man... if you would've shown me this duel 2013 when wind ups were looping my whole hand and making my life hell... I would've been convinced yugioh had no higher to go. I couldn't conceive of something more frustrating than wind ups at the time... ugh. strangely, I was rooting for them. but I knew there was no chance.
It's funny as at the time wind up wasn't even the most hated deck. Most people hated inzektors more as wind ups rarely did the hand loop and games they didn't hand loop it was alot of fair 1 for 1 trades and just clean back and forths. And inzektors had hornet, it's crazy how in a format with a hand loop deck something so simple as "normal summon dragonfly equip hornet" was enough to get peoole raging against that deck
I almost feel like the later versions of wind-ups without access to Hunter loops were stronger. They had shockmaster and just an overall more robust extra deck
This match honestly is a good showcase to how hilaious the whole "Pend is unfair because it rebuilt and can pend summon big body every turn" meme truly was in context of Arc V era. Shaddoll was the strongest deck at the start of the era, and their entire gimmick is everything in the deck floats. Winda have a blanket protection against effect, and Construct effectively have a blanket protection against Battle that destroys for some reason, and the worst way to summon them was through a glorified Polymerization 3 card from hand that goes neutral in card advantage, and sets up a resource loop in case they died, where they just floats into one card immediate Future Fusion
Brutal beat down right there. Wind up got absolutely trounced and Shock Master'd every single game. Best I've ever seen Stick Chair look. Next match, wooo boy here we go. Two very similar decks actually, both focusing on consistency and resiliency over a high power level or crazy end board. I have to give it to Spright just because the power increase since 2017 is DRAMATIC. As we say in the Gouki match, Nibiru absolutely cleans the clock of any pre-2019 combo deck. Also, both decks are all but immune to single-target handtraps going first which is really interesting.
Welp, seems that we have the two decks qualified from this group already ! despite the sack was too much, that heavy storm was huge, plus I was legit "mad" when I saw the shadow mirror in Wind-up's side deck, and I was like "ofc they have that in their side deck" but NOPE I got the total opposite of it haha (but it is a kind of sack not seeing it tho)
Not even close. This went almost exactly how I expected. Oh boy! Two of the most broken decks in this game's history going up against each other. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict a 3-2 upset for Fusion Sub Zoo. The main reasons are Dimensional Barrier. Maxx "C", and sheer advantage. That said, Nibiru is also a looming threat in that matchup that stacks in favor of Spright, as does, the rest of the Spright extra deck.

So... Spellbook needs kin tele undead to beat shaddolls 3-0 or 3-1 to move on to the top 16 and windup is almost out. If I'm not mistaken... 🤔. The misplays in the last match are really going to hurt spellbooks, but it is what it is. Still rooting for rulers 💪🏻.
