. Telling myself i should note dislike edelgard, end up disliking her anyways. Going through the entire game thinking " gonna kill that b**ch". After the finale, I am sad about what happened to her and think "maybe i should give her a chance next playthrough" Aaaand repeat with step 1.
haha the struggle is real, that’s sorta how I feel with Rhea! Obviously playing eagles first and liking Edelgard a lot made me dislike Rhea, but I can definitely see from her point of view more on certain routes and it’s very easy to see how some players see her as the good character in the situation. Minus the human experimentation lol that wasn’t very based
Three houses is so good, there is so much depth to the game in every aspect. Played through the game about 15 times (close to 2k hours). Moved on to Hopes for now, cuz I can never get enough of this cast and the world building of these games. My favourites characters are Felix, Dorothea, Seteth and Alois.
I played Crimson Flower first and really enjoyed it; I love the way the lore is dropped throughout all the routes, even if replaying the game is a bit tedious (I played through it like six times including maddening mode once). I will say I think Azure Moon is the best route on the whole, but I love both Blue Lions and Black Eagles. Phenomenal game on the whole and easily in my top 3 switch games
Honestly all the houses are so good at drawing you in to their side of the story and really making you care for the house involved. Blue lions had such an emotionally hard hitting story that I do think it’s the best route, only reason I liked CF more was bc I liked Edelgard so much haha but her route can’t compare to AM
I can say that to anyone that likes the gameplay of Three Houses and played it on normal please play it on maddening without new game+. It is so great seeing the game send the hardest it can send at you but your squad of army destroyers you raised from college tackle it. Yes it might not be as simple as place Byleth in front of enemy and hit end turn, but the game has so much depth with the many classes, skills, and battalions, that you can still tilt things in your favor.
"Byleth falls down a ravine or something" aka the vtuber rabbit hole LOL - seems like a perfect reason for the time skip xD Also: Edie all the way :D I recently listened to some of the Three Houses OST again and I got reminded again that while playing the game years ago I did not appreciate the music as much as I should have ^^' Thanks for the video! :)
Themes and world building are great. I love the Blue Lions route and Golden Deer's characters. In terms of gameplay and writing though... ughh. I wish I could like Three Houses more but I can't help but be more critical about a game when I'm passionate about it and Three Houses is a very flawed game that I'm very passionate about
Fear the Deer 🦌 the commoners and least powerful nobles who constantly are at war with Almyra. I know they are the least important to the plot, but it feels like the game allows you to play the bonus mode immediately. Also, this is the only route you can meet all four of the saints
If I would have been in your situation and decide to write a essay about a Video Game I would do it definatly about Grand Theft Auto 4. Unlike other GTA games it has a realistic and dark story that isnt just about running around and robbing banks and it not even has a real good ending. Its about a Serbian Veteran called Niko Bellic that went to liberty city (Fictional city thats pretty much a 1 to 1 to New York) where you go through shady businesses and kill for money while on the hunt for a traitor that killed all your past friends in the yugoslav war. One of the most realest and most serious games ever and the game can give you chills with how cold some of the dialogue or plot gets. Highly recomend.
I have almost 400 hours in it its a great game tho after that much and despite being at end game of blue lions madding I have almost no interest in playing it agien but any game that can give you 400 hours on content is a good one and if you haven't done a madding classic run do it its fun either verdent wind or chrismon flower is probably the easiest maddining is a bit tedious but the resounce magement of spells and gambits and threat evaluation or just comeing up witb a warp strat to finsh a map faster is super satisfieing especially if your planning from part 1 for certain builds to pay off later
3 hopes is certainly a good one too get sucked into, i was a bit miffed that the game was an alt reality rather than one that covers the offscreen events of 3 houses, But its still great, glad they are going ham with the storytelling in the second fire emblem (& hyrule) warriors spinoffs , The first fire emblem & hyrule warriors were perfectly good as simple fanservice games, but the sequels have pretty good story tieins
3 Houses a pretty good game thus far. I won the first mock battle at the school. I’ve now just been aimlessly wandering around doing things on campus. How do you get into your next battle..?
