    Thanks for the review. Personally , I want to say the following ... I regret that Honda has stopped producing the Crosstourer. My friends and I in Russia, the owners of such a motorcycle, believe that this is a very successful and convenient motorcycle for traveling. It is comfortable, its engine is very reliable and this motorcycle brings pleasure from riding and you do not worry about the thought that something may suddenly break at some point. We have guys in Russia who have already driven over 200,000 km on their Crosstourer and no unforeseen breakdowns have happened to the motorcycle. All maintenance was reduced to routine maintenance and replacement of consumables, for example: brake pads, brake discs, wheel bearings, adjusting the gaps in the valves of the valve timing mechanism. On my motorcycle, with a manual transmission, the mileage is still very small, only 121,000 kilometers and the clutch discs have not been changed on it yet. It's a pity that Honda refused to release the Crosstourer.

      Basically it is because of all those virtues you have mentioned that Honda decided to stops its production, the bike would never broke, so no aftermarket incomes to report 😅

    Excellent Gareth 👌. I’m 57 now, 6ft and 20 stone and the weight of the VFR isn’t really an issue for me but I do use the method of backing the bike onto two pieces of plywood glued together which in fairness does help with getting the bike up on the centre stand.
    Me and the VFR, well it’ll be a until death do us part job I think, unless in the near future my strength starts to deteriorate to a point where I just can’t handle it, but hopefully that’ll never happen .
    Really enjoyed this upload of yours and once again, I wish you many happy miles on your new bike.
    All the very best 👍🏻

    Great review, agree with everything you said. I’ve recently bought mine a 2021 with 1,000 miles on when I bought it, had it about 6 months and can honestly say it’s the best bike I’ve owned. 👍🏍

    Sold my Highlander DCT after 6 years due to getting older and couldn't handle the driveway maneuvering and top heaviness anymore. Valid point about the center stand but at least it wasn't chain driven. Bought an NC750X DCT (2022) instead. None of the weight issues now especially as the fuel weight is so low down. Much easier to get onto the center stand for chain maintenance and cleaning. Fuel economy is outstanding! It's a step down on performance but still tours nicely with full Honda luggage and a few modifications, after market springs, heated grips etc. I don't carry a pillion.

    Absolutely love mine here in NZ it’s a manual 2012 with all the Honda accessories and a Top Sellerie seat, givi belly pan givi aeroscreen and Akrapovic exhaust. (NZ model = no restrictions in any gear)
    I doubt Honda will make another V4 so I’m keeping hold of mine.
    Upgraded the suspension in January with Nitron TVT fork inserts and the Nitron R3 adventure rear shock with the added hydraulic preload adjuster, both are fully adjustable with the added feature of low and high speed compression perfect to tune out course road surfaces and pot holes, absolutely transforms the bike with taught plus compliant suspension giving you full control off that amazing engine.

    After owning a CBR1100XX for 19 years, I decided to buy a 2015 plate Crosstourer DCT in 2019. I am very satisfied with with, it's really a mile-eater. However, if you like long tours and traveling like I do, it`s the bike to go for. My buddy got the BMW GS1200 Adventure, which is of course also a great bike. We both bought the bikes pre-owned, with comparable mileage, equipment and age. His was about 6,000€ more though, and I don't really see that his bike would be so much better than mine!

    • @VFRMitch

      The big win of the GS is Cruise Control and easy home maintenance. I see MC Cruise do a unit for the CT. People either seem to love Cruise of hate it, personally I wouldn't have a bike without it as once you've used it you can't go back! 😉

    Very much bike for the money! Had a 17 now 20 GSA, for me GSA is better overall,but way more expensive! Gsa carries the weight much better,lower gravity,for me ct was much more top heavy, the v 4 was sweet but thirsty,boxer is fantastic for touring,but i loved the character of the v4! Suspension on gsa is like riding on cloud, seat is so comfy,wind protection also sticks out compared to ct! Cruise control is very handy of gsa, the quality on ct is stunning but so are bmw! For me the gsa is more planted in windy conditions very stable, asked a police why bmw? They are stable in high speed, they had honda pan European but went back to bmw because of stability!
    Cheers

    Thank you for this review! I was considering getting a 1200, but I am just not a big enough lad to do so I think. I am 6 foot tall, but 11 stone. If you, a bigger man than I, have trouble with the centrestand on one of these 1200s then I am not going to be able to get that done.

    Thank you for the thorough review. I put Dunlop Trailmax Missions on for fire roads here in the US. I think they're a great choice overall. Saving up to add cruise control for the longer rides. Did you experience pain between the shoulders on long rides? The seating position is excellent but 300 miles in a day had my shoulder screaming, not sure why (perhaps because I'm 66). Splendid bike but I wish I had found a red one!

    With the discontinuation of the model. Will there be any issues if we need to replace the drive shaft?

    • @VFRMitch
      @VFRMitch  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, Thanks for watching the video. Many of these bikes have got past 200-300 thousand Km with very few issues. It all depends on how the bike has previously been looked after and serviced ( including shaft oil ) . The longevity of any bike is pot luck. I’d maybe try and look for one with less miles on if you are planning to put a lot of miles on yourself. They are not expensive to buy. Many bargains to be had. Especially in the UK.

    I bought a 2016 (66 plate) back in may this year. Mine's not got an adjustable screen, I think that must of been a bit later.
    How did you fix your sat nav and what make was it please, I'm thinking of getting one for my next tour. I know what you mean about riding locally, mine was great on the IOM tt trip and long day trips I've done but otherwise it doesn't really get me interested in riding it and I always take out my VFR750 or TLs instead.

    • @VFRMitch
      @VFRMitch  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching Trevor. The sat nav mount was one off eBay. Easy fix for a pre face lift bike. Yours will need something slightly different. Might be best putting the question on a Facebook group page. I’m sorry I don’t have any experience with the adjustable screen version. Ride safe on which ever bike you take out 👍
