I know some people said it before, even the creator of this AU, but I would like to describe Inverted Fate: To start, it's as different from Underswap as you can get. It has the following: - This AU takes place after a failed True Pacifist run, when Asriel actually does win and "reset everything". As a result, he as Flowey remembers canon. - Only the six lost souls (main monsters) swap roles. No one else. They all retain their personalities, however. This is the only similarity that IF has with US, and even then, it's handled very differently. - Papyrus is a party member. - Not only is it radically different than US, IF's creator also announced that it would be different from all swap AUs - it has its own story, playing by its own rules. Therefore, it won't follow the same beats as Undertale's story like most swap AUs - it'll have its own twists, whether it be minor or major. There's those, among some other differences here and there, like Jerry being a miniboss, Hotland having a Phoenix Wright-esque trial, and being able to call Asgore outside the Ruins. As the AU progresses, it gains more and more differences to the point where it's a completely new story in and of itself, and pays tribute to quite a few other games and anime. Also, sad goat mom.

Out of all the AU of undertale this one has to be my fav. Mostly because of the amount of work you did for this story compared to some AU. Keep up the work man and I can't wait to see more of this world.
Remember that original "ASGORE" had Spear of justice's leitmotif right at the end? Well this actually adds both alphys and megalovania (since sans is vice captain n all)
Gotta say, out of all the remixes done in this AU, this has to be my favorite by a rather considerable margin, and definitely deserves my like. The way it effortlessly combined the two main songs in a way that goes beyond simply mashing up is expertly done.
I like Blooky the most cos he's the same! Nah I like Undyne cos... science! No wait maybe Asriel. Or Toriel? I dunno, this AU's too good to choose a favorite!

I don't think so, but it's not too difficult if you know the program. I don't recommend starting out with a song like Megalovania. Start with something simple, like Memory.
Undertale music doesn't exactly need a tutorial. I recommend FL Studio 12 if you're to try and make it, however one thing to know is Undertale music uses a lot of different motif's, primarily SFM and Earthbound soundfont. Undertale mostly focuses around motif's and a very straightforward beat pattern usually. For me, the easiest Undertale song to remake was Bonetrousle. Its beat is advanced but can be learned through playing with SFM's drums, and the basslines for it are also fairly straightforward. I hope this helps, I'm happy to answer any other questions

Not necessarily. It could be primarily used to shoot streams of fire alongside with her normal fire attacks. Using the staff as a brute force weapon seems to remove the purpose of having a magic staff, after all. There are other ways she could handle it.

Similiriaties between underswap and inverted fate: The characters swapped places,outfit. Example: Swap Paps And IF (inverted fate) Paps first appear on the place you meet Sans. The difference: Personalities. In IF! They stay with the same personality as UT, while on US, they swap the personalities
I'd argue the differences are way more than that, though. :P Only six characters "swap," but many characters are still different due to the consequences of the actions of each "swapped" character (e.g. Asgore still declared war but couldn't commit, so he left to the Ruins to atone, thus forcing Toriel to deal with the aftermath and try EVERY STEP OF THE WAY not to hurt humans who fell). New areas and plot points are added, Frisk is a talking protagonist, Flowey and Chara remember the original timeline, Papyrus is a party member, Undyne is a major antagonist... speaking of Frisk I felt canon frisk fell through the lost soul of sans becoming this sassy pessimist frisk with very sans clothing as a symbolism of such a _shift_ of personality being the only exhibited by the human.
While that IS an interesting theory, my intent with IF Frisk is that their personality was like that even in their previous run (which they forgot). Their personality ties into their backstory, which will come later, but as someone who is rather sick of pure, "innocent" Frisks, I wanted to have a Frisk that is flawed, sassy, and has room to grow. It's not a matter of Frisk becoming like Sans. More that they are deeply insecure, pessimistic, and crave positive attention, but they mask all their baggage under false positivity because nobody likes a downer. And there are reasons for that, too.
Dorked thanks for the quick response :D Your direction in this story is very well done I don't hold that Frisk is completely innocent either but just like in the normal game I think sans was right to say that the human had a certain amount of tenderness that allowed them to empathize with the monsters in the pacifist path even though subconsciously they made be aware that they had only accomplish this through the determination they wield, I think the true pacifist run gave them a pretense for real change, even though they may not remember any of it, I am sure this Frisk's (taking a page from Kingdom Heart) Destiny is etched into their hearts to "change" something. And also as I posted earlier is there yet another Asriel that exist in this Alternate Timeline that Flowey is not aware of, considering recent developments in the story? That has a lot of implication in the very nature of this timeline.