I LOVE this game, probably a little more than I should 😭. Everything about it is amazing. It was the first JRPG I ever played back in middle school and going in blind with Blue Lions was the most fun I’ve ever had with a game. I hadn’t really played any games quite like this at the time (I played mostly games like Mario and Zelda) and it brought me to a whole new Genre which I now love and encouraged me to play series like Xenoblade, Yakuza and Persona! But yeah, this game is one of the greatest Nintendo titles, no debate. The characters, music, gameplay and ESPECIALLY story, are all top tier. Just the scene of meeting Dimitri post timeskip alone just manages to get so much emotion out of me. I don’t think it will get out of my top 3 games of all time along with Persona 4 and Xenoblade 1. 🙏
I know, I love it way too much too 😭 and I really do love odyssey and BOTW but the three houses story is just so good that it beats out the better gameplay and graphics of the other two. It’s just so much fun all the way through
I remember picking BE without even knowing there was a 4th path, but always did what I needed to, and spoke to everyone else in the first one or two weeks maximum before Edie. Imagine my shock when I learned you could side with Rhea and that most people inadvertently sided with her because they didn’t speak to all their students. Side note, if someone says they hate Dorothea but like SYLVAIN….. red flag. No. Red blimp. Run, bitch, run.
I will not stand for chess slander! Nah, it's ok. Haven't played this game in years but I remember I had a great time, just not enough to play a different path because those first 10 or so days are the same. I picked Black Eagles->side with Edelgard route of course.
Can't believe it's already been 5 years. Definitely can see it as a classic up there with other JRPG's like Chrono Trigger, FF7, Paper Mario 1/2. Might be my favorite Fire Emblem (tough between Path of Radiance). Sorry you didn't get in. I would appreciate an essay like that as a gamer, but would reject in favor of something outlining maturity and responsibility 😛
tbf if a school is asking questions like this one and ‘what celebrity would you choose to room with’ and ‘what’s the soundtrack of your life rn’ I think the maturity and responsibility bit is already out the window, some schools do that honestly just to relieve the pressure and stress of applying or to get some entertaining reads. Another school asked about an embarrassing story I had to share and they accepted me despite the sheer stupidity of my essay so I doubt the fire emblem essay was really the deciding factor lol
The casts are what makes the stories for those two imo! They’re both filled with such great and interesting (and low key iconic lol) characters that I feel like it really helps to bring the story and gameplay up!
3 Houses definitely isn't my favorite Fire Emblem, but I do think it has excellent world building. Solid argument for the strongest world building in the series, though Tellius and Jugdral are also contenders. I just wish 3 Houses had stronger gameplay and better pacing. The monastery sections really become too tedious. Despite having 4 routes, it's one of the games I dislike replaying the most because the monastery sucks the life from me.
The monastery definitely does feel like a little much over time, I agree. I usually try to do all the monastery/base stuff in one go at the beginning of each chapter before doing any auxiliary battles to create a bigger buffer between when I’m using it haha
Three Houses was my third Fire Emblem game (Started with Sacred Stones on GBA, then Shadow Dragon DS) and I was pulled in instantly by the story. The GBA/GC/Wii games are ruthless, and are super tough, but have great stories. I felt like Three Houses took what people liked about Awakening and Fates, and turned in into the ideal FE starter game. While I dislike how the game handles classes compared to any other FE game, I really loved choosing whatever path I wanted for each unit. (Also Black Eagles was my first route, accidentally completed the requirements to join Edelgard) As an "old guard" FE fan, I'm super glad Three Houses brought so many new fans to the franchise, as these are amazing games. (Except your average FE Twitter user, none of us like them)
I will say, playing 3H has definitely made me want to see the older games remade because it sounds like they’re very similar to three houses (compared to engage and the 3DS games). I really hope we see a remake of fe4 soon or a new game that’s more similar to three houses/older FE, because I really love that vibe and I definitely want to play more games like it! I’ve gotten a bit sucked in to the series lol
