This is one of the scenes that utterly terrified me when I first saw this film. One moment it was turning into some kind of awesome dream, and then the next it turns into some horrible nightmare, but oh so fucking real when Beowulf wakes up and all of his men are dead and hanging from the ceiling. Damn, that image is never getting out of my head.
@@HookedOnSonics518 Well, when the description of her was first given, she was a hellish demon waiting to strike the first chance she got (which she did). But I don’t think Beowulf was expecting to find a beautiful woman waiting to greet him when he entered the cave. A woman both wise and seductive. I mean, come on, if you were Beowulf and you ran into someone as beautiful as Grendel’s mother, what would be your first instinct?
A year later but Yes and No. They took her son she took their lives. However if you go back to how Beowulf made is son she did the same to The king(Though if the king had kept his dick in his pants and didnt fall for "False Promises(loop holed promises)" honor and glamourous gold he wouldnt be in this situation). Her son broke the rules she had in place for him "Not to kill men(humans)" and he didnt listen so the king sent forth anyone who could kill Grendel.
It’s A Dream Sequence She’s Probably A Water Deity, Or Just An Overpowered Siren…Personally I Like Her Because She Was Isolated But Still Got What She Wanted Through A Shameful King Or A Prideful Warrior
David Rule she went from an Attractive Young Queen to Demonic Mole like creature in seconds with Razor Sharp Teeth No Wonder Grendel's Looks like Shit.
Beowulf: "Your son was running all over Walmart tossing things off shelves taking things out of people's carts screaming stealing candy and annoying people and I'm the monster for tripping him?" Grendel's Mom: "Yes."
I would've had like 12 dragon kids flying around and moved the castle on top on Grendel's mothers cave and ruled the land FEAR!! Mmmmuuuwahaha Melon Lord!!!
A water demon/goddess/witch. Her true form is like a golden snake-torso but with arms and claws. Her face looks fish-like. Although she is never seen in the film, you can see her in some of the water reflection through the film- oh and also they made a model of her. Don’t think it’ll let me post the link but I’ll try in a comment below ↓
She's a water demon who can shapeshift. Her true form is never fully revealed in the film, but if you look closely you can see some glipses of her true demon form in the water. She looks like a golden, scaly, humanoid lizard/snake.

So wild that Beowulf quickly forgets that she slaughtered his men and ends up making another baby with her.

The atmosphere in this film is just phenomenal
God I forgot how disturbing this film is

Can we really blame her, she’s a grieving mother.
Yes we can. Her son was a murderous psychopath.
@@saveusm1saki726 so would you be you were a monster, human hybrid, being forced to hide away, driven mad by their marry making.
@@Silentprincess360 nah I'd probably just kms rather than be a murderous psychopath tbh.

Well she's floating.
I'm sure I remember this movie was just a fever dream.
I believe she's a water demon, a shapeshifter and a witch.

Shut the hell up moron that makes no sense, stop spewing nonsense!

Grendel's Mom: "Yes."
Damn, this scene was terrifying
Her flying always unnerves me
Nothing can be more terrifying than the wrath vindictive of a mother whose child is taken from her. Especially if she is a demon mother.
2:21 that scared the fucking shit out me when I watched it.
When the mother is mourning then screaming, thats more terrifying, it triggered my anxiety.

Rogue Jester
a bit of both

Literally Beowulf is the villain if they had not made Grendel inherently evil.

That would scare the shit out of me
I watched this in school and I was confused as to how the school allowed a film as this as "school appropriate".
Probably becuse this film is based on the ancient Anglo Saxon Poem
So yeah..
This has been bothering me ever since I saw this movie but, what exactly, is Grendel's mother? What kind of monster is she?
