    Tai chi provides the balance of energy flow, the calm, intention, concentration, control, coordination, inner power. It is a good cross training for other martial arts!

    Aw, man. I always was so into tai chi sword. Even 18 years ago, I knew this was so cool, but now that they got it on the Internet, I'm right there with it.

    I now know that I have played too much Soul Calibur. Thank you taichitsao XD

      You can't go wrong with this form. It seems quite simple compared to longer or more complex forms, but to perfect its silky smoothness while wealding a full weight sword will be a tremendous achievement. Good luck and have fun with it, the sword movements linked to the open "two finger" hand are a serious challenge of coordination and timing.

    youd be surprised waht you can learn from a video if you have the virtue of true patience and ability to have the self criticism to judge yourself fairly. There is a man in Nova Scotia who won a few competition internationally he learned everything from studying taoism and tai chi and then tai chi videos from dr Paul Lam. Whil learning from a master is always more proficcient many people dont live in a place they can take advantage of this masters wonderfull tutalage.

    Harmony for each form is important. Thus sudden fast, and sudden slow style is not tai chi. Try to watch Li Deyin or Wu Amin's demo.

    Dear Master Tsao,
    I have a question concerning your school. I plan to enroll this spring. I was talking with a friend of mine who doubts that one can actually learn Tai Chi through DVD's. However I disagree. What are your thoughts on this matter? And what would be a good starting point far as DVD's go? Thank you. I love your work by the way.

    • @taichitsao
      @taichitsao  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +SilentxWorld You can learn the moves from a DVD , and then attend a few classes to make posture correction. This will save your class time and learn a form faster. If you like Chen style, you can start with the Mini Compact Tai Chi, a good combination of Silk Reeling and basic Chen moves.

  • @Sareth987
    @Sareth987 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yobsemag: the idea is to do the moves slowly that you are able to be connected to nature and that you can handle your body perfectly.

  • @falloutshit
    @falloutshit 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have never received any martial art training but I still find a weird kind of peace and balance in just letting everything go and surrender my body to my mind... ill often play some asian music in the background when doing this... Weirdly the moves I do often come out like forms of Tai Chi... I have also found myself able to parry moves done by my cousin (who have trained martial arts for many years)... its a bit weird to be honest

    What is the best style of tai chi to learn?

    • @LightOfVoid
      @LightOfVoid 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Chen taichi for powerful fajin strikes, silk reeling and low, powerful stances. Yang tai chi for gentle, wide stances with continuous movements. Wu tai chi for relatively high stances and smaller circular movements.

    • @lotus8878
      @lotus8878 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would add that Yang style gets often overlooked as a martial art. traditional Yang style has fajin as well and whipping power, the thing is that Yang style got popular in the West practiced for better health and not so much as a martial art, people like Dr Yang (YMAA) and others however are trying to preserve Yang style as a martial art and passing on their knowledge. Yang style has powerful strikes, throws and locks, IMHO I would encourage Tai Ji enthusiasts to check check it out.

    well, i have about 0 actual sword use experiance, but since your friend is using a jian( ba gua sword, tai chi, etc area of martial arts), and you have experiance using an iaito ( i assume that you learned iaido/mogito). They come from different martial schools, but with using a sword, i suppose that you could give basic sword advice. However the basic ideas in using the sword probably vary. i would suggest your friend find a school of tai chi. Only for the fact that it would be best anyway.

    Yes the Han race along with the contributions of ethnic minorities have produced this civilization, on the environmental level (beautiful scenic park), on the exercise and self-improvement level, and most importantly the (inner) moral level. Even if you have a refined sword in a delicate environment, does not necessarily mean one possesses moral development; character comes through right conduct and long training.
