I did this filming on a class 315 last year, but I forgot about it so here it is, and today I found out there are still two 315 units working the rush hour at night.
Always enjoy my rides on these units and others of the time .I've heard our west midland 196xxx are going to Scotland ? And we're having there left over 170 XX there a smashing ride .,but not the upgrade promised by the powers to be.20 years old.and I recon they will be going to the summer games on 323,,s.good impression Andy A

I did go for a last ride on the 315s in December. To be honest I didn't think I'd be lucky but 2 came out of the carriage sidings did the whole trip from Shenfield to Liverpool Street
Will be sad to see these old girls go. Living in Ilford I was brought up with these work horses. Pleased you managed to get some. If I hear anything else from old colleagues I will let you know.
Agree that the seats on the new trains should be improved, but the Class 315 is 40 years old and the service to Shenfield will be part of Crossrail eventually, so no need for Class 315.
@@londontransport1515 I think it is a case of pot luck what diagram(s) they work, or even if any are out at all on any given day. It could depend whether there are enough 345s available to cover all the peak hour diagrams, and whether there are enough drivers available who have retained traction competency on the 315s

They've been on their last legs for months
They are being withdrawn and consequently scrapped.
All I know is there are eight left, and two are getting used towards the end of most weekdays.
East London won't be the same again when they have all been withdrawn

Fair enough James, they are more comfortable than most of the new units that we are getting on our railway these days.