Have you not read the comic yet? If not, I really do recommend it, as IF is a very story-driven AU. As for MTT and Blook, only the main six monsters swap. Those unswapped are simply affected by the chocies made by those who did.
Inverted Fate is not and has NEVER been Underswap, and I am so sick of people spreading false information about it. :/ Literally the only the the two AUs have in common is that Tori and Asgore, Pap and Sans, and Undyne and Alphys swap, and I handle it DRASTICALLY differently. Chara, Frisk, Flowey, Mettaton, Napstablook, and everyone else do not swap. Some characters have altered roles in the story, but this is a consequence of the characters' decisions in their new spots. Flowey is there because he is one of the main characters. IF spins off from a canon Pacifist run where Asriel won and successfully reset the timeline, but somethin went awry, causing him to lose the souls and the timeline itself to have changed in a drastically different fashion. He manipulates a Frisk who can scarcely remember the previous timeline and they're later joined by papyrus... among other things. IF is an entirely new story and is not just a reskin. But for a tl;dr: Asriel defeats Frisk in the final Pacifist battle, tries to reset the timeline, but loses control of his god-like powers, resulting in a) a new world being created, b) him reverting back to a flower IN this new world, c) the six "Lost Souls" (main monsters) having their destinies shuffled about, while they keep their core personalities and their choices in their new lives ripple outward and affect the rest of the world and even those whose "positions" did not change. Frisk returns to the underground with only a hazy deja-vu of the old world and is a fully speaking protagonist. Flowey manipulates them into thinking he is a trustworthy friend and offers them a chance to be a "hero" if they help him along with his plans. They're later joined by Papyrus, who acts as a party member and constant companion for Frisk on their journey even though doing so will put him at odds with the rest of monsterkind and especially Undyne.

Asgore has entirely different goals and handles the situation differently from Toriel, but he is one-hundred percent friendly to Frisk. He does, however, have deep regrets. Again, recommend you read the comic. The comic is the AU. It is not as simple as a reskin of the original Undertale.

Heartache would be the original theme. TORIEL would be this theme due to Asgore being swapped with Toriel, and in Undertale, Asgore's theme is ASGORE. There is your explanation.
He doesn't hate humans, period. It's just that with the Underground in IF more fearful/resentful toward humans (there's a reason) and Undyne being who she is, he has anti-human weaponry and combat features. It's... an unfortunate compromise. He gets to be a star, he gets to have a robot body, and he loves that, but his adoration for humanity puts him in a rough place. Granted, only his closest peers (Alphys, Blook, Shyren, etc) know about this. He's smart enough not to forecast that he started a human fanclub before.

Sans, while lazy, actually made it INTO the royal guard because he's less likely to be ripped to smiling shreds than his brother was in canon. Papyrus is a goofy scientist working with Undyne and becomes a party member for Frisk... the list goes on, and IF actually tells a story rather than being a reskin of canon with random stuff like tacos. For example, Undyne as scientist is still an antagonist and boss, retains all her heroic personality, over the top antics, and morals. Papyrus is not lazy and has not given up on the world. He remains quirky, optimistic, active, and still loves puzzles and cooking- he's just Undyne's lab assistant and has taken up science alongside her. He also acts as Frisk's party member. IF takes place after a failed Pacifist Run where Asriel won, but in resetting the timeline, now he's back to square one, without the SOULS, as Flowey, and with full memory of canon. Frisk, however, does not remember a thing, and so Flowey decides to manipulate them into believing he is their friend so that he may use them to serve his goals. I recommend FL Studio 12 if you're to try and make it, however one thing to know is Undertale music uses a lot of different motif's, primarily SFM and Earthbound soundfont. Undertale mostly focuses around motif's and a very straightforward beat pattern usually. For me, the easiest Undertale song to remake was Bonetrousle. Its beat is advanced but can be learned through playing with SFM's drums, and the basslines for it are also fairly straightforward. I hope this helps, I'm happy to answer any other questions

Not necessarily. It could be primarily used to shoot streams of fire alongside with her normal fire attacks. Using the staff as a brute force weapon seems to remove the purpose of having a magic staff, after all. There are other ways she could handle it.

speaking of Frisk I felt canon frisk fell through the lost soul of sans becoming this sassy pessimist frisk with very sans clothing as a symbolism of such a _shift_ of personality being the only exhibited by the human.
While that IS an interesting theory, my intent with IF Frisk is that their personality was like that even in their previous run (which they forgot). Their personality ties into their backstory, which will come later, but as someone who is rather sick of pure, "innocent" Frisks, I wanted to have a Frisk that is flawed, sassy, and has room to grow.
It's not a matter of Frisk becoming like Sans. More that they are deeply insecure, pessimistic, and crave positive attention, but they mask all their baggage under false positivity because nobody likes a downer. And there are reasons for that, too.
Dorked thanks for the quick response :D Your direction in this story is very well done I don't hold that Frisk is completely innocent either but just like in the normal game I think sans was right to say that the human had a certain amount of tenderness that allowed them to empathize with the monsters in the pacifist path even though subconsciously they made be aware that they had only accomplish this through the determination they wield, I think the true pacifist run gave them a pretense for real change, even though they may not remember any of it, I am sure this Frisk's (taking a page from Kingdom Heart) Destiny is etched into their hearts to "change" something. And also as I posted earlier is there yet another Asriel that exist in this Alternate Timeline that Flowey is not aware of, considering recent developments in the story? That has a lot of implication in the very nature of this timeline.

