    [[ About the Game ]]
A wizard wonders the wilderness, cursed, beaten, and battered. His life slowly fading away, he only has one chance left before he’s Out of Time. Exactly 2 years ago today on January the 29th, 2021 I released my first game in what would become a sprawling saga. The game represented a lot of things for me, it was my first attempt at a new art style the ‘shake images and throw in particles technique’. It was my first time doing fairly well ratings wise, but more on that later. It was also the first chapter in a challenge I lovingly called ‘12 games, 12 months, 1 story’.

Hello! My name is Ian. I am a hobbiest game developer who uses the game engine Defold. I have made over 30 projects ranging in scope from a few hours to many months. Often times I work with my friends since I am a very lackluster artist.

i like how the mechanic that gave the game its name (the health ticking away) wasn't actually the initial one. makes me wonder what the game would be called if that wasn't the case.
    bless the algorithm btw

I just checked the files and it was labeled 'Add Title' until I named it 'Out of Time'. In some of my design notes I have it titled 'Where has the time gone' and I considered making the player age and de-age with the health amount too. Without the health ticking away mechanic it would have probably ended up as "Frankton's Quest" or "Dance of Death"

okay this was recommended to me by youtube and it seems like a realy interresting video but man the audio... not just the quality of the microphone with popping noises and all... and the music way to loud in comparison to the music... also why does your friend sound so much better then you? actually you sound better while talking with your friend then for the rest of the video? wtf

Thanks for the feedback! I'm still trying to figure out the best way of doing audio. I used two different microphones while working on the video, one for the general narration and one when I was talking with my friend. I'm going to play around with noise gates and such to address this issue. I'll try to have it fixed by the next video. Can you be more specific with the "the music way to loud in comparison to the music" part, I'm confused by what you mean by that. Thanks again for helping me to improve!

@@MrDodo014 You're good! I wasn't sure if I accidentally layered two music tracks and completely missed it like the popping noise. Thanks again for the amazing feedback!

@@BunchOfNerdsMakingGames Honestly the audio quality isn't as much of a problem as the mixing. Don't worry too much about dropping a bunch of money to get a better mic this early on.
The issue is just that it's extremely hard to hear you at some points. The background music drowns out your voice a lot. When setting the volume for the music, it should usually be a lot quieter than you think. You don't just want your voice to be audible, you want it to be clear and discernible.
In general, when choosing background music, try to avoid songs that go from loud to quiet a lot. It makes it a lot harder to find a consistent volume that works across the whole thing. I know a lot of people also generally avoid things with certain instruments, like piano, because the notes tend to get in the way of hearing voices no matter the volume.

Thank you so much for the advice! I was trying to use the music from the game as background music in the video. I'll try to find better music, like piano for the future. Thanks again!
