Actually I think this is not required to beat the game. This is just needed to get to the 4th mansion quickly. But you can make it there on foot. The game is actually very linear for the most part. This is actually the end of the map. But you do have to backtrack. And I think when you have to go to the 4th mansion. You are closer to this area then the 4th mansion itself. But you can travel there without this method. Although it is probably required to get the best ending

I never beat the game this way i always did a jump where the last town in the cemetary where to drop garlic, id jump and use the holywater to make the jump. Hehe i found this out years later i played this in the 90s found yhis out maybe in 2010

It all makes sense now! The dark setting, the evil monsters, the vampires... if he's somewhere in tornado alley and he's a Texan then the game is probably set in Oklahoma, not Transylvania.
@@jhinzho4852 perhaps it's set in 'the dark and bloody ground' of Kansasvania. The word 'kansas' means 'dark and bloody ground' in a native language, if I remember correctly.
... hindsight, this part of the game just added more mystique and notoriety to it, even thirty years later we're here for the nostalgia. 1 in maybe 50 kids knew how to do this, or had parents "rich enough" to buy a strategy guide 😂. I remember calling my cousins on a landline to ask how to beat this part LOL
I found this when I was 6 years old playing this game on Sunday morning. It was one of the greatest moments of my 6 year old life next to Saturday morning cartoons!
I actually think this is not needed to complete the game. You use this ability to get to the 4th mansion. Despite the seemly open world. This is a very linear open world. There is no branching paths to my understanding. And you can simply walk to the 4th mansion. However, I believe you do skip some of the mansion and come back to them later. Hence you backtrack. This area is the end of the map on the left side. And the end of the map on the right side is Dracula castle. This is meant to be a hidden fast travel way to get to mansion 4 without having to hike all the way there after back tracking. I think the problem is that people saw the guide in Nintendo Power and thought to themselves how is anyone supposed to know this on there own. When it actually not necessary. However, you do probably need to know that to get the best ending. And yes, there are plenty of cryptic things that is required.

First time I did that, it scared the crap out of me. But it was a glorious moment.
