People who believe that Moira's beam is lock-on clearly didn't play during the OG days when that Symmetra beam would absolutely melt people even if Symmetra was looking 180 degrees in the wrong direction.
Its crazy how people still don't know lol. Like yeah, granted, the mechanical requirement is many times lower than most heroes in the game since it's kinda just a massive beam, but it doesnt even compare to old Sym, which was in fact lock-on. I do however understand the frustration of dying to Moira though. I can just do whatever I want with my WASD keys without losing any damage.
You are 100% correct, though I understand why some people think it. You can see it in the video even. I assume for aesthetic reasons, when the beam is in line with the hitbox the ANIMATION does indeed "lock" on to the center mass of the target, which would of course give the illusion of an aim-assist soft lock. But again, you're right, if the cross hair ain't touching the hitbox, nothing's gonna happen.
It has an animation where it "locks" on to the center of the body but it's just deceptive. It's exactly like zarya and syms beam except a difference in animation No animation when no damage, center animation when dealing damage
Apparently not. Read through the comments here and the post I made about it in r/moiramains. There are absolutely people who, after watching this video, still believe her beam locks on. You can lead a horse to water...
Because it's a fluid visual, it snaps to the center of the player model when it's within the hit box. The actual beam (unseen) behaves the exact same way as the other beam weapons.
i just tested this in the practice range and it does indeed lock on when the mouse is not on the enemy, it's less evident with large hitbox heroes like roadhog but is still there
@@LoyalNightmare420 That's exactly what lock on means but It doesn't snap either. The visual indicator snaps to the center of the player model, but not the actual beam. The actual beam is invisible and a straight line from the Moira to the enemy. It does not curve or move around like the lock-on beams do.
Respectfully a few days ago when I was playing Moira, I hit an enemy with my damage beam that was in my blind spot, literally behind me...from farther away you need to aim a bit but the closer you get it does in fact lock on
@@OWReactorCritical I've gotten elims behind me without orbs, while the enemies in front I aim it normally but from close up it bends to go beside and behind me...maybe it's a bug but it happens almost every game, the only exception being when I don't get overly aggressive and don't go for almost guaranteed death flanks
@@shookcanuk7255 That's literally impossible, you can't kill someone behind you with your beam when targeting someone in front. The beam doesn't work like that, not at all. If you insist it's because of teh beam, it must be a bug, even if I've never seen anyone report it, because frankly, I have never seen it happen. Maybe you confused someone getting killed behind you by someone else for your kill. Kills also still count as kills/assist if help get the enemy down, i.e. getting them low enough for someone else to kill them. You might have confused it with that. this whole video is literally just 'well actually its technically not'. you know what people mean by lock on. call it soft lock or whatever its still an easy beam to use that requires very little skill to aim with. this is why you dont see montages of people having cracked moira aim because there is no aim.
Cool. It doesn't lock on. It's apparently important enough for people to take the time out of their day to argue that it is, so I'll take the time out of my day to prove it's not. I am the first person to say Moira doesn't require aim, and I frequently say so because that's why I play her.

A little bit louder for those Genji and Pharah mains. 😂
pharah?
I've definitely sucked Pharahs out of the sky, lol.
@@OWReactorCriticalEspecially with that range increase 😩
@@Capn_Lyssa What range increase? Moira's damage beam as always been 20 meters.
I could have sworn someone said it got buffed to 25m at some point. Must have been mistaken. Either way, bane of the overextended pharah

Dude she’s my second most played character and I didn’t know it wasn’t lock on.
This is the kind of content I got that bell rung for
It's just a fat beam that visually moves, it misleads you into thinking she's a lock-on beamer
It has an animation where it "locks" on to the center of the body but it's just deceptive. It's exactly like zarya and syms beam except a difference in animation
No animation when no damage, center animation when dealing damage
Thank you for this! It gets so tiring having to explain this over, and over.
i have 46 hr in moira and i can say its not lock on
Isn't this the most obvious thing ever? Moira was my first hero and even then I knew...
Apparently not. Read through the comments here and the post I made about it in r/moiramains. There are absolutely people who, after watching this video, still believe her beam locks on. You can lead a horse to water...
So the beam is technically bigger….but it’s visualized as a lock on beam?

@@idiomrat Correct! It's confusing because Moira's beam has a fluid visual and none of the other non-locking beams do.
its practically silent aim you dont need to be aiming anywhere near the model to deal damage

Nope. Anything you thought was lock-on was visual indicators only. The mechanic behind the beam doesn't auto target.

What confuses people about Mei? I've never heard a complaint about her weapon.
Not lock on but I've definitely been killed through walls with that moira beam. Like it was still on my character through a wall.