Frisk, Flowey, Mettaton, Napstablook, and everyone else do not swap.
Some characters have altered roles in the story, but this is a
consequence of the characters' decisions in their new spots.

is there because he is one of the main characters. IF spins off from a
canon Pacifist run where Asriel won and successfully reset the timeline,
but somethin went awry, causing him to lose the souls and the timeline
itself to have changed in a drastically different fashion. He
manipulates a Frisk who can scarcely remember the previous timeline and
they're later joined by papyrus... among other things. IF is an entirely
new story and is not just a reskin.

But for a tl;dr: Asriel defeats Frisk in the final Pacifist battle, tries to reset the timeline, but loses control of his god-like powers, resulting in a) a new world being created, b) him reverting back to a flower IN this new world, c) the six "Lost Souls" (main monsters) having their destinies shuffled about, while they keep their core personalities and their choices in their new lives ripple outward and affect the rest of the world and even those whose "positions" did not change.
Frisk returns to the underground with only a hazy deja-vu of the old world and is a fully speaking protagonist. Flowey manipulates them into thinking he is a trustworthy friend and offers them a chance to be a "hero" if they help him along with his plans. They're later joined by Papyrus, who acts as a party member and constant companion for Frisk on their journey even though doing so will put him at odds with the rest of monsterkind and especially Undyne.

Asgore has entirely different goals and handles the situation differently from Toriel, but he is one-hundred percent friendly to Frisk.
He does, however, have deep regrets.

It's just that with the Underground in IF more fearful/resentful toward humans (there's a reason) and Undyne being who she is, he has anti-human weaponry and combat features. It's... an unfortunate compromise. He gets to be a star, he gets to have a robot body, and he loves that, but his adoration for humanity puts him in a rough place.
Granted, only his closest peers (Alphys, Blook, Shyren, etc) know about this. He's smart enough not to forecast that he started a human fanclub before.
When I read that sentence, I instantly thought of Underfell for a second. But, it's true.

Even then, I do it radically different. Never mind that IF takes place after a failed canon pacifist run where Asriel won, Frisk is a major character, ends up being manipulated by Flowey, and Papyrus is a goofy scientist party member. It's a new story with new twists, and if you read the comic, you would see just how different it is.
After all, Underswap does not feature Flowey as a focal point either, nor does it explore themes such as consequences, denial, and a strong focus on Frisk and Papyrus as a duo.

And that's just a few examples. Flowey retains his UT memories and tricks Frisk into helping him with his plans, Frisk has a fully fleshed out character and dialogue, and Papyrus is their party member and close companion.

I mean, Flowey is literally the reason the AU exists, remembers canon, among other things.
And that's just it. Inverted Fate is functionally NOTHING like Underswap. The characters keep their personalities, only six swap, and the roles themselves change to suit the characters rather than them changing to fit the roles. Undyne as royal scientist is still loud, aggressive, determined, and heroic, and remains a boss. Sans, while lazy, actually made it INTO the royal guard because he's less likely to be ripped to smiling shreds than his brother was in canon. Papyrus is a goofy scientist working with Undyne and becomes a party member for Frisk... the list goes on, and IF actually tells a story rather than being a reskin of canon with random stuff like tacos.
(Note: I really do not like Underswap. If you do, cool, but it does get frustrating when people compare the two AUs without actually looking into what IF is about.)

No. it s a role swap, but only the six main monsters swap, they keep personalities, and I take major liberties with the roles so that they are reworked to suit the characters. For example, Undyne as scientist is still an antagonist and boss, retains all her heroic personality, over the top antics, and morals. Papyrus is not lazy and has not given up on the world. He remains quirky, optimistic, active, and still loves puzzles and cooking- he's just Undyne's lab assistant and has taken up science alongside her. He also acts as Frisk's party member.
IF takes place after a failed Pacifist Run where Asriel won, but in resetting the timeline, now he's back to square one, without the SOULS, as Flowey, and with full memory of canon. Frisk, however, does not remember a thing, and so Flowey decides to manipulate them into believing he is their friend so that he may use them to serve his goals.

I mean, it tells a new story, actually gives Frisk a character, has Papyrus as a party member, and a number of new elements (including a fortress in Waterfall). I've put a lot of work into this AU, and frankly, it's bothersome that people brush it off without really looking deeper.

Haha, nice try, but Inverted Fate is MUCH more than an Underswap ripoff,and if you had read the comic, you would know. Ignoring the fact that Underswap does NOT own the idea of swapping characters, Inverted Fate actually keeps the personalities, explores how the role would change with the characters in their new positions, tells a new story, AND features a slew of new content and twists to make it unique. :/ Talking Frisk, Papyrus as a party member... there is a lot more to this than a lazy reskin with flanderized characters.

first of all try reading it for yourself before judging second of all Underswap doesn't really have much of a bar set when it comes to quality.

Looking like and being are two completely different things and as I said before read it before you judge it's much more creative
...Pretty sure Underswap doesn't have Papyrus wearing a lab coat and goggles, nor does it have Mettaton with anime shades, Napstablook as... well, plain ol' Napstablook, Frisk as Frisk, and these particular designs overall. Never mind that Flowey is wearing his trademark evil grin.
As Glacier said, you should read the AU before passing it off as a ripoff. :/