i don't mean to be rude, but three hopes is actually the what if of three houses, not the sequel (though to be honest it might as well be since you'd be kinda lost if you played three hopes without playing three houses)
I know it’s a what if scenario, but it’s easier to just call it a sequel (especially bc it is technically a sequel to the part one of three houses). I feel like calling it a side story or something else would make it too confusing haha
I did not unfortunately, I only wrote it on common app since it was only for one school so I didn’t need to copy paste it :( trust me tho it should’ve made me an auto admit lol
@@eeveestrations imo this could go in any direction, cause a lot of “vocal” xenoblade creators on yt are less into 3. But personally i know more streamers/less known creators that really enjoy xenoblade 3 (me included)
Damn i love three houses, still enjoy the tellius games a little more (fire emblem 9 & 10) three houses has the best story but the gameplay is a little repetitive compared to some of the other games, i especially love the ones that marry the story into the gameplay. If that interests you and you can handle emulating older games genealogy of the holy war is a real one. Even still i gotta say three houses is the best in the series, people love to go ‘old game good’ but 🏘️ is just a modern miracle, how did they put so much great stuff in a single game! Also, realised you like fire emblem and xenoblade, bet you’d totally gel with FF14 if you haven’t played it
Haven’t played FF games yet but they’re on my list of games to play whenever I have time and run out of newer games to play! Unfortunately I don’t think the newer ones are on switch but I still definitely want to play some of them when I get the chance!
edit: happy fifth anniversary three houses!!! We’re officially post timeskip now fam 🫡
IM FINALLY BACKKKKKK 🫡
Hope you enjoy the video! If you’ve played three houses, tell me all about your thoughts and experiences with the game!! I hope you guys loved it as much as I did or want to give it a try!
Was I the only one who knew Edelgard was the flame emperor because of them first speaking and I thought the inflection of the voice was the same? Lol
Omg you met Tara???? I’m so envioussss she seems so cool!!!!
@ she is awesome! I got to talk with her for like an hour!
Three Houses has it flaws but I love the blue lions route so much
The blue lions one was definitely the best written route, it was just so good 👌
I'm the Fire Emblem/JRPG guy of my friend group and every time someone comes to me about Three Houses I direct them straight to the Blue Lions.
If the characters were all black and white, good or bad, the game would not be nearly as successful as it is
I’m the biggest black eagles fan and on my first playthrough, I was so pissed at Edelgard once the plot twist happened, but when you had to make the choice that could switch the route… I couldn’t do that to her, and I’m so happy I didn’t because I love Crimson Flower so much.
see I somehow missed the go to the coronation part so I didn’t even have that option the first time around and was so mad lmao I missed my best unit
Wow I never connected the dots there omg
Tbf I wrote an assignment on Xenoblade 3 for my Science-Fiction class and got an A+. Nintendo is getting allowing capable writers of crafting fire stories, and that is unfortunately forgotten.
EDELGARD LOVE IS SO REAL I LOVEEEE HERRR
EDELGARD IS THE BESTTTTT YOU ARE SO BASED
Blue Lions' guy here.
I loved getting to fill in the blanks myself based on exploring and replaying the games, it really lets you decide how much you wanna invest in the world and the lore and its just soooo good
This game really is a masterpiece in story telling. From the world building, characters, history, even the messages. It's mind blowing.
@@eeveestrations Sweet! I hope your blue lions run goes well! 😄
Welcome back!
Love how the switch introduced me to many wonderful JRPS!
There’s still so many games I want to play 😭😭 with the persona and nier ports, I have no excuse not to play those next summer when I finish hopes!
My second favorite game of all time. The characters, the music, the story, the lore, the voice acting, the mix of relationships sim and war strategy. Sooooo good
everything about it is just perfect, I don’t think Nintendo can ever make a better FE 👌
2nd favorite for me too.
Honestly I'd love to see more of this game I adore it so much. Joe Zieja just made a video of Three Houses' five year anniversary. Made me tear up 🥹
And guess who’s going to Vanderbilt in a month
If you’re going through the college process, don;t be afraid to show who you truly are.
