@@CardboardCacti His demeanor and body language made it obvious that he was up to something. He wanted to trade his mid/low end cards for your highly sought after cards to build a better binder for him to sell. He was trying to scam you but you’re too smart. 🤣

That must have been an uncomfortable interaction especially when trying to offer 6 lower value cards that aren't as liquid as the 3 he was after. Could almost feel the tension & the ego he had going into that trade. Happy to see that get shut down.
This whole trade at a certain % is a double edged sword... What if it was a situation where he was trying to trade a $600 card? He would lose $120 right off the bat at "80% trade"... I know this particular scenario may be different because he is trying to trading up towards a bigger card, but I hear a lot of vendors tell customers that they have to be firm at their % rate for trade/buys because they have to cover costs for the table when that's exactly what the territory calls for lol, your expenses for the table should never be an excuse as to why you feel you can buy whatever comes up to your table at a discounted price just because you're standing on the other side of it. Just my two cents and something I've been meaning to have an open conversation about as someone who vends and walks floors often.
I want to even go further and add on that with this influx of "new content creators" trying to make content with cards.... there needs to be something of substance to stand out amongst the rest... anybody can stand behind a table and calculate % of values on their phone and that's all what these people see on the internet. I try to get deals done even outside of card shows where there is no vendor set up or anything like that and people are still tryna tax me 20% off for trades like come on now let's not kill what's already a beautiful game for an extra couple dollars.... money comes and money will go let's all be better

That dude is a clown, the 3 cards he wanted from you can sell so easily at any big show for market value and he's trying to do a straight trade with lower end hits. Thanks for not blurring his face, staying away from this joker at any show if I see him lol.
Phhhhttttt 🤣🤣🤣! Straight trade for the heavy’s!? What a donut- and don’t bring a ‘heavy hitter’ binder if you don’t wanna trade anything that’s fair 😆🤡
No offense at 14:40 saying "Theoretically you can move those quicker because they're cheaper" is wild to say. As a vendor himself he would never do that because as you said "You would have to do more work." Not sure why he would say that.
True, but this was a month ago. With Prismatic Evolutions having Eeveelutions in SIR, and assuming ALL the Best Buy, Gamestop, etc, sell out of it, just like with Surging Sparks with the Crown Zenith and Vivid Voltage Pikachu going up as the BB went up to 200band people can't get the Pikachu from Sparks for less than 400, same thing will now happen with Prismatic. Low stock, all sold out, Eevelutions will be expensive as hell, which will cause people to buy the "cheaper" options, in this case, this guy had 3 cards that will go up in value soon.
straight trades do happen, when youre doing high end cards. Unfortunately his "heavy hitters" were laughable. The ones for trade anyways. good job shooing him away
I just found this video and already start liking you guys for being straight and honest with everyone! I’m trying to be a small vendor myself, do you have any advice for a newbie like me?
Damn I'm a rookie collector and even I can tell that this guy is crazy for even suggesting a 1:1 for that. All of this does make my own collection feel a bit weak though haha
We’re a new Pokemon shop in Orlando, and we’ve never done a show like this - with all the sites out there (eBay, TCGPlayer, etc), would you ever consider doing a video on how to do comps on cards? You guys are masterful negotiators and it always feels fair, love the videos, and can’t wait to see more!

It would be probably easier to move the modern and thus he a better deal for you.
That’s true but think about it, someone buying a $10,000 card is one in a blue moon. By having less valued cards, anyone can buy it moving it faster. Sure someone can buy that zard for instance, but it is extremely unlikely unless you are at like Collect A Con 😊
