When I first moved to Texas I had to change my route to work so I wouldn’t be tempted to stop and get a Honey Butter Chicken Biscuits. There are videos out of people singing about them.
Being from Texas and having spent some time in Corpus Christi, where Whataburger started, I have been to the flagship may times. All of my kids went to Texas A&M University and WHataburger was always the Saturday morning stop for Chicken Biscuits, Sausage Biscuits and more for breakfast before game weekends. Great Sunday adder to help with recovery after game day. All jokes aside. The Jalapeno, Cheese, bacon burger is a must. The Patty Melt is second on my list. The food is fresh and it is not greasy and limp. Buns are toasted before assembly. This is a true Texas tradition.
So glad y'all did a Whataburger reaction to Jolly, love those guys. As a born and raised Texan, I must say that Whataburger is the REAL DEAL! Sooooo delicious, made to order, fresh...just damn good. They didn't mention the fries, but after McDonald's, these are THE BEST fries! The breakfast burritos are AMAZING too with both the picante sauce or the verde sauce!!! It's not Greasy! I'm from Rockford, Illinois. No Whataburger in the Midwest. I moved to Phoenix,Az. Best damn burger I ever had. Again it's not greasy. Pure burger heaven.
Josh being offended by Ollie calling ranch a salad dressing... when in fact, ranch was indeed originally intended to be a salad dressing. 😆 People just loved it so much that they started using it as a dip and many restaurants just jumped on the craze and started making their own versions as sauces. You can easily buy a bottle of ranch dressing in any grocery stores in North America and use it as a dip. I think for soda-flavoured shakes, most places would probably use syrups instead of mixing the actual soda into ice cream and milk. It'd be way more practical, and it'd more likely keep your shake smooth and creamy while very cold. Soda is water based and could make the shake more slush-like instead. Plus you'd need to use more to not lose too much of the soda flavour to the vanilla ice cream, which could end up in a loose, watery milshake.
Whataburger is definitely in my top three with Five Guys and the old IN-N-OUT back in the day (I grew up in Los Angeles in the 60's and 70's when IN-N-OUT was a thing and really good. Now, not so much. They're better than McDonalds but are not on the same level as Five Guys or Whataburger these days IMHO).

"honey butter" in modern times dates to at least 1879 but doubtless these two ancient spreads for bread had to have been combined centuries if not millenia ago.

I get the triple with cheese + onion rings. And that Dr Pepper shake is outstanding. No fizz. They just use the syrup in a vanilla shake. They also have grilled chicken sandwich, fish sandwich, grilled cheese, breakfast tacos, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, breakfast burger (delicious), and more. And it's open 24 hours.
That could be depending on when they filmed this a Buffalo Ranch chicken strip sandwich (my favorite) its a limited time item every year. The Dr Pepper shake is plain ice cream then they mix in Dr pepper flavored syrup
So glad to see this one. I've heard ya'll mention several things that you enjoy from the U.S. that you can't get there. With my first job at age 16 being in food industry, I can tell you that the Dr. Pepper shake is likely the syrup mixed into the vanilla ice cream. It is not fizzy. The drink dispensers hold the syrup of the different sodas and they dispense both the syrup and the seltzer water at the tap where the two mix. We used to take our orange soda syrup all the time and make orange shakes that were off the charts good. They were like eating the famous orange cream sickles. You can basically make a shake out of any flavor of soda as long as you have the syrup drink dispensers.
I am from Houston and cooking dinner right now but want to stop and go grab some Whataburger!!! I hate when we leave the state and I can't get any whataburger. My cousin lives in D.C. and first thing she asks to get when she comes to visit is WhataBurger followed by Pappasitos Mexican Food because they are Texas based companies
If you've ever seen fast food places fill the soda fountain machines, they use concentrated soda syrup packets and it mixes with carbonated water when u press the button. The flavor syrup of the Dr. Pepper is just mixed with vanilla shake. Dr. Pepper shake not my favorite. Root beer float or orange cream shakes rule!! 😉
They opened one in Nashville a couple years ago and they're still expanding in Tennessee. I would say the Patty Melt is only ever-so-slightly greasy because of what it is (a melt), but their food overall isn't greasy at all. The Dr. Pepper shake is great, it's a combination of vanilla and cherry, but honestly to me it even tastes a little chocolate-y as well but maybe I'm imagining things. The guys saying they don't like it are mental, they must not like cherry. Just the regular vanilla and chocolate shakes are good too, but the Dr. Pepper flavor makes it unique/stand out and it's tasty.
Dr Pepper shake is not really a ew concept. We’ve been having Root Beer Floats for decades. Big scoop of vanilla ice cream with root beer poured in. Eat with a spoon then use a straw when it starts melting. 😋 Friggin delicious!!
We have Whataburger in Louisiana. It’s better than McDonalds and Burger King. One big advantage is they’re open 24 hours a day. Good stop after a night of drinking. Their fries are ok.
