Ok so I think your really missing the origin of Oi! You've got the timeline backwards in a few areas. Skinheads came out of the Jamaican music and 100% started there in the scene. That scene didn't come from street punk and Oi. Quite the opposite. The reggae or SKA movements came first then Punk then Oi. the SHARPS didn't show up till much much later after the nazi movement came in and tried to steal the skinhead culture. In between there you had the Mods, suedeheads, etc. But Oi really came about from the Jamaican roots into the punk movement when the Jamaicans were basically forced out . Oi was less political (spare a few bands like combat 84) than punk for sure so you are right there but thats because of its roots. Its roots being really one of the first multi cultural movements. Many early skins were black. As far as Oi being left wing......that's the farthest thing from the truth. Nazi skins have more in common with the reds than any original skinhead movement. Commies and nazis are two sides of the same left wing coin. I have a hard time understanding how the same people that would lump Mao, Pol Pot, Stalin and MArks into the same left wing ideology could then turn around and throw hitler to the right. the guy was a national socialist and fascism is just socialism with private ownership. The creator of fascism (Gentile) wasn't right wing he was a leftist trying to solve the flaws in socialism. BTW most leftist socialist/communist nations are fiercely nationalist. So that's not the deciding factor is something is right wing. Time to set the record straight and get your terminology right. Nazi skins weren't the result of the Sharp movement the sharp movement was the result of bonheads stealing the culture.
Oh and as for Skrewdriver. Their early stuff is that of legends. Every self respecting trad skin or punk had skrewdriver on LP early on before they went stupid.

Jamaica, Jamaica, Jamaica.....yes, tell us all about all the Jamaicans wearing Harrington, flight or Donkey jackets, Fred Perrys, Docs, Crombies, Ben Sherman and Lonsdale....that is British working class and mod gear.
Yes...ska and reggae did its bits of course and a bit of the rudeboy fashion that the mods sort of had adapted but come on....skinhead in a British subculture.
I myself love the Jamaican music, my house is full of Trojan, Pama, Coxsone, Island (etc labels) records and I myself have been a skinhead for 30 years but....skinhead is a British working class subculture at large. Jamaicans didnt invent it.
And also, your timeline of things is so off. It clear that you know a bit about the whole skinhead cult and it's music but you have misunderstood quite a few things and as I said-your timeline is way off.

Inciting violence against the neo-Nazis, real or perceived, should be exactly why you dislike them. Your ideas alone should be better than theirs and violence is why they have bad ideas to begin with. I would just form a better argument and discuss the issues at hand like murder and racism instead of telling people they're lucky to stab them because their ideas (seemingly anything contrary to theirs) are better. This is the down fall of punk rock in that intellectualism and reasonability fly out the window. In my mind this reduces us to retards and fascists who can't see the forrest through the trees because they're too caught up in the esthetic rather than the ideas, whatever they were to begin with.
Furthermore, I get your point if you do subscribe to anarchism because the seven pillars of anarchism have one being anti-intellectualism, which makes my head spin and side with or sympathize with no one on this point because it reduces the two to animals who don't reason, have knowledge or common sense.

First off, you’re looking way too deep into something I was really trying to be funny with.
But at the same time, do you really think the Neo Nazis are going to respond to anything other than violence? Because I don’t. And if throwing them out of our shows physically is what we have to do to keep them out of our scene, so be it. Im not going to waste my energy trying to reprogram someone who’s mind is already backwards enough to endorse a belief system as morally fucked as Nazism.
And no, I do not endorse Anarchism at all

They should breathe a deep sigh of relief that WE aren't deciding to play the bullies. They seem to think EVERY Nazi skin is just gonna be pushed out the way with no resistance. What's their plan when it doesn't quite go their way. I'd say advisedly, get a few fights under your belt with a MODERATELY challenging opponent before you go trying to fight Nazis. You'll find out quick it's alot different than beating up Trump supporters in MAGA hats.

