This video touched a few feelers. Took a job tearing down the church I was married in. Some of the most beautiful vertical clear grain I will ever see. Lesson learned if it touches you somehow then build something out of the wood so that it may live on.

Nothing quite like cutting down specimen trees. The way that I have always looked at it, is that I am grateful to have been the one to do it. Rather than be cut down by some crackhead "tree guys" who don't care one iota; We, at least, can absorb the essence of the tree into our hearts as the deed is done. Attach ourselves to the history, the things it's seen and heard..

I love that sound track! I do feel the same way when cutting down old beautiful trees that have been vital to the amazing scenery in my area. It is like we as arborists are life givers and life takers. We help trees that are overgrown to be more productive by pruning. Then when our clients want it, we take the life of some times 100+ year old trees. I have suggested not to remove big beautiful trees before most of the time it falls on deaf ears. Great video once again!

Damn, it would have been great if someone could have transported that bottom section to Nathan in Tennessee over at the Out Of The Woods TH-cam site so he could slab it on his bench saw and show us the magic inside. Then maybe the church could have had pews and/or a new cross mad out of the wood. As always August, awesomely presented video.

Plenty of Jims willing to do it too! I try to educate when I get the calls, but it's amazing how many people ignore me and move on to the next guy who's happy to do it! And then a few years later wonder why it has SO much dead! All just a day at the office I suppose. I feel like I should put out a local PSA or something!

A lot of people go to the doctor months too late, they dread the answer so keep putting the visit off, then when they do go it's way too late. So I suppose it's the same with trees, I feel it's a sin not to look after plants and trees that maybe we have put in the wrong place and expect them to just grow and be healthy by them selves.
That was a super tree and it was just doing it's own thing. as nature intended,
