GT DD Pro/CSL DD IS an upgrade from CSL Elite

- While researching for a replacement for my CSL Elite, I wasn't completely convinced the DD Pro/CSL DD was an upgrade over the CSL Elite. Existing reviews that compared the two didn't appear to be from CSL Elite daily drivers. Having tested myself, I believe it is a definite upgrade. I've only tested WITH the 8NM boost kit.

I bought my CSL DD this weekend and haven’t tried it yet. I’m still on my CSL Elite. Just waiting for my new rig to come and then I get to try the DD. I’m very excited
New rig? Did you order a new stand or playseat too or are you referring to the CSL DD?

Thanks for your review. I’m in the same position with V3 pedals put wanting to maybe swap the CSL Elite for a GT DD Pro. It’s hard to tell what’s an upgrade from watching videos but as you’re in the same position I think this might’ve settled it…
Glad to see your using the Next Level Lite Stand...i use this same setup but only the 5nm version. MY Question: hows it work with the 8nm power supply? Im considering buying the 8nm power supply but i am concerned about the stand being able to handle that power.
Hmm i am on Ps5 with the DD Pro base, V3 pedals and V2.5 formula wheel, but the V3 rumble works on F1 2021 (ps5 version) and ACC, but not on GT7 for me. I am using the standard AS setting on the wheel, do i have to change something for the rumble to work on GT7? I miss the rumble effect on my feet 😁
Can you please make a video when you are playing? Trying to see if it will be sufficient getting the lite version over the normal DD wheelstand...
What kind of wheel stand do you have btw? Cause I have the same exact setup but my stand just has to much play into I want a more sturdy stand..I don't have a rig because of space reasons..but almost bought a playseat challenge but there again I think I'll run into issues

i have the csl dd and i’m able to play f1 2021 fine, i’m on pc though so i’m not sure if that contributes. great vid btw!
i upgraded form csl elite to gt dd pro (ordered the 8 nm boost kit seperatly) .... total costs 850,- €.
When i got the gt dd pro package (wheel, base, pedals), i just opened it, took out the gt dd pro base and the 5 nm power supply - just like you i allready had the v3 pedals.
i dropped my csl elite and the csl elite power supply into that package and sold that "bundle" (csl elite, gt dd pro steering wheel and the pedals) to a friend for 400,- € - on ebay i could have gotten even more money ... but he was a friend of mine,
so i got the gt dd pro with 8nm boost kit for 450,- € - i still use my v3 pedals and one of my 4 wheels that i had before.
i´m happy - he is happy - win-win situation.

Hi, I was looking for such comparison so ...thanks. To be honesti was experiencing some flex with csl elite and gt omega wheel stand so i dont know how this stand is ok for you but maybe you use less force. I have sold my setup when my dauther was born few 2y ago and now i am thinking to buy the 5nm version because i dont have space for strong enough rig for 8nm or this is what i tought. I wonder what will be your oppinion for the 5nm version.....waiting for that
My stand may jerk a wee bit on heavy impacts but not much at the levels I use. On ACC, it has a relatively "light" FFB but a LOT of detail. I've been trying to copy this feeling in every other game I play and in effect, I now drive with lighter FFB than I use to. That way, I'm not drowning out the detail. So, maybe I do run with less FFB than you. Also, when I'm playing, I don't notice movement. I only paid attention after your comment to pick up on the movement I just shared. So, if there is more movement than I report, I just don't notice it.
Also, I'll try to test the 5nm today and share my thoughts.
How did you get the wheel base on the stand? I have the same one and I can't figure out how to get it on there level with the hardware I have. Thanks in advance!
I've got two bolts holding it down. There were 4 I could use on the CSL Elite, only two with this but does the job.
Nice Video . I want the V3 pedal . How do you brake with the bar in the middle ? Is it uncomfortable ? i have the f1 playseat i have the same bar in the middle

Hey, what's your wheel stand ? and is it solid enough for the CSL DD ?
It's a Next Level Racing but I'm not sure they make it anymore. It is strong enough, no problem. I bought it on Amazon in 18 and it is no longer available there. I share a rec room with my daughter and I can't fit a full cockpit that moves easily and can be tucked into a corner.

Edit: the CSL Elite sat at a natural angle that worked great with this stand. The DD PRO is level. It's not horrible but not ideal for me. Just keep that in mind.
Edit 2: lol the listing says the angle can be adjusted but I've not been and to figure it out yet. Haven't put much effort into it though. At least, not yet.