@@eeveestrations Thanks a bunch! Glad the embarrassing moment essay turned out well!
XENOBLADE 2 MENTION I LOVE XENOBLADE 2
Hello! Happened upon your channel from my suggestions and I love the content! Keep it up! I haven’t played fire emblem since the gba games. But I’m definitely going to now!
That’s awesome to hear!!! I hope you enjoy three houses if you get the chance to play it, it’s just an absolutely fantastic experience!!
I love this game so, so much! Claude's route is my favourite, even if I wish we got to see more of Almyra and Claude's past.
I do too honestly, seeing his brother in hopes was nice but I really wish they’d actually done a campaign in Almyra vs just telling us about it. I guess we can only hope that when three houses remastered releases in 2043, it includes more content 😭
As a UC Irvine alumni, you really should’ve been accepted in for loving fire emblem :(
If only the admissions staff were this based 😭
As a fire emblem fan who thinks the tellius games (fire emblem 9 and 10) are the best, i can at least agree that three houses is right behind it, the story is so good ahhhh
Great video! You've got good humour and definitely have untapped editing potential 😎
Thank you so much!!!! My editing skills do need work haha I never edited before starting my channel less than a year ago! Really glad you enjoyed the video regardless of my noob editing!
@@eeveestrations Not a problem, happy to support! Looking forward to your future content~
I thought the title was gonna be click bait but as soon as you said fire emblem I knew I was in for a treat! great video, would love to hear more of these about other games
keep up the good work homie 🤙
thank you so much, really glad you liked the video!!!! If this one does reasonably well I definitely want to do Pokemon and Xenoblade in particular, they might be a bit more controversial haha but if people want to see more like this then I’m happy to share my many thoughts!
@@eeveestrations both sound great! never played xenoblade but get what you mean about the controversiality
as long as you're happy making em, keep it up!
Having unique part 1 experiences for each house is possibly the biggest missed opportunity in the game in my opinion, besides Rhea not being playable in Silver Snow of course.
oh yeah I 100% agree with the blue lions being the favorite route, that and silver snow are definitely the favs amongst the devs
@eeveestrations HUEBURT, that was his name. Yeah, I had the same thought process haha
Oh sounds interesting!! As soon as I finish all of hopes I’ll have to check that out! (don’t wanna accidentally spoil anything lol)
Girl now we need the Three HOPES video ✨
just need to finish the boss fight of azure gleam and then I will be writing the script for that lol
I love this world so much ❤
Ooooo I’d love to see a prequel centered around Seiros and Sothis, that would be so amazing!!
Also Edelgard is one of my fave characters ever because of her being the villan and also the fact that they LET YOU SIDE WWITH THE BAD GUY
Not only that bbut everyone has their morally questionable moments too.
YES
Medieval fantasy with a major sci-fi twist? YES
Both amazing games? YES
I actually just filmed a video on xc2 where I talked about exactly this! While I do feel that some of the xc2 criticisms are understandable, that game is so misunderstood by the broader gaming community and it’s just so unfortunate because it was a really fun time. I think you’ll enjoy next week’s video haha
fire emblem is bliss, best series ever
fr I went in expecting a boring war chess game and I got literally the most interesting and addicting game ever
i loved playing three houses so much i did 6 different playthroughs, if you include the ashen wolves dlc. 4 were the separate respective routes and 1 was another golden deer route which was done on new game maddening in order to get the golden filter on the title screen. this game had so many fleshed out character that i really enjoyed how they were handled.
my fav lord is claude but my fav char from golden deer was marianne (who was the first char i married too). i related very much to how they portrayed her shyness and also really loved her supports with everyone, esp the one with hilda which was just the classic dynamic of an extrovert adopting an introvert, and ignatz which involved him helping her learn to take in the beauty of the world instead of looking down at her feet all the time. i remembered the first time i saw her timeskip portrait, i audibly gasped at how she lost her eyebags and was happy to see that she's getting more sleep.
