Many thanks to Alan for his excellent presentation. I grew up in Hampden Park but never knew any of this. We lived in Brodrick Road and my brother and I had piano lessons in the mid 1960s from Mrs Tipton in Brassey Avenue, and I had a paper round along Decoy Drive without ever knowing the origins of the road names. Your efforts are much appreciated.

Very well presented Alan, learnt a lot. Lived in Hamden Park up during the early 60s’ up until the mid’ 80s’ in Timberley road, the Parkfield pub being dads Sunday lunchtime destination. Great to see some of the photographs of the park and the village, did not realise quite how smart the park was in its heyday, spent many hours playing football there.

What an excellent account of my home territory. Well done Alan. I never knew half of it. Never realised the prefabs where I spent much of my childhood, were built by German prisoners of war.

I used to live in Hampden Park, and attended Highfield Junior School and then Eastbourne Grammar School.