DD pro and DD are the same just one with ps compatibility and one without?
Correct. CSL DD is for PC and Xbox, with the right steering wheel. DD Pro is for PC, Xbox and PS, with the right steering wheel. I'm assuming licensing agreements are why they did it this way. I have an older Xbox steering wheel that I got for my CSL Elite that makes my DD Pro compatible with Xbox.
how did you get the rumble on the pedals working in gt7? I have the same setup but its not working.
I honestly don't know. It just started working.

@@siccstepsccs I think I just deleted that game for more space. If not, I'll check it out and see what results I get.
Is there any difference with the csl dd and dd pro?
DD Pro is compatible with PS, Xbox and PC. CSL Elite is only compatible with Xbox and PC. Only differences.

It's the "ClubSport Steering Wheel Formula". It use to be their cheapest formula wheel at $199. It was discontinued a while ago unfortunately. I think the Clubsport Steering Wheel F1 is the closest option at $269.95. On mine, the right thumb stick is a dial that can be turned which is awesome on games that allow it to be mapped. Not sure if the new F1 wheel does that.
I've been waiting for a standalone CSL DD base to be on offer; it now is.
If you had waited just a little while longer, you wouldn't have a throwaway set of pedals and extra wheel that, let's be honest, you'll probably never use.
I hate when that happens. I had my CSL Elite for about a year when they announced the CSL DD.
So now I have to try to drive my Elite into the ground so I can replace it with a DD. Shouldn't be much longer, as I put in over 1200 hours in racing games last year. I'm already on pace to smash that this year.
I'd like to see the DD tested on Dirt 2. That game feels like it's gonna send my CSL Elite flying into pieces.
LOL, yeah I know. If only I'd held off a bit longer. I only played Dirt 2 for a short back when I first set it up and going off my horrible memory, it was about the same force just more detail. Not a huge difference. But keep in mind, Dirt 2 wasn't a game I put lots of hours into, even on my CSL Elite so I wouldn't take my word on it. That said, I'm working on a vid to address the questions on this one. I'll look at Dirt 2.

@@almucantar104 hahah great response, tell me how is new equipment holding up? I got the csl elite (second hand and it works fine) thinking about upgrading and selling it and gas and break and pedals. I wanted the exact set up you have plus the hand break for rally driving. By the way it's not easy raising a kid and not cheap (referring to "crap set up" 👆) with this hobby but it's doable, good job man👌.
@@samuellp1146 It's doing well, no issues. I did end up buying the Next Level 2.0 ( a.co/d/gp5U7gp ). I wanted to keep using my beat up chair in the vid but it sits too low to use the 2.0 with the shifter. The way the shifter mount attaches, the entire stand has to be raised and that eliminates any possibility to stay low. The 2.0 comes with a little flip down "trough" to put a normal office chair with roller wheels in to keep it in place. This actually works very well but I do sit a lot higher than I'd like. And the sucker is heavy. If I could go back, I would have stuck with my previous setup. To be clear, I don't hate it but it was $230 that could have been spent elsewhere, maybe on a different stand or wheel. I likely could have returned it but after getting it put together, setup and running... I made the decision to keep it. Again, I like it just not an overall improvement for me. FOR ME. Other user experiences may differ.
I made a follow up video, a few actually as the opinion I have today has continued to evolve but haven't posted.. clearly. I think the 5nm power supply is enough for most people. Certainly I think anyone can start there and be happy. Then can later upgrade if they want. I ran it using the 5nm for 3 days straight and came to that opinion at the end. Yes, 8nm is more powerful and I do prefer it. But 5nm still provides a great experience.
I've been mostly playing GT7 and I am using the GT wheel and I have another "round" style wheel that is much higher quality. It just feels good in that game. I swap when playing AC Competizione or F1 but I do use the included wheel on GT7. So, I really like it man. I'm looking for to playing F1 22 this week. I'm assuming it will officially support the DD Pro and I'm excited to see how it performs.

A little but I didn't notice it unless I was looking for it. And it was only after someone else asked me a similar question. I upgraded a while back to this a.co/d/91R5qkf but not because the old stand couldn't handle it. I just wanted something that put the shifter in a better position.

@@yomommanigga2501 The one in the VID is MUCH easier to move around. For me, that is important. If the shifter position wasn't so much better, I'd be using the one in my vid still.
