    Hey all! As you can tell I am not a professional TH-camr and my life outside of espresso has gotten really busy (I am running for my City's Council and got a new job). There are no current plans for an install video. But I do have all the footage from the install and will probably put one together when I have time -- likely this winter. But as I said in the video, the instructions are pretty good and the community support is great! You could make this yourself 100%. I still use the Gaggiuino every morning without fail or problems!

    I just got the Gaggia Classic Pro yesterday. Simply because of the mods that exist. But I didn't know about this one. I happen to find my way over from Thingiverse out of curiosity. Watched the video and then went to read the comments. Find they are all within a couple of days old. So I look at the video upload date and seems like it was predestined for me to immediately mod the new machine with this. Thanks for taking the time to make the video and demonstrating this open-source project.

    Hey this is a very nicely made video, good job! The screen looks way better than the other simpler PID mods I have seen, and being able to program additionally for pressure is sick. This looks like a nice project for me someday, when I get a little extra time. Good luck with your channel, it looks like you're gonna produce some successful content! -Tom

    And the second question would be in we can get a work flow video of that machine?

    Again thank u for getting this info out to me!

    • @BosqueEspresso
      @BosqueEspresso  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would say that the Gaggiuino is a more feature-full machine with more potential to customize and match your espresso beans in a way to create a perfect cup. But it’s way more work to get there with installing the mod, and it can be frustrating to finally get it installed if you’re not used to projects like this. If you’re interested in tinkering and have patience for failure then Gaggiuino is better. If you want good espresso now without messing around buy a different machine.

  • @noahthelen3968
    @noahthelen3968 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've always wanted to do the Gaggiuino mod. Thanks for the video. Question: it looks like the way that the mod gets pressure is by tapping into the pump-to-boiler line. How reliably accurate is that pressure since it isn't the pressure at the actual brew head? I was wondering if it would be possible to pair the Gaggiuino with the Shades of Coffee Brew Pressure adapter, which connects to the Solenoid Valve. That would both be less likely to leak and more reliable brew pressure. Wondering if anyone else has done this...

    • @TomJones-tx7pb
      @TomJones-tx7pb 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      With this type of pump the pressure must be going up and down with each impulse of the pump's piston. I have often wondered how this effects the extraction, and how this can be accurately metered.

    • @BosqueEspresso

    • @antonz7259
      @antonz7259 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BosqueEspresso Yeah if I understand right the programming is for the boiler to deliver a huge kick of power just as the brewing starts but nonetheless, >100°C sounds like a physically impossible actual temperature for any water anywhere in the system, because the water would no longer be liquid but instead would have turned to steam as it crosses 100°C

    • @OutOfNamesToChoose
      @OutOfNamesToChoose 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@antonz7259 The idea I believe is that it won't reach that temperature, but it will be closer to 100°C by aiming beyond it (the cooling effect as water moves away will mean that if you provide enough electrical power for 100°C, it would end up below that). It's >100°C in the way power input is represented more than it is in terms of the actual temperature. It wouldn't make sense to try and account for this, however, and call it 100°C, as the difference between the aim and actual gets smaller as the group head is heated up, and the inaccuracy is reduced.

    • @antonz7259
      @antonz7259 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OutOfNamesToChoose Alright cool, having done the mod I can now answer this more fully. The temperature measurement being done is by a probe inside the aluminium boiler casing, not immersed in the water itself. The heating element is also basically embedded in the casing, hence, the temperature observed at the probe is not a direct measurement on the temperature of the water inside and can sit a fair few degrees celcius higher. However, I can see (with the transducer installed) that there is also a slight pressurisation inside the boiler during warm-up as well, hence >100C is possible.

    I am amused by the fact that most everyone including Decent Espresso, then "The Lance", as well as this Gaggiuino Video talks about how they attempt to mimic a lever profile. I have a GCP with a Mr Shades PID kit install that I enjoy. Then I added a simple relatively basic and very affordable spring lever Ponte Vecchio Export espresso machine to my coffee bar and now every day I have actual beautiful tasting spring lever espressos and /or Ristrettos dropping into my cup. There are no excuses, and no looking back by saying that I am attempting to duplicate/replicate a spring lever profile, because I'm actually achieving the real tasty deal, shot after shot on a real spring lever machine, and smiling a lot when I hear of people trying to replicate spring lever profiles on various pump driven machines. Get an affordable spring lever machine like a Ponte Vecchio Export, and you will become a lever fanatic, and definitely your taste buds will appreciate it. Cheers.

    Hits on this project don't surface well on Google. I just stumbled upon it today during an image search of all things. Never once saw it mentioned when doing PID and controller-based searches over the past week. What did show up were hits for MeCoffee and the ITO board with Leva firmware. IMO, both of those projects fall a bit flat on the UI side.
    Another example of non-discovery. Searching TH-cam directly for "Gaggiuino" brings up your video in SIXTH spot. There are videos above yours that don't even contain the term "Gaggiuino" and have less views - one of them only 1k.