Great video, Jack! Street punk (we called it UK82 back in the day) is one of my favorite subgenres w/Discharge and The Exploited at the top of the list. I hate parsing bands into genres, but I also love the Subhumans. I was a college station DJ at the time (hardcore/thrash) and got a lot of flak playing some of these songs on the radio. All these years later, and I still jam out to this shit. Thanks for the work...keep it up!

Regardless of being right wing I like to listen to leftist bands like e.g. the Oppressed, Angelic Upstarts or The Clash, Crass, or Conflict....I think they play good music and f..cking great punk rock...I also listen to bands like Skrewdriver both punk stuff and nazi stuff...also Kill Baby Kill, Skullhead, No Remorse...or even Landser...
MUSIC NEVER DEFINED MY POLITICAL VIEWS...I listen to all punk music...from leftists like Clash, Crass, Conflict, Oppressed, Angelic Upstarts, Los Fastidios, Belarusian Mister X (very SHARP band), through the classics like Cockney Rejects, Cock Sparrer, Sham 69, 4 Skins, The Exploited, G.B.H., Chelsea, The Boys, Generation X, Cyanide, 999, Combat 84, Condemned 84, Infa Riot, etc. and finishing with the bands like Skrewdriver, Skullhead, No Remorse...etc.

To answer your question in the end though, definitely the 90's NHJxOI scene (I'd say you should have touched on that more but maybe I'm biased because I grew up in it, as well as it's "sister scene" in NYC at the time with Oxblood and the Templars). One could do a whole video on Headache Records and the invaluable influence of all the bands on there (especially Niblick Henbane, Those Unknown, and the Wretched Ones you briefly mentioned).

U have a good knowledge on the old and the new streetpunk and oi buddy, that there is no doubt.. but I have to say if you are going to talk about 80s Oi. U really need to explain the differences on both sides.. or else your music blog/vid is basically incomplete. Keeping in mind i like the far right about as much as Bernie Sanders does. I was a sharp skin, first wave in 1988-89 in England. Sharp was created in NYC by what we would now call "traditional skinheads". What nowadays new gen non racist skins call themselves. Sharp originally was a crew put together by a non racist skinhead called Marcus Pacheco, with a black skinhead and a Jewish American skin called Mike Kreitman. And even an ex white power skin. U can see them all on a 1988 Geraldo show on ytube. Sharp pretty much grew from there. I found out about it from reading couple Nyhc fanzines in 88".There is no such thing as "punk skins" unless u r talking about "skunks" which are not 100% skins as such, they are hybrid skin-punks. Bit common in early 80s uk, but not now. No such thing as "nazi punk bands". Nazi or white power oi is known as RAC = rock against communism and or white power nationalist rock. (Some RAC is non racist. About 98% is white power though). It split from oi round mid 80s to form its own right wing scenes. When Sham did a rock against racism gig etc. Skrewdriver was the first all skinhead band ,then came 4skins in 79" (non racist as a band even if Hodges was a member of BM). Then came London Branch, and Ovaltinees who were openly right wing in lyrics before Skrewdriver.(Ian Stuart of Skrewdriver basically started the neo nazi skin movement with his political group and record label Blood and Honour in UK, around 1985. ) The Opressed started up around 82(basically first anti racist oi band) The Press from Ny supported the first wave of SHARP they were also, all proper skinheads, not "skinhead punks". Roddy Moreno of Oppressed brought sharp back from NYC to UK in 89.Roddy was a skinhead from 1969. I reclaimed skinhead from 206 -2019. Back to punk again. Not trying to bust your balls here man. Just want to see u get the facts straight so u can amend the info later hopefully. The early ska and skinhead reggae dance hall scene, skinhead scene blew up in the 60s not the 80s. 2tone ska did blow up in the 80s with 80s "ska skins". But has basically zero to do with oi scene. Cocksparrer started playing in 75'. And technically oldest oi band. But did not get the oi tag til they released Shock troops lp in early 80s.

Of all the many bands I sent cash to by mail for a tape or 7" in the 90's, The Casualties are the ONLY ones to not send me anything. Even GG sent stuff. Fuck them!
