Thanks for the guide, i helped a friend do this upgrade and your bit about the tweeter helped tons! However his door handle trim is held with a screw from the back, and doesn't seem to need to come off for the door car to pull off the door!
Hi I have a Citroen Berlingo and have purchased this set. I have used speaker adapters in the doors and ran the tweeters to behind the head unit. And ideas on where they should be wired into? Thanks, Aaron
Just ordered the 13cm version of these to replace the perished OEM speakers in my 97 Mégane Coupe. Will be interesting to see if the tweeter adapter mounts work as seamlessly as in your DS3. I actually had a DS3 new in 2013 with the factory upgraded audio system. It was a DSport+ THP 155.
Girlfriend used to have the IDE version of the Megane Coupe, it was a great car. I never got around to upgrading the speakers in it, only fitted a small sub and amp for her. Have your speakers arrived?
@@myds3240 Yes they have. I've installed the mid range drivers in the doors, turns out the pods are pre drilled for both 16.5 and 13cm. Shane I can't find any of the 16.5 cm version of the sane speakers anywhere in the UK. I've not sealed the tweeters over as the adapters don't fit without further modification and my factory ones are still in good order. I've driven a 2.0 IDE about 20 years ago. Mine is just a 1.6e but can still move buy needs working hard.
The speaker adapters I got from amazon or eBay. I can send you a link if you like. The adaptors for the tweeters I had someone from work to order the terminals and housing for me as I could only find them by the thousand. I could make some up for you if you like?
Can you help me pleaseee I have an issue I can't seem to solve. I have a ds3 with the hifi system from stock. I have just adding the Focal impulse plug and play amp connected by Iso harness. It works and powers my front and rear speakers however I've noticed it then stop the Centre speaker and rear sub from working.... I'm aware the sub amp powers the sub and the centre speaker and this is tapped from the head unit speaker wires. Any idea why they stop working when I plug in the amp? Because it's still sending the signal to the amp surely just amplified signal, I can't figure out a solution as I'd like to keep the centre speaker/rear sub if possible.
Sorry I only just saw this. Did you get your issue sorted? Two things I can think that could cause an issue like that could be the tee harness for the Focal amp might not have all the pins or maybe the sub amp might not see a dc offset to turn on?
@@myds3240 thanks mate it did turn out to be the wire i think but I swapped amp too. Now I’m just trying to figure out the best way of removing the plastic cover behind the door speaker mounts as I don’t want to remove the pop rivets 😢
Great video. I´m gong to do the same with my DS3 soon. Do you know which OEM wire to the tweeter is positiv and which is negative. I have a orange and a green. Thanks.
Sorry I've only just seen your question. If you look at the plug there will be some small number on it. On our cars pin number 1 is the positive. Have you now installed the speakers?
Hi, I had the none hifi version in the car but retro fitted it to the car thinking it might be enough to keep me happy but it really didn't. The only difference between the hifi version and none hifi is the addition of a centre speaker and the sub in the boot. All the other speakers are the same.
Hey, could you do please some sound or bass test? Im thinking of buying these to my Peugeot 206cc so it would be great if you could do some sound or bass test.
Sorry I don't have these anymore. I had them to make the wiring harness for the tweeters for a friend. The speakers are very good for the price. The improvement in sound is night and day. The bass is more clear and deeper and the highs are more detailed and crisp. The oem speakers in the 206 won't be too much different to the ones in the DS3.
The Citroen part number is 6562.X2 for the woofers in the doors and 6562.C7 for the tweeters in the dash. These items are made by ASK, I have no specifications for them.
hello thanks for the video My question Can we continue to use OEM tweeter on these speakers?? or will we have to replace them with the new ones ?? Thanks
@@myds3240 Well, maybe I was a little bit harsh, since TS-Gs are purely "replacement" speakers, e.g., when factory speaker die out, you can use them to replace the outgoing speaker the cheap way. However, that's ALL they will ever be. To get a decent upgrade both in sound quality and "SPL", you must do something in caliber of Audison Prima APK 165, which with the really HUGE sensitivity and thought-out built can guarantee an upgrade. Yet, a small caveat remains; although they demonstrate a natural roll-off to towards the upper part of the spectrum, they do not possess they same virtues for base, so if they are installed in a system without HPF to disburden them from the murderous and unwanted base, beyond a certain volume level they will play "dirty" and they will get "tired" (despite a 32mm voice coil!), because they are simply not built and they can never replace a subwoofer. Even driven by the weak 4X15rms in average of any modern aftermarket radio, they work wonders. In many cases, there is practically NO real need for an amp (especially if the installation included a little bit of door insulation and structural support of speaker baffle).
@@myds3240 That's right. That's 12" Profi sub, a dream of a speaker, almost just like everything Rainbow used to produce. Calmness and dive in deep-bass are unprecedented. A true SQ speaker that will only reproduce the music signal without adding or absorbing anything.
@@Ernestom5 I am very familiar with the brand. I bought some Dreamline DL-C6.2 for my brother in his first install. I only recommend the pioneers to people that need replacement speakers on the car groups that I'm on. They normally come on and ask "what are the best speaker to get", I'll link them to a great pair of SQ high sensitive speakers that would run well off the deck full well knowing they wouldn't what to run an external amplifier and they always reply with "I can't afford that". Most people just want a cheap and cheerful upgrade, that's easy to install. These Pioneers tick all the right boxes for them, with them being almost plug and play. They do sound better than the OEM speakers, bass sounds firmer and I was surprised to hear there was a lot more detail from the tweeters. For the price and ease of install they are great. Yes they are not a great SQ set but most don't understand and think that a coaxial set will be fine to go in so at least I'm steering them towards a component set. The Audison's you mention are a great choice but they are 10x the price and you need to cut the mounting basket, which a lot of people don't want to do. I totally understand your point. I don't have the Pioneers in my car. I have a 3 way active set up in my car that's running off Mosconi 8to12 Aerospace DSP, all time aligned, phase corrected and EQ'd giving me a lovely centre image.
Thank you for explaining the tweeters. So good :)
