For clearance here: Viscose is a cellulose material thats chemically processed. If you shirt labels "bamboo" as example as a fibre, its basically a type of viscose. Same with rayon.
Next point: jeans with 1-2% (not higher than 5!!!) spandex in it are totaly fine. That makes it fit a little better and makes it more comfortable. The issue is with the fit cause its loosing the original shape after time. Everything higher then this speeds up the process.

I appreciate you taking the time to leave this comment! You are so right about the jeans being OK with 1 or 2% spandex, but not much higher - good call out :)
Regarding the viscose and rayon, they are definitely semi-synthetic by definition, but (call me crunchy) I like to avoid the semi-synthetic fibers and any chemical processing all together when I can!

1: you say to hold your shirt to the light, how do I do that online? also, very thick cotton might last you longer, but body shape wise many people will drown in such thick fabrics body shape wise. I for example thrive in drapey-medium weight cottons, and they do let light through if I hold them in front of a window. Flimsy should be left alone, but a thinner cotton isn't bad per se.
2: 100% jeans do not fit me ever as I have very curvy hips and thicker thighs and a fleshy butt. I never get 100% cotton jeans to even get over my thigh area, so I need stretch for jeans to be comfortable. Sometimes stretch is for making jeans cheaper, sometimes it's actually functional
3: absolutely agree on loose threads and stitching! but again, how do you spot such things when shopping online?
other than that, very good tips about zips, buttons, fit and company policies :)