for blue lions, i loved ashe, his cute freckled face, and wholesomely earnest attitude about becoming a knight. he may not have a super tragic hook compared to the others in blue lions, but his straightforward and just overall pleasant air made him such a good boy to me. i also really liked how he would geek out with ingrid about past knights they looked up to in books they've read, those were super cute to see.
for black eagles, i liked lindhardt and surprisingly hubert as well. i really loved lindhardt's blunt personality combined with being this kind of lethargic savant archetype and hubert being this very intimidating char who actually lowkey cares about his comrades as shown in his supports (i really enjoyed his rivalry to friends/lovers support with ferdinand as well.)
plus all the dlc chars far exceeded my expectations in quality. i especially loved constance so much with her pompously eccentric behavior indoors that clashed with her self-depreciative and gloomy personality in the sun. this game carried me through the downtime i had between classes and im glad i bought this amazing game.
(And her absolutely overpowered special ability from Aymr.)
Good video.
13:00 Ah, you Jagen'd them. You figured out the game on the first try, well done. (yes, I mean that sincerely)
omg so I really did discover the ultimate winning strategy lmao
Three Houses is one of my favorite Fire Emblem games along with Genealogy of the Holy War, Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn and Blazing Sword
Minus the human experimentation lol that wasn’t very based
I love your theory about the Agarthians and the post apocalyptic world! I'm doing my third playthrough and going through Blue Lions/Azure Moon!
Yeah, love Three Houses. Blue Lions was my starting route
I convinced my friend to get a switch just to get fire emblem, and she loved it!
yesss that is what we like to hear!! Im so glad she loved it!!!!
Love Three Houses! It's one of my favourite games.
It’s my favorite too 😭 I have like 420 hours or something equally crazy high in it lmao
@@eeveestrations I think I have around 420 hours as well
Dimitri is my goat
honestly based
"Byleth falls down a ravine or something" aka the vtuber rabbit hole
LOL - seems like a perfect reason for the time skip xD
Also: Edie all the way :D
I recently listened to some of the Three Houses OST again and I got reminded again that while playing the game years ago I did not appreciate the music as much as I should have ^^'
Thanks for the video! :)
Glad you enjoyed the video!!! Honored to see a fellow Edelgard fan lmao 🫡
Shout out to all my fellow black eagle enjoyers!!!!!
truly the most based FE crowd lol
@eeveestrations Plot twist: Black and red are just our favorite colors lol
Themes and world building are great. I love the Blue Lions route and Golden Deer's characters. In terms of gameplay and writing though... ughh. I wish I could like Three Houses more but I can't help but be more critical about a game when I'm passionate about it and Three Houses is a very flawed game that I'm very passionate about
Let's go Three houses is one of my favorite games of all time 🙏
I know the feeling. I once did a college essay on Digital Devil Saga. Got an A too. Was for philosophy.
This video was so good I need to replay this game
Today’s its fifth anniversary, so no better time to replay it!!!! We’re officially post timeskip now lol
Si, el mejor videojuego! Fire emblem three houses.
I just wanna let you know that I am Indonesian who try to learn English by listening to you, thanks and keep making English video
Fire Emblem Three Houses is my favorite game too and you're right that Rhea is the bad guy.
eevee you are amazing ❤❤
haha thank you!
I don't why i am here but it's great
Ahh so u're a black eagle fellow of culture as well.
black eagles unite 💪
I have almost 400 hours in it its a great game tho after that much and despite being at end game of blue lions madding I have almost no interest in playing it agien but any game that can give you 400 hours on content is a good one and if you haven't done a madding classic run do it its fun either verdent wind or chrismon flower is probably the easiest maddining is a bit tedious but the resounce magement of spells and gambits and threat evaluation or just comeing up witb a warp strat to finsh a map faster is super satisfieing especially if your planning from part 1 for certain builds to pay off later
3 hopes is certainly a good one too get sucked into,
i was a bit miffed that the game was an alt reality rather than one that covers the offscreen events of 3 houses,
But its still great, glad they are going ham with the storytelling in the second fire emblem (& hyrule) warriors spinoffs ,
The first fire emblem & hyrule warriors were perfectly good as simple fanservice games, but the sequels have pretty good story tieins
Good to have you back from playing this master piece of a game
Still got the azure gleam route left, but I probably won’t finish before moving out! Its been so fun tho, I miss FE sucking me in like that haha
@@eeveestrations Yeah, I also love FE ever since I first played Path of Radiance
Can’t wait to write about xenoblade chronicles also I love lysithea and blue lions for life
3 Houses a pretty good game thus far. I won the first mock battle at the school. I’ve now just been aimlessly wandering around doing things on campus. How do you get into your next battle..?
