I did read/write and it doesn't pop up for me after I made the DMG, whereas when I create another dmg with "read only", it works. why is that?

It would have been nice if you had explained each option and the respective impact of each, as well as the pros and cons of encrypting (performance, recovery, etc.). What happens if you encrypt everything including OS and boot sector? Many unanswered questions. But thanks for telling us how to turn it on (sarcasm implied)...

I just followed all of your steps and it worked but then it didn’t save the encrypted folder. I had left it on my desktop then I shut down the Mac entirely and rebooted and it was no longer on my desktop. It didn’t save. Weirdest thing ever. If you can be of any assistance here I would really appreciate it
