    Without this video I wouldn't have managed it correctly. Super specific and perfect video of a seemingly simple but filled with fine nuances that are important which I would have missed if not for this video. Kudos! Dell should hire or license this video for official purposes.

    Literal life saver.
    I dropped my Dell on the floor last night and my battery started looking worse than the example very quickly. Im so happy this video gave me the confidence to open up my laptop and get that thing out of there.
    Thank you

    You might just have a loose connection like me. What tipped me off was the batt being fully charged to being completely unrecognized moments later. This video helped.

    The reason the screw is ( isn't missing ) from the battery is because the Centre screw on the base cover is the screw that locks down the Battery ( hence the " Missing Screw ") cheers for Vid

    Hi, thanks a lot for the video. I have also a Dell Latitude 5490 (exactly same looking), but mine has a 42wh 11.4V 3500mAh battery (Type 3DDDG). It's a bit smaller, and there is some space left in the slot (I guess for a bigger one). Can I replace it with the same battery you are using ? Wich one is the best, and what do you recommand ? Regards.

    I don't know if it's ever happened when replacing a dell 5490 battery but I tried upgrading my battery from the 42Wh to the 68Wh and when I plug it in I don't get any battery charging and some pieces get extremely hot?

    • @URTechDotCa
      @URTechDotCa  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds like your new battery is defective. I have never seen battery size settings in the BIOS but I would look there first to see if there are any settings on your unit. I have never "upgraded" a battery before so I can't say it is defective for sure, but if it is getting very hot I would not use it (I have had 3 LiON battery fires in 30 years... not fun)

    If I remove a swollen battery does this laptop work with AC power?

    • @URTechDotCa
      @URTechDotCa  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes... well I should not be so unequivocal, it depends on how it was engineered, but I have never worked on a laptop that will not work without the battery... at least of the ones I have tried over the last 20 years of doing this type of work.

    What do you think, I used to use a laptop mostly at home, always with mains power, but the factory battery failed in about 1 year. For my next laptop, I only put the battery in when I needed it, so it has worked for several years. If I disconnect the battery in this laptop while it is running from the power supply, will it be a problem?