I’m pretty sure there should be a button in the main menu somewhere to deploy for battle?
Incredible vid! Welcome back btw, she returns with the best take of all time! EDEL FANS UNITE 😜
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!! And I’m glad you have great tastes 👌
@@eeveestrations Three Houses is also one of my favorites, perhaps one day I'll force my co-host on the channel to play it 👀
@GWASOM DO ITTTTTTT THEY NEED TO EXPERIENCE PEAK
@@eeveestrations ALRIGHT DEAL SEALED once our capture card comes in we’re DOING IT 🙏
I LOVE this game, probably a little more than I should 😭.
Side note, if someone says they hate Dorothea but like SYLVAIN….. red flag. No. Red blimp. Run, bitch, run.
yeah I was one of the ones who somehow missed her coronation and ended up with Rhea without knowing Edelgard was even an option 😭 whoops
@@eeveestrations AND IM OVER HERE WONDERING HOW. YOU’RE TAUGHT AT THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME TO TALK TO YOUR HOUSE LEADER EACH MONTH
I will not stand for chess slander!
Nah, it's ok. Haven't played this game in years but I remember I had a great time, just not enough to play a different path because those first 10 or so days are the same. I picked Black Eagles->side with Edelgard route of course.
My friends found this video and claim that you're a perfect match for me. Hence why I found this video. xD
Great video Eeevee! 3 Houses might be my favorite Fire Emblem, next to Awakening. The story and characters are indeed fantastic.
The casts are what makes the stories for those two imo! They’re both filled with such great and interesting (and low key iconic lol) characters that I feel like it really helps to bring the story and gameplay up!
Based. I’m happy to see Three Houses love, especially since it’s my least favorite FE game I’ve played. 😂
least favorite?????? oh that hurts 😭😭
Well, now you gotta play FE4!
I really want to! Here’s hoping all the fe4 remake rumors are true!
@@eeveestrations Here's hoping!!
Play FE Awakening next!
I don’t have a 3DS haha but I did watch my friends play it a lot when I was younger!! It seemed really good!
This is what I would do 💀
I just can’t believe I didn’t get accepted just for that essay alone smh
I thought your theory was stupid till I remembered that the agarthans were the original inhabitants of foadland until sothis showed up🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
i don't mean to be rude, but three hopes is actually the what if of three houses, not the sequel (though to be honest it might as well be since you'd be kinda lost if you played three hopes without playing three houses)
I know it’s a what if scenario, but it’s easier to just call it a sequel (especially bc it is technically a sequel to the part one of three houses). I feel like calling it a side story or something else would make it too confusing haha
Real
Sweet. Did you ever put that essay online? :3
I did not unfortunately, I only wrote it on common app since it was only for one school so I didn’t need to copy paste it :( trust me tho it should’ve made me an auto admit lol
@@eeveestrations Dang. :( Alright. I believe you.
holy based
It would be cool to hear you yap on xenoblade
oh I’d definitely love to! I just have some uh unpopular opinions about the games, mostly the third haha
@@eeveestrations imo this could go in any direction, cause a lot of “vocal” xenoblade creators on yt are less into 3. But personally i know more streamers/less known creators that really enjoy xenoblade 3 (me included)
Okay but have you actually played any other fe game ?
Welcome back
Thanks! Felt bad about being gone so long lol
Where can i read that essay?
Sadly it was only on commonapp so I don’t have it saved anywhere otherwise I would’ve posted it a while ago lol
